We picked this place because Expedia said it was in the "City Center". Well, it's not. Yes, it's reasonably priced, but not worth the time and effort it took getting to the fun part of town. For someone on a backpacking trip, I think it would be fine since they'd be used to trekking about town anyway. But if you...

We had huge problems "checking in" - the apartments aren't manned which we did not realise when booking. We ought to have been emailed a pin code to access the apartment when we booked but did not (and of course did not know it would be necessary). It took at least an hour and numerous expensive frustrating phone calls, where...

+ The hotel is cheap + No reception, only automatic check-in + Free Wi-Fi - Pillows and beds are very uncomfortable - Train station and a tram is near hotel and I got an impression, that I slept in a train - VERY, VERY, VERY noisy I am not sure, that it REALLY worth 3 stars :/

This place is way too far from the city centre! You need to get a train which takes about 15-20 minutes, then a tram which takes another 10-20 minutes - THEN you need to walk 5 minutes... It's probably OK for long term stays but if you're only here for a couple of days STAY ELSEWHERE. There isn't actually anyone...

Staying in Hietzing

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.
