Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
A group of us went for the European CF Society Meetings in June 2023. We booked directly with the hotel because we needed 7 rooms. We emailed back and forth with Victoria Mayer. We had a very good experience working with her directly as we were arriving over 5 days and then leaving over 4 days. Because of differing rates per day, this was not an easy thing to do online via a booking agency for either us or the hotel. Working with Victoria was far easier especially as there were several changes in arrival and departure dates for the different people. The cancellation policy by booking directly was different than on a booking site but was reasonable--free for all until 21 days before, free for 2 cancellations until 7 days before, then first night thereafter.
We asked for something unusual prior to arrival. We took their recommendation and transmitted 2 posters for printing on DIN A0 Portrait poster paper to Copy-Studio. The price was $75 Euros for both posters which was a fraction of what some places that we could fine online were charging. We picked the posters up about a 5 minute walk away from the hotel. We did all of our interactions with Copy-Studio via google translate. They were very friendly and helpful and were amused to be helping Americans.
The hotel was easy to get to via taxis from the airport. The hotel has a minivan service that they recommend, but none of us arrived together enough to arrange that. Many of us left Vienna by train at the end of the stay. We took the trolley car with our luggage to the main train station. Crowded, but everyone seems to understand when you have a group traveling with lots of luggage. There seem to be many people traveling to the train station that way.
The hotel is on a quiet street. There is very little empty parking as is usual for Vienna. The building appears to have been separate buildings that were connected internally. It seems very well kept as is the neighborhood. Check in was quick and easy. The hotel staff speak good English in addition to German and probably other languages. Rooms were just a little smaller than typical US hotel rooms but perfectly fine for 2 people per room. They had very comfortable beds and excellent linens and towels. The bathroom was reasonably sized and well stocked. Our room had a window directly atop their awning for the main entrance, and the temperature was perfect for opening the window. We did not need air conditioning.
Breakfast each morning featured a different special dish. The standard buffet offerings were extensive and excellent ranging from cold sliced meats and smoked salmon (had to look carefully on a shelf just above eye level), eggs, various hot things, fruits, yogurt, cereals, nuts, cheeses. Coffee was excellent. There were several juices to choose from. On the first few mornings, there were also cook-to-order items, but they didn't offer that the last two mornings when the hotel was really full. The serving area is a U shape and gets a little crowded, but the workers kept it stocked nearly immediately. The selection of breads with butter, jams, Nutella, etc was terrific. Service to bring coffee or tea and take away plates was excellent and friendly. The indoor tables had elegant table cloths while there was also outdoor seating along the sidewalk. Walkers go between the tables and the building. There was a hedge on the other side of the tables separating tables from parked cars. The only drawback to outdoors was that smokers tended to use those tables. There was no smoking indoors.
Transportation was available with a 4-5 block walk to the subway but trolleys were available a little closer. The transportation cards available at the hotel were 24 hour cards while 7-day cards were available at convenience stores near the hotel next to the trolley stop. Those cards have a set 7-day period. If you need a card that starts on another day, you can get those on line, otherwise, you might need to buy a 7-day pass plus 1-day passes depending on your stay.
There was an outstanding Uzbek restaurant across the street on the corner (highly recommended too) and a fair number of good Austrian restaurants nearby. There were also some good pizza places a short walk away.
We took a meandering walk the day before our conference started. Sites along the way included the Votivkirche, Universitat Wien, Rathaus, the Hofburg museums and ended up all the way at Stephensplatz and then the Mozarthaus museum before looping back to the hotel. The whole loop is 5.2 km according to Google Maps, so the hotel is pretty close to some major attractions. There are some gentle hills along the way but it was quite an easy walk. There are an enormous number of shops and restaurants along this route including a Five Guys for homesick Americans between the Hofburg and Stephensplatz. Other sights near this route include the State Opera House and the Natural History museums.
Equal to the excellent care we received prior to our stay, the hotel staff were friendly and very helpful with any questions. Cleaning staff were friendly in the hallways when you saw them, but we were gone most of the days so we usually only came back to perfectly cleaned rooms. Serving staff at the breakfast were very friendly and efficient even when there were many people. There was also a small sitting area near the front desk where there was tea, coffee and some kind of treat, sometimes of two types that was help yourself. The staff kept that area clean and well stocked as well.
Overall, this was an outstanding experience. I'd highly recommend it.

