My wife and I stayed at the Planet Apartments in September 2021 and again May 2022. These are fairly nice apartments overlooking the harbor. The furnishings are nice and efficient. A big plus is the secured parking included in the basement. The apartment have a smart TV, so we brought hdmi cables and watched some of our programs. They have Netflix and Apple TV and Amazon Prime. Kitchen include all the important appliances including a Nespresso machine. The apartment is located a couple of blocks from the main city activities. The most important part is the the staff that arranges your unaccompanied check-in. Diljá Þórhallsdóttir, the manager, helped us arrange an early check-in as our flight arrived at 8:30 am. Thank you Dilja! I’ve included a view from the living room window. We would definitely recommend staying at the Planet Apartments. Larry & Kelly, Georgetown, Texas

Perfect as usual. We stay a couple times of year to visit family and the apartment gives us room and privacy. It is close to my wife’s family and all that we need. Clean, perfect amenities and such. Again you could not ask for better.

We started our trip at Planet Apartments and it was the perfect landing spot - especially the underground parking. The apartment is spacious and the big windows make for great views. There are a few restaurants nearby and a small corner store for essentials. Getting in and out of Reykjavik is no problem from this location. We stayed 3 days and we drove out to Snaefellsnes Peninsula one day and Gullfoss the next. The day we visited in the city we walked everywhere. The apartment is close to the museums around the harbour and close enough to walk to the main area. We were a family of 3 and would highly suggest Planet Apartments to those looking to lock in a few days in Iceland.

Firstly, the manager was awesome! So helpful with check in and out! Our apartment had everything we needed our last 2 days in Iceland. We were close to the action, the shower, laundry, and kitchen were very good. The apartment was very clean, very cool. The parking in the garage was an added benefit. Very private, but not isolated. We highly recommend staying in here in the capital!

We stayed in Reykjavik for five nights in total, spending three nights at the Radisson Blu Saga, one night at the Reykjavik4you Apartments and one night at Planet Apartments.

Planet Apartments was by far the nicest place of the three we stayed at. It was well located and definitely the best value for money when we compare it to the other two places we stayed.

The added bonus was we happened to stay here mid way through our two week trip and our one bedroom apartment came with a washing machine and dryer so we were able to do our laundry which is a great bonus when traveling longer than a week.

Our family of 4 just returned from Iceland and stayed at at lovely apartment here for 4 nights. The location is fantastic - easily walking distance from Tour Bus Stop 7 and several sights and restaurants. The manager provided helpful information and was very accommodating to allow us to check in early. Our apartment had 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen and washer and dryer. The second bedroom was quite small, but was fine for our teenage children. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

We found the apartment to be good especially due to the location, but we were downgraded without any warning while we were in the air. I have read a couple of other reviews on here with the same problem and it is something you should take caution with. We had been provided our room number before leaving the states, and the room had a fantastic view so we were very excited. Upon landing in Iceland, I happened to check my email and found we had been moved to another apartment. This apartment was acceptable, but had no view whatsoever. We had gotten very excited about the view so this was very disappointing.
Also while we were there, a poor gentleman with his wife and 2 kids knocked on our door very confused about which room they were supposed to be in (Planet Apartment customer). After nearly an hour they finally were able to contact someone and get their problem resolved. Again, we were satisfied with the apartment and the location, but definitely feel we were downgraded and would have never known if we had not checked email on arrival. I will probably have to stay elsewhere on our next visit to Iceland.

We'd booked (via hotels.com) months ahead, but then got an email - just 2 days before we were due to arrive and ONLY after I'd sent a confirmatory message - to say that our reserved apartment was not "ready", but that alternative arrangements would be made.

So we showed up in Reykjavik not knowing WHERE we would be staying. We went to the original (Aegisgata 5) address we'd been given and - simply by accident - were spotted by someone who apparently works for Planet Apartments (he was about to get into his car and leave). He told us that our actual apartment was nearby and then walked us a couple of blocks westward (thankfully, it wasn't raining).

