Reykjavik Lights by Keahotels stands out for offering value in an otherwise pricey city, with guests frequently commending its cleanliness and the professionalism of its friendly staff. While the rooms are celebrated for their comfort and modern touches, some guests mention they are on the smaller side and lack certain amenities. The hotel's location garners mixed reviews, with its quiet setting being appreciated by some, yet others consider it a bit removed from the city center. The inviting atmosphere and spotless environment are consistent highlights, though it lacks facilities such as a pool or gym.

Great hotel, helpful staff and immaculately clean and well maintained. We both suffer with bad backs but the beds were really comfortable and the rooms are soundproof, we rarely heard a sound while in our room. The room we booked was just for two sharing adults and it was pretty small but perfectly functional for two adults who are in and out all day exploring Iceland.

Bathroom is really small however the shower is quite spacious. The room comes with a wardrobe, tv with British channels, plenty of plug sockets, full length mirror, two chairs, bedside tables, black out blinds and Curtains. We did have a kettle and hairdryer however didn’t use them but very handy.

This isn’t a criticism but a heads up for future guests, the ‘ complimentary breakfast’ is very much continental and given the food prices in Iceland please don’t expect to fill up on a cooked breakfast each day. They offer plenty of yoghurt, breads, boiled eggs, fruit and mini pastries along with the usual cereal/porridge etc. The breakfast is well stocked and clean/ tidy. I would have liked to have a mini fridge in the room as I think that would be really useful for guests.

We didn’t love the location of the hotel however we did use the bus stop opposite to go in to Reykjavík a few times as well as 1 taxi which costs £24 one way! We are fit and able to walk to town but with all the excursions and snow it gets tiring so something to bear in mind/plan for. The bus you need is bus number 2 to go to the city centre and bus number 15 to go to the church, all you do is scan a bank card when you get on it and at the end of the day they take the money, Around 900isk return.

Plenty of restaurants neighbouring the hotel however they close quite early so I would say going in to Reykjavík is better as there are more options!

Lastly, we had no problems getting excursion transfers and pick ups because they pull up right outside the hotel.

We would definitely stay here again, Thank you very much.

This hotel for an overnight stay was selected for it's location to the cruise terminal, where we disembarked on our cruise. The receptionist Leva was extremely helpful in storing our bags, confirming our reservation for transportation to Keflavik Airport, and securing tickets for the Hop on Hop Off Bus (pick up was a short walk from Reykjavik Lights). We had to check out before breakfast, but coffee and croissants were provided at 3:00 a.m. True to information provided, the shuttle bus to FlyBus was quite prompt - picked us up at 5:15 a.m. The room was pretty sparse, but bed was comfortable. No kleenex - only toilet paper to use in it's place. Black out drapes would have been nice, as the 'midnight sun' kept the room light during the night. The heated towel rack was a nice touch in the bathroom, but no washcloths were provided. Tea pot in the room for tea and instant coffee, cups and spoons provided, but no napkins. If we ever go back to Iceland, and we have an overnight in Reykjavik, this would be our choice for a hotel. By the way, several eating places within short walk of the hotel.

Highly recommend this hotel, nicest city hotel I have stayed in. The rooms are brilliant size, very well heated (we came in November and was still warm in the room) and the bathroom is so modern. Amazing TV and facilities in room with kettle and hairdryer. If you need anything reception are so accommodating and helpful. We arrived early and we were able to check in after receptionists checked on our room, they made us feel so welcome throughout. Couldn’t be happier with the service was so quick and friendly, also with a luggage room if need-be for free!

Great location, all tour buses pick up from there and had no issues. 15 min walk (slow) to the centre but there are many different restaurants and shops nearby. Also bus stops outside (public transport) if you dont want to walk. Can also arrange taxis etc from reception. There are also a little shop in the lobby with a nice bar with happy hours daily.

The breakfast was absolutely amazing. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Was very clean and immaculate despite there being a lot on offer. No complaints at all, fresh food was constantly being brought out.

It was my birthday when staying and the staff were so sweet and actually gave me a treat as a gesture and I found that so amazing. Truly reflects how amazing the place is. The mountain views are absolutely stunning on a clear day. Thoroughly recommend to anyone travelling to iceland.

Stayed here for 5 nights. Really good choice. It’s one of the only hotels to benefit from excursions/transfer drop offs and pick ups directly to the door. Located 5 mins walk from laugardelur - the best pool complex in Reykjavik. (Open 6am-10pm, 50m outdoor, plus leisure pool outdoor and 2 indoor pools, all lovely & warm, open year round, plus all the hot ‘pots’ /hot tubs to lounge around in ). Hotel spotless, very helpful & friendly staff. Chose this hotel as it was one of the only ones to have breakfast included - a very good decision. Breakfasts were lovely - (don’t expect full English) - wide choice, porridge with loads of additions, fresh lovely pastries, eggs, cheeses, meats, herrings, skyr, fruit, berries, good range of fresh warm breads, salad veg -a good start to the day. Room faced the road, with ice capped mountains beyond (was v quiet- no problem), very clean, functional and super comfortable bed. Slept like babies! There’s an option not to have room cleaned / towels changed - helps the environment - and plenty of electric sockets ( take a European adapter) to charge devices etc. Bus stop almost opposite for frequent cheap (60p ish) 10 min journey to the city centre (bus numbers 5 or 15 to city centre, or 2 for city centre AND harbour - no cash needed - we used contactless). My concern that i5 might be a journey to get to restaurants was quickly dispelled - there’s several within a few minutes walk. Great Italian right next door, Vietnamese a few paces further, Arkus brasserie 2 mins walk - wonderful seafood & lamb there reasonable prices too - and Gull zero alcohol beers (dry January is EASY to maintain here) , kruska next door the other way - cafe style lovely grub - and a salad / poke bowl place 2 mins away too. Plenty more on the street behind up the hill a bit. We will stay here on our next visit - nothing not to like!

