This (Oct 2019) was the third time I stayed at this hotel because the first two times were excellent. This time wasn't perfect, but it was still okay.

I love the actual hotel and the location. The rooms are big and spacious, the bathrooms are nice, the lobby is beautiful, the location is beyond convenient.

The bad thing about this stay is that there was MAJOR construction going on immediately around the hotel. You cannot get dropped off by a taxi in front. In fact, we had to be dropped off several blocks away, which wasn't ideal coming from the airport after 12 hours of traveling and with all of our luggage. The gentleman who checked us in was not very enthusiastic, either.

We stayed in a classic room with a king-sized bed. It was very nice with a beautiful chandelier and traditional Viennese decor. The bathroom was huge, marble, and modern with a very good hairdryer. The only problem with the room was that the sound of construction was LOUD and started very early in the morning. It wasn't quite as bad with the windows closed, but we wanted the breeze since it was in the mid-60's/low-70's when we were there.

The service wasn't great. The hotel seemed quite understaffed, but maybe October just isn't as busy a time for them. On our first night we repeatedly tried to call to order room service and no one answered. My husband finally called the front desk and was told that room service would be alerted but, unbelievably, they still never answered the phone. After about 45 minutes he ended up just going out to pick up food even though we were exhausted. The next morning on our way out we requested more pillows in our room (to the same gentleman who checked us in), and when we returned later that day they were not there. It took two more phone calls to get them delivered.

Check out was seamless and the staff who checked us out were very friendly and attentive.

I would consider staying here again since I had had good service in the past, but definitely not while the construction is going on.

Can not agree this is a 5 star hotel. The room furniture is extremely dated very old dark wood and not up to date with current needs such as usb ports, adaptable plugs or updated style.

No tea or coffee facilities in the room but cups and saucer by fridge no idea why..
no kettle given so with a baby I had to go to reception every time to ask them to boil their kettle for hot water.. (thankfully staff were extremely helpful)

2 single beds put together to create to look of double but single quilt covers so you and your partner have to basically sleep separate.

For ex cabin crew that has travelled around the world and can appreciate different countries have different standards but this can not be classed as 5 star for rooms anymore 3 star seems correct..

On the plus the staff plus location was great and is the main appeal to the property but competition is coming up in local area and this hotel needs to make a change or down grade to lower prices or upgrade rooms to compete with other hotels.

A family member found this hotel for seven of us and it was a brilliant choice for location. What was nice was they gave us the four rooms all together in a side wing and all the rooms were really large. We had a large separate lounge area which led to the bedroom and a lovely bathroom. The only thing I missed was tea/coffee making facilities, there was cups in the cupboard but that was it. We opted to have room only rather than bed and breakfast as we felt it was pricey and wouldn't really get value for money as we would have to eat quite a lot to get your moneys worth and some of us eat light first thing. We are glad we made this decision as literally two minutes from the hotel door is an excellent place where it suits all requirements serving hot breakfasts, fresh fruit and yogurts, cereal, croissants etc and very reasonably priced. We had planned to eat at different venues each morning but as this suited us all so well we ate there everyday except one day it was closed due to a national holiday there but there are plenty of places close by. If we go back I would do the same again this hotel and eat out for breakfasts.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights at the end of August, after a long car journey through Europe. We arrived late enough in the evening, around 20 o'clock. The services were well below expectations for a 5 stars hotel in the middle of Vienna. First of all, parking. Due to modernization works that are carried out in front of the hotel, we were guided at front desk to a public parking lot (payed) located to a few minutes walk away, carrying our luggage alone, because there is any bellboy. We should have been warned about that when we booked the room. Hard to belive for a 5-stars hotel! The room’s furniture (century old furniture with historical significance but not practical) is degraded, the upholstery is worn out, the enclosure doors did not close well, and the noise from the next room made by other guests (less tired than we were). Finally, at last breakfast, I have received gluten-free bread expired in July and June respectively (I have gluten intolerance)!!! I’ve noticed that because I’ve got the bread wrapped up. Of course, on check out we had to go alone by walk with the luggage to the parking lot. I recommend this hotel only for the location.

Stayed here for four nights. Centrally located, walking distance to major sights. It’s reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel. I’m sure it has something to do with the construction going on outside the hotel. Taxis can’t drop you off in front of the hotel so if you have big heavy luggages, this might be an issue. The construction didn’t really affect us because we were out very early most of the time. But if you like to lie in, make sure you request a room on higher level so you don’t hear the noise so much.

