Stayed here for four nights as our original hotel had to close suddenly for construction. Although we prefer to stay in places with charm and character, the Excelsior is a perfectly adequate option for Valletta accommodation. We didn't have the breakfast and if it isn't included in your room rate it's cheaper and more enjoyable to have breakfast in town....

We stayed here for for a 3 night break and we weren't disappointed. The staff were genuinely lovely from start to finish. The room was spacious, we were at the front of the hotel (same side as reception) so had no view but this didn't matter. Robes and slippers provided. Turndown service and a courtesy call to ask if there...

Firstly common criticisms..... yes from steps building a touch in need of TLC... Secondly steps... deffo a bind if you have walking difficulties... but transport always readily available... Now the big pluses.....LOVATION... ideal... next to town and the bus station.... any bus trip is just 1 euro 5p cts..... so the island is all accessible and so cheap. FACILITIES.... very...

I took an eight hour car door to the island of Gozo - booked through the hotel. My driver and guide was David Guthrie. I could not have been more impressed with his knowledge, professionalism and kindness.he went out of his way to show me every nook and cranny in the beautiful island of Gozo. English is his "first language."...

I stayed at the Excelsior as part of a business trip. The room was of a good size and pretty clean. The breakfast was very varied with a lot of choice. We drank a number of times in the bar and found the selection good and the staff very helpful. Some of the "entertainment" was a little hard work though....

Returned after a long break and delighted to see how well the hotel is doing. Staff absolutely excellent particularly in the bar. Didn't recognise any of the issues with infrastructure that people have alluded to. Superb breakfast.

Great hotel +Great staff = Great Stay. The hotel is classic old school with staff to match. Nothing is too much trouble. Well almost - person in charge of breakfast this morning said "enjoy breakfast" through gritted teeth because we had the temerity to request a window seat! Whereas yesterday they bought a chocolate cake to celebrate our anniversary!

We recently stayed here for a short break. Wonderfully welcoming staff, comfortable room, decent buffet breakfast. We tried their evening six course buffet one evening, which was surprisingly good (and good value at €32 pp) The hotel is located a short walk from the bus terminal, so handy for trips around the island. However, there is no mention of the...

This large hotel is in a lovely waterfront position. The service from being picked up at the airport was without fault. The room was of a good standard as one would expect in a 5 star hotel. However, the hotel is situated on a hillside and unless you are leaving by car, there is a steep hike up the gardens...

“Fine- no problem The only problem we had was with one of the bar snacks which was very poor and inedible. We complained, but instead of refunding the cost, they were only prepared to offer a substitute meal. Not good for a 5 star or any hotel.”