We stayed 5 nights in the run up to New Year's Eve. So glad to have found it. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean, the staff are very efficient and friendly. The suite included a sofa bed for 2 kids which I thought was much more solid and comfortable sofa bed than you get at many places. It felt like a normal bed with no obtrusive metal parts sticking out. Large TV and decent wifi (which does have a limit on the number of devices you can connect, 2 or 3 I think)
The breakfast team was led by a great lady who was very helpful and attentive. Breakfast is buffet style and was very good quality. The serving area is a little cramped and some items are kept on higher shelves so be sure to check on all levels or you might not see everything that is on offer!
We did try the restaurant for dinner and it was fine, although a little plain. But is was great to have the option of eating within the hotel to save time. They also serve afternoon eat and cakes from 3-6pm in a nice little lounge area. One of the cakes I tried here (poppyseed?) was actually one of the favourite ones I tried in Vienna!
Location is a very easy walk to the nearest tram stop, and a slightly longer walk to the Metro. But it was pretty easy to get everywhere we wanted to go. The area right outside the hotel is very quite. I didn't see many bars etc. It was still a very interesting area and if I had time I would have looked around more.
Really nice place. Thank you Harmonie.

We stayed for 5 nights in December for a Christmas markets trip. We were welcomed at reception and given lots of info, maps etc and told where some of the main Christmas markets were. Our room, right at the end of a corridor on the 4th floor, was lovely - spacious and quiet with windows that opened wide and a fantastic shower. Breakfast each day was fresh, tasty and generous and the ingredients felt such good quality. We probably ate too much!
We had a couple of requests while staying - an adaptor (ours had been carefully left out ready to pack, and somehow forgotten!) and some different pillows as we found the ones in the room too soft. Both were dealt with charmingly.
We had afternoon tea at the hotel twice and thought it was a lovely touch.
In terms of location, we thought it was fab - easy to get to from the airport, a nice quiet street but plenty around in terms of shops etc. Public transport is very close by although we often walked at least part of the way to our destination.
I would thoroughly recommend the hotel and would most definitely stay here again!

We stayed for 4 nights at The Harmonie and found the level of service and cleanliness to be very high standard. We also greatly enjoyed the friendly staff, who were eager to help, and did so readily both in German and in English for us. The breakfast food choices are varied, and all items are regionally sourced and of biologically approved agriculture. The hotel features a clean and very functional gym room. The wireless internet in the rooms is generally good (although I had one minor drop just as I was calling a client). The desk is adequate for working (I worked in the room for 2 days), with 5 power outlets in easy reach. The room includes an iron for ironing clothes. The shower has plenty of power and heat (although the markings and operation of the shower were a bit confusing in the beginning).

Home from a wonderful long weekend in Vienna.
We stayed at the Harmonie Hotel which we booked via Jet2 City Breaks.
On landing we took the OBB S7 train to Wien Mitte. We brought a 72 hour city public transport ticket from the OBB airport ticket office for 17 euros (activated when purchased) plus the S7 ticket which was discounted to 2 euros (the S7 ticket stated a time which was actually the activation time, it was valid for 2 hours). The OBB S7 trip is not covered by the 72 hour ticket as it only covers the city underground, buses, trams, trains. Once at Wien Mitte we took the U4 underground to Robauer Lände station . It’s then about a 10 minute walk to the hotel.
On arrival at the hotel, 1pm ish we checked in quickly, the staff were very welcoming and our room was ready. Our room 113 was lovely and spotlessly clean. The bed and pillows extremely comfy. The room was really quiet, we slept with the windows open and apart from the Monday morning didn’t hear any noise, amazing for a city centre hotel. The bathroom was great and included shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, slippers and bath robe.
The breakfasts were delicious, a good choice of hot and cold dishes, coffee, tea and juices.
The hotel also provided complimentary tea and cake between 3-6pm each day which was a lovely treat.
The hotel’s location is brilliant, as well as the U4 Robauer Lande underground station which you can take to the schonbrunn palace and zoo,
tram D is only a 2 minute walk from the hotel, we took this tram to the Karlsplatz stop and transferred to the tram 1 to travel the Ringstrasse.
The hotel reception staff were excellent, always ready to answer any questions.
I really can’t think of any negatives, everything about the hotel was perfect.

