Booked a wooden lodge as a surprise for my son and on arrival I was disgusted with what I walked into as it had clearly not been cleaned. There were cobwebs everywhere with dead insects, the fridge had actually rotted away with rust and the heater looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the day it was installed. In light of covid this was unacceptable. I emailed Mr Ritchie and he offered me a discount on my next stay however I refused this and asked for a refund of some sort as I wouldn't be returning. Mr Ritchie is now ignoring all my emails. Absolutely disgusting customer service despite him emailing me and agreeing the lodge was filthy. This place is over rated and only survives as it is close to the bike trails. Overpriced and over rated.

Another fantastic weekend at the lodges, all the staff were very polite and welcoming. The facilities are still good, the hygiene regimes stronger than ever and we all had a great time. Perhaps the management could think about increased toilet capacity because there were small queues on some mornings? Overall my entire group had a really chilled weekend with some biking, a play on Go Ape and lots of barbecued food.

We stayed here with our touring caravan in August. Booking by online form, emailed confirmation. Text received the day before arrival with pitch details. Pitch was hardstanding, with electric. Really reasonable fees as a family of 5, as priced per pitch. Good reception areas with maps of trails in Glentress and Innerleithen. Views wonderful and generally a peaceful site. Toilets and showers always clean, loads of hot water and no queues, despite site being busy. Covered washing up area but we didn’t use as wash up in our caravan. Slightly unorthodox grey water/toilet emptying into septic tank with no header- still usable but a little grim, and not come across a set up like this before. Didn’t detract from stay as used facilities provided mainly. Location excellent for mountain biking and walks in the forest. Peel cafe about 5mins walk does great coffee! Peebles couple of miles on traffic free path with takeaways, shops and couple of small supermarkets. Lots to do in the area. Only 40mins to Edinburgh. Some beautiful starry skies on the couple of clear nights we had. We found the site manager really helpful- my husband had a nasty accident on his mountain bike and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Hospital. Ian was kind and v understanding that it was hard to predict how long we’d need to extend our stay for, but assured he’d do all he could to accommodate us. He checked in on my husband’s condition regularly and helped out with me packing down. Really kind and helpful in what was a stressful time.