We stayed in room 506. Spacious room with its own balcony with a view of St Stephen’s Cathedral. The room is spotless and has individually controlled AC. No kettle or coffee and tea provided, but there are cups and glasses in the cupboard. We didn’t have breakfast in the hotel as it is directly on the shopping street Kärntner Straße and surrounded by cafes and restaurants.

I arrived at the hotel around 1pm no problem booking in staff were very helpful. They with out asking upgraded us to a suite which was a nice gesture. This hotel is a 5 star and deserved this accreditation as it is spotless and standards are clearly very high. The location of the hotel is in the middle of the main shopping street and you are surrounded all the key sights Vienna has to offer ( this city is amazing ). So Great Room Great Staff Very Clean Very Safe ( Staff adhere to Covid 19 rules ) Good value and quite rooms. It ticks all the boxes for me and hopefully for you too.

Hotel with no atmosphere or staff service at all. No Christmas decorations except a few floral arrangements that looked dead. Check in staff rude, bar staff rude. Considering this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel it needs a complete overhaul starting with improving their staff attitudes to customers. The corridor walls in level 4 need addressing paint job is appalling. When we checked in we were given no information about the hotel, map, breakfast or bar poor. The breakfast was €25 each and not worth it, food and beverages not restocked. Again given no information about options you could clearly get hot food but menu card only on certain tables. Restaurant area was so busy people were being turned away? In a 5 star hotel? This hotel should only be a 3 star!
Cups in room but no coffee making facilities - in a 5 star this should be the Nespresso machines. We saw kettles left in the hall ways, also very poor but we’re not advised we could ask for one.

Hotel is playing too much on its history it needs to get up to date only redeeming feature was its location

I want to express my deep disappointment and huge distress that was made doing to our vacation in Vienna.
The hotel workers barely knew any English, had false claims towards us, and wasn’t kind at all. What a shame.
We stayed in room 418, which wasn’t cleaned for 2 days, the cleaning services didn’t throw the garbage away and didn’t change the towels for us.. and when we tried to talk to the hotel staff they said that we asked for no cleaning service- which is not true.
The staff were very unkind and when we asked to talk to the hotel manager, they said that he is not there and will only come on Monday- when we already left the hotel.
The service was very bad, unkind and impolite.
We travel a lot and I have never seen anything like this.
My daughter took a picture of the room for a proof to the hotel workers.
The cleaning workers probably didn’t know English and that’s why probably didn’t understand the 2 cards we put on the door.
We are very disappointed from our experience in the hotel, and I will write that in the hotel review. What a shame that you don’t have a nice, pleasant and kind staff that could help us. We will not be returning or recommending on your hotel

Great location, nice and spacious room, breakfast was very good with lots of different options. Unfortunately, I forgot my make up bag in the room after checking out ( totally my fault ), called them up the same day and I’ve been told that they need to check with housekeepers and asked me to call back the following day. I called the hotel the next day when they told me that housekeeping department haven’t found anything. I understand that housekeeping department can keep stuff which was left behind by guests after a certain amount of time but I informed them the same day. Would have given 5 starts but I find this deeply disappointing. Workers are representing the company and the hotel management should make sure it doesn’t happen if someone leaves something in the room next time.

Pros:
Beautiful building and ideal location on the main pedestrian shopping street, two minutes walk to either Stephansplatz or Karlplatz.

Cons:
Our room consisted of two single beds pushed together with two small single duvets. Considering we asked for double room, it would have been nice to have 1 large duvet.
Others in our party requested extra pillows, whilst these were delivered. They were delivered to the wrong room. Not a big issue but small details make the difference.
We awoke on our final day to find the previous days cleaner had removed our towels and hadn’t replaced them. We requested some from reception, however, they still hadn’t arrived when we checked out 2 hours later.

Probably the easiest way is to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. This will cost approximately 36 Euro and take about 20 minutes without traffic. A viable alternative is the train. The train takes 15 minutes and costs only 3.90 Euro. I would strongly suggest a taxi from the end station to the Ambassador. After all, you want to arrive in style at the Ambassador. Pleasant travels.

Yes there is. One I Option is to give it to the HOTEL to park. This costs €37 And you can't access your car unless you are picking it up. I believe there are car parks nearby which are much cheaper and I would recommend these. Parking in town centre Vienna on the street is generally very complicated
