We have stayed at the Imperial Hotel twice and both times it was a wonderful experience. It is located in a very convenient central area of Vienna, yet away from traffic in a sumptuous imperial residence. Both suites we stayed in (the second being a kind upgrade in a wonderful maisonette overlooking Vienna’s rooftops) were princely and spotless, marble bathrooms and luxury decorations. Chilled champagne and fruit welcomed us upon our arrival. A nice touch was also the printed temporary visiting cards. Being a nice summer, breakfast was served outside. No buffet due to Covid restrictions, but a rich and varied menu and tasty offers elegantly presented.
Upon registration we have been presented with a nice kit of masks and disinfectant and all Coronavirus preventive measures were very stringently, yet discreetly followed.
The true, wonderful asset of this hotel is its staff. At all levels from reception, to doormen, concierge, cleaners, waiters, to the managers, they have all gone out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. Always smiling, there was nothing they could not do and made us feel at home in an Emperor’s palace. We spent wonderful days in Vienna also thanks to them. A special thank you to the Director of Rooms, Marina, who made a point of coming to greet us both times and catered for our wonderful stay. We will definitely go back

Everything exudes the atmosphere of a palace. The welcome is warm, the general areas (a.o. the lobby, stairwell, bar) have a royal appearance. The rooms are classically decorated with a.o. linen wallpaper and are comfortably furnished. We had a room with very high ceilings in the old part of the former palace and this gives an extra feeling staying in a special hotel. If you miss something, like thee cups, you only have to phone housekeeping and in no time it will be delivered. It is very nice to get a mini Imperial cake in the evening (turn down service). Breakfast is good and you can order pancakes, egg dishes like egg benedict and juice, like tomato juice. So, if you like a "classic" hotel, this is the place to be in Vienna.

This hotel is absolutely exquisite. We stayed here for 4 nights over Christmas and were treated like royalty. The hotel itself is stunning. We stayed in the most “basic” level room, which was spacious, comfortable, and beautiful.

Having just moved to Europe, we were barely in the Christmas spirit but the hotel changed all of that. On our first night, the hotel treated its guests to a Christmas Eve concert, filled with a talented a cappella group and wonderful refreshments. Even though we experienced the Viennese opera and ballet during the trip (which were sensational), the intimate concert provided by the hotel was our favorite. In addition, little treats like a tray of Christmas cookies left in our room and turndown service made it a lovely stay.

Above all, the service was superb. The hotel staff, including the Director of Rooms, went above and beyond to make sure our stay - and any future stays - are as comfortable as possible. The concierge assisted us with multiple restaurant reservations and other services.

We will always look back fondly on our first Christmas trip to Vienna, and the Hotel Imperial had an instrumental role in that. We cannot wait to return.

A fabulous hotel, that started life as a palace, very close to the city. Lucky to get a room upgrade and were even shown three different rooms so we could choose which we preferred! Splashed out on the in house ‘Opus’ Michelin started restaurant which was also very impressive although I clearly have a lot to learn about Austrian wines!
Lots to see and do in Vienna which is easy to get about, the bike hire is cheap and the city is very well set up for cyclists.
Will definitely be going back again when the weather is better because I am sure the parks/ gardens will look stunning and all the (many) fountains will be working.

We stayed with our family, kids in 20’s w Grandmother in late 80’s. We were greeted by a young woman at the front desk Miss Hofer and she helped make sure our family was comfortable. She confirmed that the grandmother’s room had an accessible bath and went out of her way to make sure our needs were attended to. The hotel was a rich couple’s home until it was converted into a hotel for the 1873 World Fair. They note that many kings, queens, presidents, and celebrities have stayed there. Many historic properties are lovely but not comfortable. The Imperial Hotel has been updated so that guests have a luxury experience; the rooms have warm floors and warming towel bars; all of the details you would expect in a luxury property; we stayed in a suite on the 5th floor with a great view. The suite had an upstairs TV/reading room that was very comfortable. The kids also had a suite with a sitting room on the same floor; The bar and restaurant areas are in keeping with the rest of the hotel and serve great food with the ambiance of old Vienna. Not inexpensive, but we preferred this to a steel and glass box modern hotel. It is clear that the owners are great stewards of this historic property and have continued to invest and keep it fresh and beautiful. This will be our hotel when we travel to Vienna.