There, we were met by another gentleman, who told us he was a friend of the Planet Apartments owner and showed us into an apartment in this other building. This apartment - ironically - was larger than we had paid for, and situated somewhat closer to the center of town - but it was nowhere near as modern as the Planet Apartments block we thought we'd booked, the building itself was somewhat dingy (graffiti in the elevator, etc.), and several of the lights didn't work (including, crucially, the overhead light in the bathroom). It looked like the apartment was in the middle of having some electrical work done (open junction boxes, etc.), and it clearly hadn't been thoroughly checked-out before being offered to us. The furnishings were fussy and dark (certainly not IKEA-light and airy as in the photos here), and the artwork was an unusual combination of Audrey Hepburn photos and various Christian religious motifs. There was (strangely) a piano in the apartment, but no decent blinds (which made sleep, at this time of the year, challenging); and there was an espresso machine, but no other way to make a cup of coffee (drip or plunger).

The second gentleman was very apologetic, but he explained that the Planet Apartments' owners was sick (it sounded fairly serious) and that bookings were currently unexpectedly heavy. He did NOT explain why the apartment we thought we'd reserved was not available (perhaps because of the lower hotels.com rate we paid?).

We decided not to raise a fuss: After all, we were getting much more space than we'd paid for, which was nice. The bathroom and kitchen overhead lights never did work, but we got used to that. The shower functioned fine, the bed was comfortable, we used our in-flight sleep masks, and - as I've said - the location of the building we were in was actually a couple of blocks more central than Planet Apartments major block of flats.

Still, I don't think I'd want to book with them again: They seem - at the very least - very disorganized, and certainly unreliable. I got the sense that they were simply trying to fob us off with an inferior, older apartment than the one we thought we had reserved.

If you choose to book here - confirm everything (and don't count on anything).

One of our few disappointments in Iceland - and (in my view) a blot on the country's reputation for hospitality.

Like other reviews we found the apartments to be well appointed, spacious and clean. They have everything you need for a comfortable short or long stay. The apartments are located in the old harbour area and are within a short walk of supermarkets, restaurants, the main square and everything else you could need. In short they are really nice apartments.

However, there are a few frustrating points, one of them, as mentioned before, is gaining entry to the apartments, apart from one sign pointing you round a corner, there is nothing else. We were luckily spotted by the owner, another couple we spoke to ended up banging on random doors for help! You could spend a while trying to get into your apartment.

The second are just small cosmetic problems at the minute, such as missing light fittings in the ceiling, the shower not draining fast enough, fridge shelves taped in place and more importantly a damp patch in the bedroom ceiling. These at the minute don't detract from the overall high standards of the apartments and would not stop me from staying here again at the moment but need to be addressed so they don't mount up and detract from the stay in the long term.

We booked this apartment for the one night stay before collecting the rental car next day and heading off on the road. After ringing a bell a fellow came out to greet us (the person we corresponded with via email was not present), showed us the apartment, passed the keys and did the paper work- no problem.
Pros-
1- Very spacious and modern one bedroom apartment, well furnished and comfortable. We were a couple but there is enough room for 6 if it was allowed.
2- Understand each apartment had its own underground parking space- so a big plus if one had a car during their stay.
3- A few steps down from the entry driveway leads to a very welcomed lift (we had heavy luggage)- we were on level 2 (apartment 206?).
4- For what you get the rate was very reasonable.
5- Well heated bathroom, adjustable to your liking, as was the entire apartment.
6- Good quiet location ideal for exploring the harbour area, and short walk to other attractions.
7- Nice spacious bathroom with modern hardware.
8- Very good wifi.
9- Really a home away from home.

Cons-
1- the one bathroom was not attached to the bedroom- not a big deal.

Highly recommended!!

The building does have an elevator. I don’t remember exactly how many floors, but guess between 3-7.

Hi, I suspect that if the apartment is free you can request it. My advice is to contact the owner directly. booking@planetapartments.is You can also book directly on the website planetapartments.is/booking Though apartment 403 isn't listed by that name but perhaps you can deduct the right one from the pictures and description.

It is possible. I would not recommend it. I offer to bring another single bed in the apartment for more comfort. best regards Diljá manager
