Stayed in this hotel while attending a conference at the Hofburg palace. The hotel was only a 20 minute walk form the venue, and also close to the parliament, city hall and university. I had a twin en-suite room on the top floor. The room was clean but basic, with a TV showing Autrian tv. The en-suite was nice, and...

1st time visiting Vienna and so glad we found this gem of a hotel. Excellent location so close to Rathaus metro station and then fast access to all of Vienna. However, also in easy walking distance to so many great tourist locations - close to the Ringstrasse, Hofburg Palace, Museum Quarter plus several christmas markets. It's quite simply furnished as...

Location very convenient for metro. Very good breakfast served in large airy room. My room had two external doors and so was very quiet. The wi fi was excellent. The tv channels available were Austrian and German plus Eurosport 1. The staff and there was a good choice of restaurants in the surrounding streets. I would stay here again.

We had a small but spotlessly clean room. The hotel is located in a quiet street just a short stroll away from all the main sites. We walked around the neighbourhood on our first morning and really enjoyed going into the local shops and restaurants. Breakfast is good. Showers and beds excellent. Would recommend it.

We got a room as large as a small apartment at a very reasonable price. The street is very quiet except for delivery trucks and vans in the morning. The breakfast buffet was like an ordinary hotel breakfast buffet with cold cuts cheese, cereal, juice, coffee/tea etc. The hotel is located less than 1/4 mile from the subway system and...

Easily accessed from airport via S-Bahn and one change at Praterstern to U-Bahn to Rathaus. Hotel is just two streets back from metro station. Situated in a quiet street. Check-in was easy and helpful. Twin room was plenty big enough with TV and en-suite shower. Beds comfortable and clean as was the room etc. Bit of a chill in the...

So much about this hotel is right: the location, the thoughtful convenience of arrangements in the room including a spotless bath, the breakfast, and the value. We stayed four nights during our recent trip to Vienna, where we had lived in the early nineties. While the weather was unusually warm, we found the hotel quiet and comfortable. There was some...

We spent 5 nights here and for a city centre hotel thought it was amazingly good value. The hotel is well placed for visiting all the main sights which are within walking distance so this is a big advantage. It was easy to locate as it's just across the road from behind the Rathaus. The rooms have high ceilings so...

It's small, its functional, with good location and a really really cute lift that transports you back 100 years. Location is really good, walking distance from parliament, museum quarter and volksgarden, there is nothing that can beat the location. As it is inside one of the streets its quite and not noisy at all. Inside room - Rooms are small,...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
