We booked the Hotel de France through Booking.com, as it seemed on paper to be good value for a January weekend break in Vienna, a city we had not visited before. On the map it looked to be well located for the transport system, but when we got to the Shottentor U Bahn Station the hotel was signposted up the...

We went during christmas holidays. We found a good price in internet for this 5 stars hotel. But i think that it is not something more than a 4 stars hotel. Old fashion furnished (not very cozy) with nothing special and luxury in the room or in the breakfast room and lobby area. Good tip that it is one step...

If you wish to do " tourist Vienna " , it would be difficult to find anywhere more convenient than the " Hotel de France " . You are just alongside the Universtistraat U barn station , the tram interchange is equally close by . However , we had invested in a three day " Vienna Pass " , and...

Perfectly located for the Christmas markets, we walked pretty much everywhere for our December trip. Staff were lovely and polite and very quick to help us if we needed. Stayed for 4 nights, do not have any complaints. The breakfast was amazing and would definitely recommend you have an omelette. Room was spacious and bed comfortable.

We stayed here for 2 nights from the 21-23rd of December. Marty the Bartender was wonderful. He gave us amazing tips on restaurants and locations to visit and things to be careful about. He is certainly a rare gem in a large hotel. If you have the pleasure to stay at this luxurious hotel -make sure you go to the...

Had the pleasure of staying here for 3 nights in Vienna. Great location, very courteous staff and an impressive breakfast selection. Our room was lovely although the heating was zapping all moisture from my body...no harm opening a window though. Would happily stay here again should we return to Vienna.

The Hotel De France was a wonderful home base from which we travelled around Vienna for 5 days. The lovely room on the 6th floor was clean with Scandinavian style, lovely clean down comforters. Since it was a suite it had 2 bathrooms and a loft. Breakfast buffet served in the hotel restaurant was included with room charge was extensive...

When visiting Vienna for Christmas, having the metro [U~bahn] station nearby is a big plus. This hotel is 25 meters from the Schottentor station so all the city is accessible by public transport. The old town is a few hundred meters away so when it did not rain we just walked The hotel staff was friendly and accomodating, we enjoyed...

We stayed at the Hotel de France for 3 nights on a trip to Vienna in December. Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighbourhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighbourhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
