Extremely expensive hotel. We booked a double room and we were disappointed to find out that our room was a hostel-like one and it was not clean enough. The staff was nice, but the service provided was not worthy. Half of the price would still have been expensive

The Salvation Army Guesthouse has 24 hour reception and is located right in central Reykjavik. Our four bed dorm was a little bit small, but OK. Toilet and bathroom were shared, but we never needed to queue for them. We rented the bedlinen, but you can sleep with your own sleeping bag too.

I stayed here with a group of students for one night, and had a great stay. My room whilst small was light, clean and well kept. Bed was very comfortable. The staff were so helpful upon arrival ad trough out the duration of the stay. Would strongly recommend if your back packing or travelling through.

Due to the crazy prices in Iceland we opted to stay in the Youth Hostel. Clean, simple, good buffet breakfast in a GREAT location! Quiet rooms, good breakfast, just a walk away from the central square and tourism office.

We stayed one night. Very centrally located in the middle of town. Clean rooms and bathrooms, and comfortable bed. Even if there were shared bathrooms, we did not have to wait too long. Nice staff, good breakfast.

We chose this accommodation because of other favorable reviews-The Lonely Planet and Rough Guide. And it was true: good breakfast (extra), nice people, adequate rooms/bath/kitchen, good price, clean and quiet and SO close to many things. Did not rent a car and didn't need one. The Salvation Army organization does many good things for people throughout the world as well.

We stayed two nights here in June 2014 on our way before and after our ring road trip. Room: Our room was perfectly adequate with a sink and small closet. The sheets and towels were clean and the bed was comfortable. The shades did a fairly good job of blocking the light and making the room dark. Bathroom: The rooms...

I stayed a week in this guesthouse. It was clean, secure, and certainly located in a fantastic place. Easy walking distance to city centre, docks, bus lines etc. The price was fantastic and the staff friendly and helpful.

So here I was, in Iceland with my budget, a couple of months to spare and my curiosity for culture, adventure and my mischievous sense of humor ready to calibrate the surroundings in my own way. Little did I know that I would find such a great enjoyment and thrilling experience at Salvation Army Guesthouse. As most of you probably...
