This guest house is unique because of Edda and her husband . The kindness and welcome shown to our family which included our beautiful two year old grandchild , made our visit to Iceland memorable for many reasons . Nothing was too much trouble and Edda went out of her way to accommodate us all and even researched weather reports...

Dear Edda and Runar, Thank you very much for the warm hospitality we enjoyed at your guesthouse. These few days were the nicest days we ever had outside of our home. Special thanks for delicious breakfasts you made for us. One day we go back to Reykjavik and definitely will stay at Eric the Red. Again thanks for everything. We...

We arrived in Reykjavik in the dark, in the rain, at 8am, after flying most of the night. As we walked up the steps to our hotel, Eric the Red Guesthouse, we were greeted by the heavenly smell of fresh baked bread. Our hostess, Edda, quickly ushered us to the communal breakfast table and poured cups of steaming Icelandic coffee....

My wife and I stayed 5 nights at Eric the Red Guesthouse, run by Runar and Edda, and lovingly monitored by Reggi (not sure of the spelling) the friendly cat. Runar and Edda were both great hosts, providing a very comfortable, cozy home away from home in a convenient location in the city. Reggi stayed in our room one night...

Within walking distance of the town centre. Has a couple of inexpensive restaurants (by Icelandic standards) within 300 metres. Small but comfortable room and a good breakfast. Edda provided us with a packed breakfast when we had to catch a 6:30am flight from Keflavik on our last day. Lovely people!

Nice, cozy and home-like accommodation with very quiet and central location. We had even a small kitchen in our room for 3 persons. Very friendly hostess and host. Good breakfast served i around one big table. Good value for money. I recommend.

TAKK to Edda and Rúnar, the hosts of Eric the Red, who made my stay very cosy and pleasant at the end of October. Staying at their guesthouse felt like home and it was nice to exchange views with the other guests over a rich breakfast. For cat lovers there is an added bonus: Raggi, their beautiful ginger cat. Edda...

It's easy to find being so close to the landmark Hallgrimskirkja church but from outside the Eric The Red Guesthouse you will have no idea how wonderful it is inside. First there is the warm welcome from hosts Edda and Runar. Then you see all the wonderful paintings in the lobby, up the staircase, in the first floor sitting area...

Unfortunately, did not get to stay in the Guesthouse, as it was sold out, but was able to rent the 2 bedroom loft apartment run by Edda and Rúnar. Edda took us from the Guesthouse to the apartment and showed us around. She even dropped us off at Bonus so we could pick up some breakfast items before the store...

The best thing about this guest house is location, full stop. Easy walking distance to town. Some things to be aware of, the guesthouse is not the same as the photo shown on website which makes it initially hard to find. It would be helpful to have an address showing on the building somewhere. The address is Eiriksgata 6, Reykjavik....
