The staff at the front desk were excellent - I have rarely found more helpful check in staff. Both ladies spent a lot of time helping me with various requests. Really excellent service. The room was on the small side (normal size for many European hotels) and the bathroom was clean and adequate. My only complaint was that the room...

Hotel is situated 10 mins by walk from the heart of the city (public transport is not needed) and 20 mins by walk from Prater. Rooms are clean, comfortable and in a very good condition, service is very good. Wireless internet in the room is a problem, needed to use wire connection (provided in the room).

Despite a very short stay at the hotel whilst on business, the staff were very professional, welcoming and eager to please. Always with a ready smile they made it their business to respond to any request in a most positive manner. The whole hotel was clean and the bedroom was comfortable and serviced throughout my stay.

The hotel is well situated and can be easily accessed by public transportation although you still have to walk cca. 500m from Schwenedplatz or Schottenring metro stations. The staff was very kind they spoke German, English and Hungarian. The WIFI is free of charge but it is much faster via cable (also included in the room). The bed is comfortable...

Location: Just over the bridge from the city centre. Close to Schwedenplatz u-bahn (metro). Walking distance (if you are travelling light and don't mind a stroll) from Landstrasse train station where the super quick CAT train arrives from the airport (highly recommended). Vienna is a small city and you can walk to most points of interest without taking the metro....

The rooms were a bit dated in style and were rather small. The Mercure could use an update. However, the location across the river from the heart of the city was great. We got what we paid for with this hotel and if one is searching for a budget hotel with good proximity then it is a wise choice.

The rooms are very small but clean. This is a bit old hotel, so be prepared for some noise. The reception staff was a bit unfriendly and slow. Breakfast is ok. The location is very good, I found a very nice eating are a few steps walking. It is very central. You get what you pay for, no false expectations.

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
