Me and my boyfriend had fantastic stay in this hotel. Its just few steps from big shopping street and from metro station. Or you can also walk to the centre but we bought 3 days ticket and used metro. Hotel is very nice, clean and old, but really cool! We had beautiful room in the 6 floor, very, very big!!...

We spent 3 nights with our baby before Xmas time. It was a very enjoyable stay: - The staff: very FRIENDLY at reception and in the dining room, and very helpful to get baby's food ready. - The room: super CLEAN, witha very clean bathroom; the size was very good, and even fitted a baby cot that was provided by...

If you are not expecting luxury, and you need a place to sleep over, close to everything important in Vienna (city center, the tube, the most popular shopping street) - this is the place for you! Friendly staff, rich breakfast, internet,

Once we found our way around, we discovered it was very close to restaurants, shopping and the tube (hence close to the rest of Vienna). As other reviewers have noted it was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Free internet in the lobby or if you want it in your room via ethernet cable (supplied). We...

I have stayed for a business visit for 2 nights in the hotel. The district is very nice, quiet and at the same time pretty central. Around the corner you will find the main shopping street of Vienna and some cafes to sit around. Though, you will prefer to walk some 15 minutes down the street to the Museum quartier...

Hotel Metternich is based in an old building. Some people might say it has charm, others might say the furnishings and decor need updating. I tend to believe the latter. That is not to say it is a horrible place to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean. It's situated in a pretty good location...

Great location. Shopping street , Restaurants and subway #3 in walking distance. Hotel is located in a quiet off street. Nice interior. Free Internet access in lobby. But: Beware of room #12 it is above the area for waste cans. Very very noisy. Nice King-size bed but no small pillows available! Besides that: All quite convenient, ladies at Reception helpful...

For the traveller who is looking to stay in a quaint historical hotel instead of an ultra modern one (after all, you are in Europe!! Part of its beauty is in its historical architecture) this is the perfect place to stay. Rooms were a decent size, VERY clean (always an important factor for me) and the staff was very helpful...

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
