The Hotel is a very special hotel. Rooms are attractive in their simplicity. But the unique feature is the comprehensive collection of Icelandic art. Interesting artwork all over, public rooms, restaurant, corridor, guest rooms. Wandering around the hotel is an esthetic pleasure. Other reasons to recommend the hotel: wonderful staff, helpful, charming and the perfect location - quiet street yet...

Excellent location near many sights. As others have said, the rooms are a bit worn, but they are not shabby and perfectly comfortable and a decent size. A fan may be needed in the summer. Breakfast buffet was ample, tasty and in nice setting, with good options and well prepared, albeit not of luxury quality -- for example made to...

Arrival 5/5. We arrived very early (09:30) after a 3 week cruise from Miami via Canada and Greenland and hoped to just leave our bags in a safe store and walk around the town. They kindly suggested that if we wait 30 minutes, we could check in and go to our room. Not very often this happens. We stayed for...

The hotel is well located and a 5-10 minute walk will get you to all the major sites in the Reykjavik (Harpa, Hallgrímskirkja, the main shopping district etc.). The hotel is on a quiet street and has parking. Rooms are clean, but not fancy. I highly recommend getting a junior suite as they have balconies - and ask for one...

We stayed at Hotel Holt after a cruise for just one night. We arrived around 10:30 am and were able to have our room in about 30 minutes. The lobby and hallways are definitely dated and in need of refurbishment, but were very clean and comfortable. Artwork throughout the hotel was enjoyable. Our room, the minimum double category, was very...

Our flight from the US arrived in Iceland at 11:30pm, thus by the time we obtained our luggage, rental car, and drove to the Hotel Holt, it was close to 1am. When we arrived at the hotel, the door was locked and we waited quite a while for someone to answer the buzzer to let us in. The gentleman who...

This understated, unpretentious but very comfortable hotel is convenient for walking all over downtown Reykjavik and has a fantastic collection of Icelandic art for guests' enjoyment. Rooms are very comfortable, including nice down pillows. I really appreciated the helpful chat feature on the website, which I used before arriving to confirm how to get there from the airport late at...

We stayed here as a family for two nights in a junior suite. Everything works (!), from the WiFi to the heating. Parking is free and beds are comfortable. Breakfast is ample and relaxing. Sigurd, the receptionist was extremely competent: made our dinner reservation and smoothed our onward travel. I could stay here for several weeks - recommended!

Stayed here leading up to Xmas and each night a troll was placed on our door with a message. Trolls are the Icelandic Xmas tradition! The hotel and rooms are of a high standard and the decor is very chic. The bar is excellent. Centrally located. You won't be disappointed.
