Possibly one of the best value hotels we've stayed in. Location is a bit out of the way, but a short walk to the center, or tram is right on the edge of the next street. Not many places worth eating nearby but that's didn't upset us. Staff were really friendly - we arrived too early and they especially found...

I have choosen this hotel for one-day business budget trip to Vienna, mainly based on price, wi-fi availability and breakfast. I will agree with another review that I rember reading, about this place reminding a student hall of residence. Simple and practical furniture, a big desk with desk lamp for studying and a single bed. It was clean, quite, the...

Korotan has signs in German and Slovenian and there are a number of other hints at a Slovenian connection. It seems to be leaving behind it's hostel/pension background and becoming more like an all purpose hotel. The whole 2nd floor was being upgraded while we were there in Feb 2013. It is decorated in a modern style to a good...

I spent two days at the hotel. I am satisfied. Advantages of the hotel: Big, rich and tasty breakfast. Very good location. Very close to the subway and cheap restaurants. Quiet neighborhood. The service is nice, cleaned thoroughly every day my room. Hotel Cons: No air conditioning in the hotel. Very poor quality, small TV. Very small and very few...

This hotel is a great value. It is in a nice area and close to 2 tram lines that will take you to the nearby city center or other tourist sites. There are 2 good restaurants across the street. The hotel is very basic & "spartan", but the rooms are big & clean, although the showers are small. The breakfast...

The location of Korotan is very good and close to both tram and undergorund stations. The lobby is nice and looks fine, but the rooms are not that nice. You have all the basic, though. Everything worked in my room, but it was not the most enjoyable place to stay at. There's free wi-fi in the lobby bu not in...

I stayed 3 nights in a single room. The hotel is well located close to U6 line. The room was very very shabby and not well maintained and it largely reminded me of a dorm-room. Some instances: The door would not lock - but instead of having it repaired, the door handle was replaced with fixed doorknob. No "Do not...

Unfortunately I didnt seem to have as good an experience as other reviewers here. Good points: reasonably central, close to U-bahn station, well priced, a few good restaurants/bars in the same road (Albertgasse 39, Lavanderia, Cafe Hummel). Not-so-good points: Reception desk closed between 10pm and 8am - I couldnt leave luggage in hotel on my last day as I had...

We stayed here in Aug 11. The hotel is located around 15-20 minutes walking distance from the centre. Tram station is close by. One of the good things was the tasty breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is computer for the guests to use. There are restaurants and McDonald close by. Korotan is a no frills, good...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
