I stayed there for almost two weeks with my family. The room was very spacious and the location is great (at the very edge of Vienna, yet easy public transportation). It is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Heurigen tradition (the street is full of them). Staff is variable: some are very friendly (like the...

Location needs a car, but it is very quiet area of Wien. Although you will hardly find a place to park. The breakfast is typical for Austria, and the rooms are big and the beds are comfortable, a little hard, let's say. Internet speed is ok, mini bar has some good wine. Ask for the view rooms, the ones with...

We needed a hotel and booked at the last minute. Never do this because often you can't get a deal online less than a day away. So with few options we choose this place outside town. It was like a 15-20 minute drive from where we planned to go. I thought it would be a big lovely hotel near vineyards...

The hotel is well located for families with kids and has a good parking if you go by car. Breakfast is very good, and in our case was very convenient since location is not so faraway from Vienna's downtown. Internet was great for my 3 kids streaming. Good space in the room and nice staff.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation for the price. We got a well furnished, large room with an amazing bathroom. A nice restaurant with two patios. The included breakfast was very good. It was a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is located in an area with several heurigen for good eating and drinking and is close...

We stayed for seven nights over the New Year holiday. Our room (#51) was large, even by US standards, with a large bathroom with tub/curtain/shower, vanity, toilet and bidet. The bed had a single mattress between queen and king size (no European gap). It was comfortable but relatively firm. The room is on the top floor and the roof slopes...

We booked this hotel based on reviews, and because we wanted to spend 2 days near the wineries, after having spent several days in the city. Hotel Schild is a small, modern, nicely maintained hotel with lovely views of the vineyards. It is in a quiet residential area, just outside of the city, with wineries within walking distance. Several excellent...

We stopped here during our trip back home from our holidays in Poland. Quiet hotel not too big in a relaxing area. Rooms are in local style, clean and well furnished. Very good Internet connection (for free) and many good and affordable Austrian style restaurants at walking distance. Only the TV set was a bit old and deserving an update...

Nice quiet and tidy hotel in the middle of the vineyards at the outskirts of Vienna. Good service, friendly staff. The "Heurigen" are walking distance and they are not such a tourist place as Grinzing. Hope to come back there soon

Location is a bit out of the city but we planned this to experience a little of the local life around the wineries and enjoy a night of tavern hopping. Staff were friendly and helpful with information. Easy transport into the city but we did catch taxis back to hotel late at night after being in the city for the...

Staying in Dobling

Neighbourhood Profile
Dobling
Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns, and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill – fantastic for great vistas of Vienna. The woodland around Kahlenberg has a wonderful and not too strenuous hiking path - just don't forget the insect repellent. If you have adventurous children, take them to Waldseilpark Kahlenberg (forest rope park Kahlenberg). A must-do if you want a taste of the Vienna Woods is a stop at Josefinenhütte next door with its great food, cosy interiors and wonderful outdoor space.
