I swear I'm not precious, but this place is the definition of what happens when you have a great idea to put a backpacker lodge on a sandy white beach with cool traditional accomodation and then you stop giving a toss. This place would have been great a few years ago but now it's expensive for what you get and...

Mantanani is a beautiful island with white sandy beach. And to me Mari Mari Mantanani Backpackers Lodge is situated on the best stretch of the island. The cabins (or Sulaps) are pretty much very basic with minimal furniture, a fan and there is no TV.The electricity runs from 6.30pm till 6am so it will get hot once they cut off...

We spent 7 days and 6 nights at Mari Mari backpackers just over a week ago, July 2016. Group of 2 families, with 4 kids aged 8-12. We were supposed to stay 6 days and 5 nights but due to bad weather the boat could not come from the mainland to pick us up. When the boat finally came the...

Everything is just ok in this place. Is really lacking personality. Too expensive for what you get. If you want to visit the island (which is very nice) I strongly recommend to explore the home stays in the village. Cheaper and certainly more interesting.

On a beach on a tropical island, about 1 hour by speedboat from the coast, lies Mari Mari Mantanani. The Manatanani island contains 2 small fishing villages, the Mari Mari backpackerslodge and a resort. The first day is really expensive, since it includes the pickup and return transfer from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu (KK) a 2,5 hour drive to...

Mantanani is 2-3 hour van+boat ride from Kota Kinabalu. Many of the tourists come here for day trips of snorkeling and diving, but honestly the trip is not worth it just for one day. We spent 4D3N here and was swept way by the view and the underwater ecosystem. The stingrays are fantastic and can't even be described by words....

The Mari Mari backpackers lodge has very friendly staff, moderate food (a lot of the same) and very basic cabins. Its location is amazing on the very remote island! Prices are too high and there is hardly any cells service or wifi signal. We went snorkeling which was not worth the money. Make sure to walk around the island to...

The resort charges its fees on a package-basis that includes at least land/sea transport and accommodation. Our package included breakfast and a snorkel trip, for the whooping price of RM 1,240 for two nights in a beachfront cabin or "su lap" (about US $120 a night for 2 people). The honest truth is that the accommodation and breakfast were probably...

First things first. The location is superb. Beautiful white sandy beach with a crystal turquoise sea. Nice wooden beds on the beach to have some shade and the look of the place is nice. However...the price charged by Mari Mari is extortionate for SE Asia prices and what you get really isn't worth it. The accomodation was around £90 per...