Very nice hotel with a good location, close drive or a bus stop on the opposite side of the road if you're not driving. Also if you are driving, there are a set amount of spaces in the multi story car park at the back, so you won't need to scrape the ice and snow off from your car each day.

Friendly service and quick to help with any questions.

Our room was of good quality, it was clean and the heating made it very homely when returning from being out in the cold!

As a Brit, the offer of free tea downstairs (24 hours as well, mind!) made it a nice touch.

The breakfast we had as a part of the deal was very nice, fresh and a healthy mix of fruit, bread, meats and cheese. There was an option of cod liver oil, if that takes your fancy.

Wife and I spent 4 nights in January 2025. Rooms were clean but a little small when compared to American type hotel rooms, but they very efficient, location was a 10 min cab ride from restaurants and shopping, although there was a great pizza place right next door. We got to the hotel around 9am very tired and hungry and were offered early check in and continental breakfast for 50 euro, we took it and were very happy we did. The best part of this hotel is the staff especially the front desk! they were very helpful with directions and arranging tours as well as resolving changes to the itinerary. We are very happy to find a quality hotel at this price range.

This hotel is the best mid priced hotel we have ever stayed in, modern, always pristine, efficient, very friendly/helpful staff throughout our stay. Much more so than the TUI reps designated to us.
The breakfasts were plentiful, great choices, I loved making my own waffles each morning, the bread was so fresh, everything easy to find.
The shower oh my word.. heaven after being out in the cold all day & the heating so efficient, even the towel rail warmed up so quickly.
Beds were very comfortable, we were on the front on the 3rd floor & the noise was minimal, the hotel wasn't overly busy.
The rooms aren't huge but for the two of us they were perfect, plenty of space to put your belongings for a shorter trip.
In the lighter days this hotel would be an excellent choice as a base if you hired a car to explore the rest of Iceland & this is what we plan to do, there is so much to do & see.
The walk into town is 20/30 mins but it's easy to do as is getting the bus up & down.
Be aware Sunday afternoon onwards there is very little open & the hotel only has snacks.
The cups in your room are small, we used our travel flasks & got some milk for 95kr from netto, (55p) no fridge but the window ledge is plenty cold enough. The tap water is very pleasant too.
Iceland is an expensive place & as a tourist you have to be very aware of the cost of things/exchange rate but that has nothing to do with the hotel, this hotel is fabulous

Great hotel. The staff at reception, breakfast and cleaners couldn't be more polite and helpful. They always helped with a smile. Breakfast was amazing. Bread was particularly good. There was great choice of drinks (various teas, coffee, juices), fruits, sweet treats, fish, meat, cheese, yoghurts, porridge, cornflakes and so much more. All delicious and sweet pastries made on the day warm. There was no shortage of anything. Thank you to kitchen staff for this amazing service. Cleaners were also very helpful and staff at reception helped with booking excursions, buses, trips, luggage and more. Hotel is SUPER clean! Even floor under bed could be a table (I dropped something and needed to retrieve it). There is amazing smelling shampoo and body wash in bathroom as well as hairdryer. Duvet and pillows are heavenly and feel like down. Room has kettle, teas and coffee. Hotel is close to a bus stop that can take you to the town but we walk is a straight and short on main road for about 25 minutes (we walk fast though). There is supermarket netto close by, pizzeria and other restaurants under the hotel. All in all we loved it and would highly recommend it

We stayed here for 4 nights in December whilst visiting Iceland. The staff at reception are very helpful and friendly and were able to assist in booking taxis and also information on the various tours available. Breakfast is a continental style with cereals, yoghurt, waffles, bread, fruit, cheese, vegetables, boiled eggs and cold meat available. The staff at breakfast work incredibly hard to ensure that the tables are kept clean and cleared promptly upon people finishing their breakfast. The rooms are small, but comfortable and offer lovely views of mountains. To walk into the town centre of Reykjavik is about a 35 minute walk. We did get a taxi on one occasion although that costs around £20. The reason that I didn’t give this hotel 5 stars is due to us requesting for our room to be cleaned (after two nights) although this didn’t happen. We spoke to reception the following day and our room was cleaned…..however, we were shocked when we returned to find that the windows were open and the room freezing cold. Bearing in mind that it was around -2 degrees outside, the last thing we wanted to do was to return to a cold room. We would have given 5 stars if it wasn’t for this. I suggest that this needs to be raised with the cleaning staff.

Stayed here for a week and it was just what we needed. Typical small, well appointed European hotel room. It had 2 single beds pushed together with two individual duvets. I really would have loved a small fridge as we did a lot of driving and bought groceries to have sandwiches on the road - fortunately we were able to keep the food somewhat cool by the window, but a fridge would have really helped!

The room and common areas were always very clean and the front desk staff was very helpful with any small requests we had (laundry bags, toothpaste, glasses), as well as advice on parking, calling tour operators, etc. The breakfast was also a typical continental affair with hot oatmeal and waffle maker - but above average with the freshness and selection of cold items (the hummus was particularly delicious!). It's not really walkable to downtown, but is located close to one of the main roads if you're doing road trips but want to be based in Reykjavik. Although it's located on a main road, it wasn't noisy at all. There is also free covered parking, which is great in inclement weather!

You can't go wrong here!
