Our first time in Malta and felt that we had picked the right hotel. Location is excellent and we were made to feel really welcome by all staff who are genuinely friendly and helpful. They really did make our stay special. We had great room with a balcony. Only slight quibble was that the bathroom was a bit small for a ‘luxury’ hotel. The shower over the bath and toilet right behind the door was not quite what we expected but it was very clean and functional. The room was fairly quiet for a city hotel and it was a plus having the balcony to watch the world go by. We ate at Contessa a couple of times which was very good. The bar and main foyer is very comfortable and there is a feel of luxury throughout the hotel. The spa is fantastic! The outdoor pool area and view is wonderful given it is out of season. We were not bothered, but only once did a member of staff come by to ask us if we needed anything. It is worth noting that there is no member of staff close by, you are left on your own but that is probably because there was not many people by the pool. We would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Hotel's Favourite
From our first to last moment at this hotel, every single staff member met us with extreme competence and brilliant smiles. Where else could we feel so at home? As we said to the general manager, money can build beautiful buildings anywhere, but the people working there are what makes the difference. Our room was excellent and well maintained. A walk through the beautiful gardens took us to an infinity pool. Staff quickly found appropriate seatings and arranged towels and umbrellas for each guest. Bar service to the pool was frequent and precise. One could also choose to eat at the pool restaurant which offers the same menu - food choices were innovative and well suited to the hot days of July. Our favourite friendly server was Romen who served with a smile and friendly anecdotes. He made us feel valued. At breakfast, in the dining room, the hostess, Alina, was a friendly and accommodating start to our meal. The breakfast area was usually supervised by Sandra whom we called the Duchess because of her elegance and suave service. Rose was our daily server for coffee and juice and is the most delightful young lady. Bina was also a server who made us feel at home. Food service included absolutely amazing baked goods along with the traditional breakfast fare (and fantastic fresh squeezed orange juice). The breakfast chef, Domenic Zammit, supervised with great attention to details. His skills are clearly superior. Breakfast here was always an anticipated wonderful start to our day. The lounge is a well appointed, pretty meeting spot with excellent bar service, thank you Ivan. One could not enter or leave the hotel without the doormen/porters hurrying to open doors and give a friendly greeting. A German intern and an American boy were exceptional in their roles. During our stay, the hotel offered a complimentary jazz evening in the garden which was a terrific surprise and a wonderful evening. This hotel is a stately building with a prime location. However, the staff is what raises this place to the next level. From the general manager to the concierge, the room attendants to the porters, the spa staff to the front desk, everyone seemed to love their jobs and connecting with the guests. After our seven planned nights, we simply were not ready to leave and this is thanks to how much the wonderful staff of the Phoenicia made us feel at home.

My husband and I have just returned from a week at this wonderful hotel. Everything was perfect. The building is extremely beautiful and sensitively furnished. Our suite was very comfortable and with lots of space. We had memorable evening snacks in the lounge, an exquisite meal at Contessa and breakfast every day was wonderful and relaxing. Vegetarian and vegan food was much appreciated. What made the hotel stand out was the warm and friendly service from all the staff. We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay.

A wonderful hotel, ideally situated for visiting Valletta. Furthermore it is very near to the Tourist information office and bus station, and so was excellent for visiting Malta and Gozo. The staff were always helpful and pleasant. We would happily recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of staying in Malta.

An outstanding hotel. Worthy of its reputation as one of the world’s best. Warm welcome at reception, attentive staff, but not over the top! Vibe was not pompous or pretentious. Room was large, clean and well equipped. The complimentary non alcoholic mini bar was welcome. Good shower, and clean large bathroom. The spa facilities were fabulous: we enjoyed swimming and the salt room. The gardens and infinity pool area were lovely too.

For a long time we have dreamed of staying at the Phoenicia Hotel, as we have been to Malta many times over the years and often looked at this hotel in awe. This year we thought we would “push the boat out” and go for it ! It was truly a joyful experience to stay here. The service was incredible and the special style of the hotel makes it one of a kind. All of the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special and, for that, we thank you. We loved the serenity of the spa and I had a wonderful spa treatment too which was done with professional style and care. Thank you so much everyone.

From checkin to checkout this has been one of the best hotel experiences I have had. Hardly a false note in terms of accommodation, service and food. The hotel is very well placed just outside the walls of Valletta, and easily accessed bus services to around the island. The hotel lounge is serene and so pleasant to be in, the rooms are spotless and exceptionally well serviced. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Breakfast is very good, with both continental and “English” options. It was too cool to use the garden and outside pool, but what a benefit for later visitors, but we used the spa area every day. We ate several times in the contessa restaurant, and enjoyed our meals and drinks. We also had afternoon tea twice during our stay and the information on the extensive tea menu provided by Adam made each time very special. Highly recommended for a visit to stay or eat.

As a Gozitan it was our first time stay at the Phoenicia. I have always wanted to stay at the famous Phoenicia and it was NOT disappointing. You can’t get the charm and character from a new hotel. We got to Valletta at 11:30 and I understand that check in is at 3 but not only our room was ready but upgraded!!! Thanks for that made our stay extra special. The atrium dining area was spectacular nicely done. Food was excellent. My husband is diabetic and loves tiramisu so he asked if he can have his dessert without the Marsala wine, not only they made his tiramisu to his liking but made his dessert right in front of him. We highly recommend Phoenicia best stay in malta

Visited the hotel recently for my birthday whilst on holiday in Malta. Had a couple of cocktails in the Palm Court Lounge and was looked after by a lovely lady called Aisling. Top class service and always on hand with a smile. I mentioned it was my birthday and she was kind enough to bring me a little present. I was truly chuffed. Will definitely visit again. Thanks Aisling.
