This splendid hotel was our base for visiting the city's Christmas markets. The hotel maintains extremely high standards and the staff are first rate. It is a very traditional hotel but has a warm and cosy feel about it. Rooms, breakfast and location could notf be faulted and the lively barman kept us amused. We were totally satisfied with our...

We chose this hotel after reading reviews and it was just what we wanted. Extremely comfortable rooms and friendly, helpful staff. The bar was a welcome retreat after a long, cold day sightseeing and we enjoyed delicious food in the restaurant. All in all, a great hotel.

I think we were just a bit disappointed with our rooms. The public rooms of the hotel are lovely but our rooms (we had a double and a single) were not quite to the same standard. Both were quite dark and the double quite small. They were both a bit "tired" but very clean. The double was actually 2 twin...

We spent three nights in this charming hotel. Our room was on the fourth floor at the back of the hotel and was a good size, comfortable, clean and quiet. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel but found the breakfast to be excellent with a wide range of choices to suit everyone. The staff were friendly and helpful especially those on reception....

This is a beautiful traditional hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Great location for access to public transport and all sights and nearby restaurants and bars. We walked from the hotel to many. Would book again and highly recommended. Our top tips visit Jazzland and the Hundertwasser Gallery Museum where they have a great cafe.

Taborstrasse is a very central location for a citytrip to Vienna. If you want to get a sense of the european Vienna this is the place to go: the lobby and the rooms are decorated with elegant antiquities and give proof of the statement "we are the oldest hotel in Vienna". But don't get fooled: real style means here also:...

First stayed at this hotel in 2006 on a business trip. Always wanted to go back with my wife for a holiday. Decided to visit the Christmas Markets and couldn't have found a better base to explore Vienna, All the staff were friendly and helpful which made our stay even better.

My husband and I stayed in Hotel Stefanie for our first wedding anniversary. The Staff were lovely and extremely helpful. As they say, Hotel Stefanie is the oldest hotel in Vienna. For sure there is plenty of marvellous tradition in the hotel - beautiful old furniture, pieces of art, engravings, silver and china displayed, but also the very pleasant staff and its elaborated ways - and the butler´s moustache - never seen such a wonderful artefact before... Obviously rooms are...

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
