Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Room Tip: It can get noisy outside as it’s in town center But it’s a small price to pay for central hotel

In a brilliant location, very central in Reykjavik with handy transport links. Breakfast served had a good variety of options and there was always plenty of table available. As a solo female traveller I felt very safe both throughout the hotel and whilst in my room. The bed was very comfy and I slept well, the room was spacious and the wadrobe + desk were handy. My only issue was the horrible smell in the bathroom which was there from when I checked in until I left. If the bathroom door was left open it would start to seep into the bedroom as well. Other than that I was very happy with the room and hotel, especially given the reasonable price I paid.

This hotel is situated on the main street right in the heart of Old Reykjavik making it within easy walking distance of all the main city attractions. We booked a deluxe apartment suite which featured a small kitchenette (very well equipped), bedroom and ensuite. The room was ready on arrival and was located towards the back of the building. It was very well maintained and clean. It did lack a safe and for privacy could have done with some netted curtain across the very large window. That said the room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast is served in the restaurant and is continental with a wide selection of cold foods and breads. The restaurant also opens for lunch and dinner and all food is well cooked, tasty and presented well. Staff were friendly and discreet and happy to assist. Dont forget city tax is paid on arrival. Overall this was a great hotel in a wonderful location and a great base for our city break to Iceland's capital city.

Location is perfect - lots of cafes, bars and shops around. A few minutes walk to the Rainbow Street and Hallgrimskirkja Church. My room wasn’t ready on arrival - and they ended up allocating me a double instead. Clean and functional - although the safe didn’t work. Breakfast was good. I’m vegetarian and there was plenty of choice. I found the staff to be pleasant and helpful - with special mention to Elsa who went out of her way to take me to The Perlan Museum. There has been mention in some of these reviews about an unpleasant smell. There is definitely a ‘smell ‘but this is all over Reykjavik - it’s a sulphurous smell associated with the water. Even the high end hotels have it. So nothing to do with drainage at this hotel…! I’d definitely stay here again.

Fantastic central location. Perfect for visiting local attractions on foot and close to many places to eat and drink. We had a studio room, which was a good size, well equipped and very comfortable beds. The continental breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. Overall, a very nice place to stay, and we would definitely book here again.

I stayed at Hotel Fron in Reykjavik for 3 nights in January with my wife. The hotel is perfectly located right in the centre. Check-in was quick, and our room, a deluxe studio with a little kitchen, was warm and comfy. TV had internet issues, so there was no streaming, but it wasn't a big problem. Continental breakfast was included, but not much choice.

Lovely hotel. Right in the middle of town. Rooms were adequate (lighting was a big on the rubbish side) parking facilities were good, definitely worth paying for. The staff were friendly at check in and check out, however not very talkative at any other time.

Lovely hotel in the city centre close to bars, restaurants and shops. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Good variety of food at breakfast, croissants, bread, fruit, yogurts, meats , juices, tea and coffee. Our room (303) was a deluxe studio with small kitchenette, bathroom , twin beds pushed together and sofa. Very spacious and a balcony overlooking the street below. Bathroom was quite small but adequate with plenty of towels. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate in recommending it to friends as central to everything.

Reading some of these reviews may put you off this hotel but please don’t let it. Remember the star rating and the price. Location - excellent. Literally a few minutes walk from bus stop 6 which is where you will get dropped off/picked up if you have transfers/trips booked. In the middle of an array of shops, restaurants and bars. Rainbow street is a couple of minutes walk away as is the church. The sea front is about a 7 minute walk. Just go exploring, there is so much to see and each time you will notice something different. Check in - easy as pie and greeted by a lovely gentleman who showed us to our room at the top of the courtyard. Room 102 - small but clean. Ground floor with windows on two sides and facing out onto a side street. Room was very warm but we just turned the heating down and opened the windows and this solved the problem. Beds were so comfy and we slept great. Shower was always warm and powerful. No smell of sulphur at all. Windows are not the best so you will hear some noise when they are closed but this was not detrimental in any way. Fridge in the room was also handy. Breakfast- always plenty of bread, cheese, meats, fruit, pastries, yogurt and cereal. Coffee, tea, water, juice readily available. Not a vast amount of seating so depending on what time you eat you may have to be a little flexible. A couple of things I would like to suggest to make the hotel even better would be, Get some hooks in the room to hang up your coats. Winter coats can be big and bulky and take up too much space in the wardrobe provided. Invest in a bigger, faster toaster. The one in the restaurant does not cater for the amount of guests. Would I stay here again, absolutely, in a heartbeat. It was the best Christmas I could have wished for!
