We did a 1 day layover in Vienna on our way to Athens and The Altstadt was the perfect place to rest up and visit the art museum. They arranged for an airport pickup which was reasonably priced. The room was ready on arrival and very comfortable. The world famous Kunsthistoriches museum was a 10 minute walk away. Breakfast was...

I was initially disappointed when entering the building of the hotel - unpretentious front door, cold entrance hall, strange elevator... maybe this is done intentionally in order to lower expectations, but once you get to the first floor, everything changes! Warm reception, smiling and efficient personnel and everything works (as it usually does in Austria :) )! The rooms are...

We had a wonderful time at Altstadt Vienna. The staff were very welcoming and managed to get us in the room before check in as we arrived early. We were staying for my birthday and had a beautiful suite with a huge bathroom. The hotel was in a great location near the Museumquartier, walking distance to the city centre or...

If you were so lucky to have a warm, hospitable, elegant, refined, sophisticated and intelligent friend who could host you in Vienna, this would be his home! What makes Altstadt unique is the elegant, cozy, spacious and welcoming common area where you can sip a warm team or a drink, enjoy a snack or read your book immersed in a...

This is just an incredible hotel. Fantastic staff and location. It is not for everyone, but for those who enjoy a smaller setting with more personal service in a great environment, this is your spot. My wife and I stayed here years ago and were pleasantly surprised that it has only improved. Convenient to underground and walking distance to old...

We stayed here with friends the week before Christmas. The hotel is truly unique with individual rooms. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is included and fabulous, I think the best quality breakfast I've had in any hotel. An added bonus was free tea and and cake between 4 and 6. Which we ate in the cosy lounge...

We were so pleased with your hotel before we even left the USA. We emailed several times with regards to different items and your staff could not have been more helpful and efficient with their responses. Help with our credit card, Booking restaurants, setting up airport pick up etc. When we arrived it was perfection from day one until we...

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