Wow, what a hotel. From the minute you get out of the taxi you are greeted like Royalty. The hotel’s architecture only adds to the experience. An amazing stairwell which we walked down everyday. Our room was luxurious and spacious and as it was a special occasion the hotel added a few lovely extras which made our two day stay even more memorable, especially when you are visiting a beautiful city like Vienna. While we were there the hotel was being cleaned so was the outside covered in scaffolding. This in no way impacted on our stay but it would be worth checking because this is clearly a stunning looking building. Would highly recommend and will certainly be revisiting on our next trip to Vienna.

Here's a list of good points:
Location
Street view
Ambiance
Lovely big colourful room
Great room temps
Water pressure and temperature
King size bed was really comfy
Pillows were great
Nice and quiet room

Negatives
TV was old and didn't work properly. After reporting TV was fixed but still showed only 50 odd standard cable channels. No movies, no netflix login etc.
No USB ports for charging devices
No plug points near the bed
Weird headboard which made sitting up watch broken TV uncomfy
Reception/butler rarely available on phone, probably called 20+ times (always engaged) to get answered twice.
Toiletries weren't replenished over the weekend. One small bottle of shampoo/conditioner/shower gel between two people?
Shower incorrectly positioned which meant you either had to flood the bathroom or shower shaped like Gollum.
Room looked a bit bare, I guess the rugs got removed for CoViD and never replaced...
Broken blackout (electronic) blinds (though curtains worked well)
Entrance to hotel is "broken" so side doors are ridiculous as they involve queuing and a heavy door.
Cafe breakfast seemed average when I checked it out.

Dear GazHD, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed our location, your room and also our ambiance. It is most regrettable that you were not satisfied in all aspects and we appreciate your detailed feedback. I understand your frustration with our TV. We are currently working on adding a Smart Function to our TV´s or replacing them so than guests can watch TV but also stream something. I kindly ask you for your understanding that it will take a bit of time to implement a smart function in all of our rooms. Thank you for your patience. All of our telephones next to the bed (and also on the desk or sideboard) have a USB Slot for charging. I am really sorry if this was not communicated to you and I apologize on behalf of the team. Thank you for your feedback regarding the headboard. We will look into it. Our highest priority is the satisfaction of our guest, therefore it is a special concern for us that you feel comfortable and cozy in bed. It is most unfortunate, that you did not reach the front desk and we agree, that is is unacceptable that you could not get through to the Front Desk team. On behalf of the entire team I apologize for your inconvenience. Due to your feedback we have had a training today to train that all calls are answered immediately or must be called back directly. It was our pleasure to upgrade your booking of a Classic Room to a Junior Suite. However, the Butler Service was not included with your booking of a Classic Room. Nevertheless, you should be able to reach Room Service at all times and I apologize that you were not able to. On behalf of the housekeeping team, I would like to express my apologies that the toiletries were not replenished. Since your room was booked for one person, housekeeping only prepared toiletries for one person. Unfortunately, at check in we failed to increase the number of people and thus provide you with more amenities and replenish them regularly. Our housekeeping manager has already addressed this in your team, so that this error will not happen in the future. The bathroom in the Junior is relatively small as you described. Since our special hotel celebrates 150 years this year, we have very individual rooms. For our next renovation we will gladly consider your constructive feedback to enlarge the bathroom. Thank you very much for your feedback. Regarding the rugs: our Royal rooms have a special parquet floor instead of carpet in the room, as in their original state. Therefore, we have new parquet flooring in some rooms - like your Junior Suite - as a tribute to our 1873 Palais, and due to the beautiful parquet flooring, we do not have rugs in some rooms. I would like to apologize for our entrance door, which unfortunately has a defect at the moment. Our technicians are working at full speed to repair it as soon as possible. We find the current solution also very unfortunate for our guests and do our best to repair the door as soon as possible. Dear GazHD, please be assured that we take your feedback very seriously and have discusses it in detail with our entire team to learn from your constructive review and also to take measures to ensure that future stays meet our high standards. Once again I would like to thank you for sharing your constructive feedback, we fully appreciate your comments and apologize for failing to meet your expectations. It would be our great pleasure to welcome you back to the Hotel Imperial and provide you a more positive Imperial experience. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me ahead of a future visit to Vienna. Yours sincerely, Carla Wittemann Assistant to the General Manager & Quality Assurance

The last time I had visited this hotel was forty years ago! I remember very little of the visit except that I was impressed. This visit only confirmed the impression I had forty years ago. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and super professional (more on this later).

