Karl could not have been kinder, and ended up giving me a ride to the train station. Very comfortable room. Own bath (and a nice shower) and a little kitchen area to prepare complimentary coffee and tea. Pay items, like a minibar, are conveniently available as well. Windows for fresh air and nice blackout shades for sleeping in and privacy....

The host, Karl, is a very nice gentleman who welcomes us with lovely Pension VITIS chocolates and offers us every piece of information about Vienna. The apartment is very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is served to the room. Karl even provides shuttle services. If time allows, we would like to stay there for a few more nights! 民宿主人 Karl...

This quaint, well located, pension was amazing. The room was exceptionally clean and quiet. It is located on the bus line, taking about 10 minutes by bus to get to the heart of the city. Karl, the owner, picked us up at the train station and delivered us back there after our 3 day stay in Vienna. Breakfast was served...

We stayed here last December for a few Days for City Sightseeing. For some extra money, Karl Gerstl picked us up at the Airport and also brought us back. That was a very comfortable way to travel because of the luggage and the many people on trains and busses. The room was quite big with everything you need in. And...

I definitely recommend Pension VITIS for the following reasons: The room is big and nicely decorated, comfortable enough (and even more) for three people. Good wooden furniture. Very convenient mini-kitchen with electric stove, coffee machine, electric kettle and plenty of dishes. Spotless clean bathroom and separated toilet room (well, everything was very clean). Wide choice of TV channels. Excellent sleep...

My wife and I just returned from a six day stay at Pension Vitis. We were impressed starting with Karl's response to our inquiry about availability, meeting us at the train station and the courtesies he extended during our stay. This is not a 5 star hotel; it is a 5 star Pension. Very convenient location with a large mall...

Pension Vitis is excellent. The owner, Karl, is unobtrusive but always there to help whenever you need it, and the communication with Karl before our arrival was invaluable. We asked him for all sorts of advice and a complete answer was always in our mail the next day. The rooms are well-appointed, extremely spacious and super-clean. The Pension isn't located...

What a great stay! For my return to the city I studied in in college, we wanted to stay in a real neighborhood away from the craziness of the Innere Stadt. Could not have picked a better place. The size of the room, the super filling breakfast, Karl and Maria's graciousness and helpfulness, were just great. It is such a...

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
