Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We really liked our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient for us - right by the Rainbow Road, which made it very convenient to shops, restaurants, and bus stops

Stayed here last week with my wife ,son and grand daughters for 3 days on arrival my sons room only had 2 beds instead of 3 as booked due to the hotel being full he couldn't change rooms but the 2 girls on Reception were really apologetic and helpful making up a bed with quilts and pillows for our 4 year old and were so helpful. Room was small but clean with walk in shower and tea and coffee provided also a small fridge in room .Breakfast was okay cereals ,fruit ,cold meats ,cheese etc but no hot choices .Location is great right in the main street a little bit noisy at the front of hotel due to entertainment in bars. Downside if you have a car parking is hard to find as hotel in pedestrian area but is free from 9 pm until 9 a.m. all in all nice stay .

Great location for shops, bars and restaurants! Basic rooms but clean! Be prepared that buses can’t come up to the hotel as it’s pedestrianised so a walk up a hill is required. The lift was out of order when we arrived but was soon resolved by reception!

Loved this hotel - very friendly and central. There are lots of centerhotels around Reykjavik centre so be sure to find the right one. Room was a bit noisy because of the pub next door but we were so tired it didn’t bother us much. Breakfast was lovely, toast, cereal, tomatoes, cucumber, beetroot cubes, hard boiled eggs, cheese meat, porridge, skyr yoghurt and honey, seeds, small cakes/flapjacks and drinks Rooms have a kettle and mini fridge. TV shows English channels but not ITV1 or BBC1. We watched bbc news and sky news. Shower is lovely and strong, shower gel and hair conditioner on pump. Face Flannel supplied. Toilet very strong flush which is ideal. Rooms pleasantly warm and window opens ajar if required. Adequate number of sockets to charge things, but would recommend taken a 4 gang socket so only one travel plug needed.

Loved my stay here. The location is excellent close to the harbor, shops, restaurants and bus stops. The property was very clean and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Additionally, the staff was friendly, polite and very helpful. Rooms and bath are small but fine for the price. The only issues with the room was it was too warm for me, even when i turned the heat off, and that the refrigerator didn't get too cold. But those were minor for me

On the one hand the location is fabulous- in the centre, a minute walk from Rainbow Street, and with everything within touching distance However with such a central location comes noise, and lots of it 10 metres from our bedroom window a live band played EVERY night until 11pm, so we were disturbed until 11.30pm every night as people staggered out the venue Hotel itself was clean, friendly, comfortable, warm, and perfectly adequate Breakfast was better than expected with lots of options Overall we were satisfied

Location was excellent. room was tiny, no where to put anything. mould on bathroom tiles and window cill. bedside light was broken. curtains were hung down and did not fit window. nets on window were too small and did not fit window. website advertised all rooms as 'spacious' with a 'mini bar'. this is incorrect. this hotel needs refurbishing (or at least the room we were in does). Constant humming sound through night which kept us awake.

Advertise breakfast this was a continental breakfast. Cheap and inexpensive breakfast. Towels are not charged regularly and not a clear understanding during check-in process about room cleaning. And this extra taxed to your should have been voided since the hotel was prepaid. And the hotel should have endure the expense.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We are committed to providing a clear understanding of our services, and we apologize if there was any confusion regarding the continental breakfast and towel change policy. Regarding the extra tax charge, this was implemented by the government and, unfortunately, was not something we could void. We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you back in the future. Best regards, Gintare Hotel manager