This hotel is just outside the centre but is 6-7 walk to the metro, and 1-2 mins to trams and buses.
Location is good for some restaurants and local bars so it’s no too touristy. The hotel is down a dead end road so there’s no road noise.
Hotel is cleaned and looks likes recently refurbished throughout. Rooms are comfortable with quality bedding, comfortable mattress and pillows.
Breakfast as great, good selection and quality good.
I’ve been fortunate to stay in some of best hotels in the world and can say I’ll return in a couple of weeks with my wife for a few days.
Thanks very much to all the smiling staff, very friendly. Vienna’s little gem hotel!

The room is of decent size and has a cupboard to store all necessities, the minibar is over stocked leaving no space to keep something of your own. The breakfast is charged same everyday but the service and food differs. When they have more occupants they decide not to serve omelette/vegan omelette because they have a less equipped kitchen and are understaffed. I've never seen this to be charged same but not served same food. The staff is polite but in only saying sorry can't help 😐 wish they were polite otherwise too. The breakfast staff really needs training, they give us table for 2 when we are three people who will have breakfast, tiny table no one picks up used plates, extremely unstaffed and those around aren't particularly active. Spread has barely any fresh fruits or sautéed vegetables, barely anything for vegetarians, cereals are not good at all, people eat it because there is no other option. Really need work on serving more than bread. Room tea refill is random sometimes tea is kept no sugar and milk and basic tea bags like English breakfast are missing. Surely not a 8.8 star rating. Also we were cheated on our way out by making us book a taxi by hotel they said it would be cheaper than Uber but taxi guy charged us 15 euros extra !!!

Dear PahariaR, Thank you very much for your review. We want to apologize for any inconveniences caused to you during your stay and that we could not satisfy your expectations. We are glad that you brought the issues with the taxi driver to our attention as already posted in your previous review at Tripadvisor. The price of € 36.00 is the publicized rate of the taxi company and therefor suggested by our front desk clerks. I would like to point out that there is no price agreement between the taxi company and the Hotel Harmonie Vienna. Our only interest is to provide to our clients the best possible service at a fair price. As we have been informed by the taxi company in the meantime the surcharge of € 15,00 was charged as an extra cleaning fee by the driver due to the consumption of food in the taxi. The main purpose of our minibar is to provide you with refreshments and snacks, against payment. Upon request we are happy to empty the minibar to ensure personal use. The drinking water you are referring to has been provided once as a Best Western standard procedure for Best Western members. We are an officially certified “Vegan Welcome Hotel” taking special care of our Vegan and Vegetarian guests offering a variety of regional fruits and vegetables as well as sweet and savoury dishes (hot and cold) on the buffet. Kind regards, Victoria Mayer | Resident Managerin

A lovely min-sized hotel, all new and clean, with extremely nice and attentive service. Reception staff is most helpful and will immediately offer advice on how to best get round. This said, the city centre is a 30 minute stroll away, public transport is great and available a few minutes walk from the hotel and a taxi to the centre is some 8 €. The breakfast is super, there is always a home-made dish worth trying, and there is free tea and delicious home-made cake waiting for you in the afternoon. We enjoyed our stay very much, we absolutely recommend it and will be back ourselves.

The hotel was lovely. Located 5-10 mins walk north from Schottentor ubahn station, in a quiet side street. The hotel itself was very plush and modern and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were a good size and very clean. The location is just north of the inner stadt but if you enjoy walking the inner city is in reach without the use of public transport. We only used the ubahn to get from the airport and to get out to Schönbrunn Palace. All in all, cannot fault the experience. The hotel is definitely exceeding their star rating.

Hello!
I was there this past Christmas and it is super easy and convenient to get to and from the center of the city with the tram. Take the "D" tram to Bauernfeldplatz and walk about five minutes to get to the hotel. I purchased a weekly pass for Є17 and in addition to the tram, you can use it for the bus or trains. A simple Google map search can tell you how long it will take to get to the Opera House.
The hotel has tea time everyday. Breakfast was delicious too!
No, but clean and ample public parking nearby (ca. 250 m)
Hi! It’s in a great location to walk to those locations. We walked easily to several. We felt safe at night too.
The safest bet for actual distances is to use google maps of course.
I would recommend pre booking a pickup from the airport. I used one called TTC from vienna airport website. It was 36 euros both ways for 2 people. It was a nice E class merc. They have a office at the far left of the terminal as you come out of arrivals. Efficient, polite, comfortable
There is a laundry service.