The location is fantastic. It is next to Musikverein so that you can literally cross the street to attend a concert. It is also within the walking distance of the Museum Quarter, the Karlskirche, the State Opera and the Old Town city center. It is close to Karlsplatz subway station which means you can easily access other parts of town as well if you want to use public transportation.

The breakfast buffet is superb with fresh bread and croissants, and fresh orange juice, as well jams, honey, Nutella, sausages, cold cuts, and bacon. You can also order omelets and eggs Benedict among other things.

The staff go out of their way to please. My companion loves warm croissants and brie. The staff knew this (unfortunately, I didn’t catch the name of the lady behind the buffet who did this for my companion. She is blonde and wore a white apron over a white outfit) and had those ready almost instantly the moment we walked into the dining area.

The concierge was fantastic. Although we dealt with three different ones, the person we interacted with most (again, I can’t recall the names. He is the clean shaven gentleman with glasses) helped us with transportation, directions, and restaurant reservations. The little Italian restaurant he recommended our first night in Vienna (Al Borgo) became our home away from home and we dined there three out of the four nights we were in Vienna.

As for the rooms, they are all renovated and meticulously maintained. Our bathroom was big and comfortable. This is truly a luxury hotel.

I don’t know how we could have had a better hotel experience. If you are looking for a great luxury hotel in Vienna, I think you couldn’t find a better hotel than Hotel Imperial. I hope I get the opportunity to come back to this hotel again to attend the opera and Wiener Philharmoniker concerts.

My wife and I spent 4 nights here in July. We booked an Imperial Junior Suite and were upgraded to an Elisabeth Suite, which was great. Perks of Marriott Bonvoy elite status!

Location: Could not be better. Right on the ring road, a short walk to the Opera House, next to the Musikverein and also "Pedal Power" (a bike tour that we did one day).

Hotel: Incredible! It used to be a palace and it retains this old world charm and grandeur. Look at the photo of us on the stairs.

Our room: Our room was great but also a little strange. The room was huge - entry foyer, living room, bedroom, two bathrooms. It had 20 foot high ceilings with chandeliers, silks and pil paintings. The blinds closed with a switch (way too high to reach otherwise). The bed was very comfortable (two twin mattresses to make a king-size bed) and the shower had the best water pressure. The strange: the main bathroom did not have a toilet - a bathtub, a separate shower, two sinks and a bidet but no toilet; the other bathroom (by the front door) had the toilet.

Breakfast: Declicious! Breakfast is a huge buffet with everything one could imagine or want, from hot American style breakfast items to cold continental European choices (sliced meats, cheeses, etc.) to creal to various breads and pastries. There's also unlimited help yourself champagne, The eggs benedict that I ordered from the menu was the best I've ever had.

Service: this hotel really distinguishes itself with service. I emailed the hotel a couple of times in advance and they replied quickly and comprehensively. Every request was met with a smile. We looked forward to returning to the hotel each afternoon to be greeted by the hotel staff.

(Note: I'd like to return to Vienna but don't think I'd go again in July. A number of attractions were closed or shows not running, eg. Opera, Spanish riding school, so may be better as a destination outside of the summer).

Luxurious opulent rooms with textile wallpaper and glass chandeliers. It seems that small things get repaired as we’ve had issues with shower last time and this time it was repaired (yes, we got the same room).

The staff was even more pleasant than before, with excellent concierge and efficient and friendly reception staff.

We booked a family rate which included breakfast. This allowed us to enjoy the huge and excellent brunches every day. I probably wouldn’t want to pay 41€ for breakfast if it weren’t included, but it really was very tasty.

The location of the hotel is great too, it takes just a few pleasant minutes walking to get to all the museums, theaters a many great restaurants.

There is maybe a tiny little detail they could work on. I don’t watch TV at home, so hotels are the only opportunity for me to do so. Here, they only have a very limited number of English language channels. But I’m sure watching TV is not your main reason for travelling to Vienna.

Overall, excellent and comfortable, great service. Will definitelly stay again.
