We have just returned after 4 lovely nights at these superbly located apartments. Our Corner view apartment could not have been more perfect . My daughter loved Laing in bed viewing up and down the road we really got to see a lot going on. Was fab to leave the midnight New Years eve celebrations and be bed soon after as so close ! not that we slept the town parties well and we loved it. Rest of the 4 nights we slept so well in the beds . The kitchen diner was well equipped and all so clean and comfortable and easily adjust temp controls to suit. Supermarket just 5 mins away good prices but the Bakery wa the best ever and we bought Sourdough Bread , Pastries and Sandwich fillers ( tuna Mayo ) to make amazing sandwiches for trips out . Reception were really helpful getting us a route to the New Year bonfires and we also went to the local Swimming baths Sundhollin 8 mins walk away with hot tubs and indoor and out door pools it was so cheap and a fab experience, but you must shower naked !! gets u prepared for Blue Lagoon ! We saw the Northern Lights :-) and snow mobiled in beautiful sunshine on fresh snow , we were very lucky . Definitely a fab apartment to stay in thank you

When looking for a central location they aren’t any better. The whole process of the stay was so relaxing, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The apartment was spacious and had a fully equipment kitchen to make it so you really didn’t need to go out to eat, I’d been warned about restaurant prices. There was more than enough pillows/bedding and towels. The room was very clean and tidy and apart from a loud (elephant) stomping upstairs we didn’t hear anyone else.
If you plan to do any tours you are only 5 minutes from several major bus stops (6/8/14) which makes it very easy to get back to the apartment after a long day /late night.
You really can’t find a more central location for as good a value as Rey apartments.

We booked Rey Apartments as we wanted a central location, with a kitchen. We were warned about the price of eating out and kept the cost down by having breakfast in the apartment and cooking a few meals. The apartment had 1 bedroom, with a double bed and 2 singles then a kitchen/diner/living area. The kitchen had fridge, oven, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and microwave. Alongwith the utensils it was all that we needed. The shower was hot the rain fall shower was great.

We booked a taxi transfer as we had late flights but you can get a bus transfer and the bus stop isn't far to walk. But with kids and luggage we decided not to chance it.

On recommendation from the Taxi driver we shopped at the Bonus supermarket about 5 min walk away, it had everything we needed and more reasonably priced than other supermarkets. We also used the bakery around the corner, lovely fresh baked bread/treats.

We had prebooked serveral trips and the bus stops where we were picked/ dropped off was a 10min walk with kids. We used Reykjavík Sightseeing but there a lot of tour companies to choose from. We also walked to the sites in Reykjavík, we walked to the Perlan one day and got the complemtary bus back. Another day we walked to the Fly over Iceland and back (with a stop for coffee and waffles).

The location is great, there was some noise from 1 bar on Sunday night but it wasn't that loud and really didn't bother us. There was some road noise and people walking past. But it was sporadic considering we were in the centre. It's so close to shops, bars, cafes and restaurants so no car required.

Overall, great location, warm clean apartments and friendly helpful staff. Perfect for families.

We had another lovely stay, comfortable bed, great shower, nice kitchen, sat. tv and very warm. Perfect for all our needs, we will be back again soon. Although centrally located we did not find street noise to be intrusive and having many of the Reykjavik attractions close by we were happy to walk everywhere.

I can’t say enough about how perfect this place is. It’s located right where you want to be, but easily accessible to multiple bus stops for tours. Check in with Marco was super easy. I had everything I needed. I picked up some tea and snacks to put in the kitchen which was great for days when I didn’t have to be up and out early. My room was lovely and very quiet. The rain shower felt particularly good after being out exploring all day. I’d highly recommend this place and would definitely book it again if I return to beautiful Reykjavik.

This property was well situated in downtown close to shopping, restaurants and sightseeing attractions. The property does not have an elevator but the front desk assisted with baggage at both check in and check out. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and immaculate.
Marion (lovely French lady) was amazing and so very helpful. Can't wait for our next visit to this glorious city.

The location was excellent, room was clean and staff very friendly. But our room was not as advertised as you can see from the pictures. Fridge did not have a freeze, so no ice for drinks, no phone in room so we had to walk to hotel 3 blocks away every time we needed assistances. There was no closet or drawers to hang or put your clothes in, which is ok if you are only there over night but we were there for the week. Had to leave our clothes in our suitcases on the floor between our bed and the tv all week.

The light just outside our room into the courtyard did not work and at night it was very dark and you couldn't see the key hole to open the door, we had to use the light on our phone. Four days in a row I walked the 3 blocks up to the hotel (no phone in room) to ask them to fits the light and even one day asked a person working around the property to have the light fitted. This light was never fitted during our 6 day stay.

We were given two keys for our studio, one was to open the gate to the courtyard and the other was for our room. The evening we arrived it was wet and raining, the key to the courtyard gate would not go all the way into the lock and we could not open the gate. We had to get assistance to open the gate, then the key to our room was the same but we finally got it into the lock and opened our room. The next day I took another walk up to the hotel to deal with our lock problem, they advised they would have someone oil the locks. In the meantime we left the courtyard gate unlocked to ensure we could get in. Finally on our third day of complaining about the locks they gave us a different set of keys, these keys worked well on our room door but still not on the gate. One day after returning from a long excursion we found the gate locked again and we couldn't get in, so we had to walk back up to the hotel to get assistance. The clerk came down to our apartment to try and open the gate for us, he could not open the gate either and had to climb over the gate to unlock it from the inside.

The light and gate lock was never resolved during our 6 day stay. The room was comfortable and clean but had not been renovated as advertised on their website. Not having a phone in the room to contact the hotel 3 blocks away was very inconvenient, along with no freezer for ice and no where to hang our clothes.

Apartment was clean, easy to find, in the middle of the heart of Reykjavík. The only negatives are parking and such a late check in. Most flights from northeast arrive early AM, a 3 o'clock check in effectively costs you a day.

I am slightly baffled to find such excellent reviews that made me choose this apartment but I could not find the basic necessities in the kitchenette. The initial double room provided was the tiniest studio with hardly any breathing space. My Travel agent intervened to get the room changed but I truly believe that the room given could not be a family room. It was in direct view to the on road pedestrian and closing the curtain made it suffocating and dark.
Even basic hostels have more kitchen utensils that this apartment which has gained such great reviews. This maximum can be suitable for a night's stay but definitely not for family.

The apartment is a great size and great location but partiers on the street and gunning cars kept us awake past 3 am EVERY night! Unfortunately I would not be able to recommend this location due to the level of street noise. It was constant from 9pm to 3am. Needed better sleep for hiking, etc

Hi, unfortunately, Rey does not have laundry machine and the only self service laundromat that I knew of just closed. However, 5 minutes away there is dry cleaning that also do laundry, the name is Udafoss and is located on Vitastig 13

Hi, Are there safety deposit boxes in the apartments? Thanks
Answer from Geir_101
Reykjavik, Iceland
Hi Kate, No unfortunately there are no safety deposit boxes in the apartments. We have decided that there wasn't a need for that as you can lock the apartment and the front door of the building. In addition, we have security cameras at the outside entrances. The cleaning staff have worked at Rey for 7 years without a problem therefore, we trust them 100%. Thank you for the question, Kind regards, Geir
