The location was about perfect. It was central to everything in Reykjavik. Everything was recently renovated and very clean. We rented a 1 bedroom apartment for My wife daughter and myself. I would have given it 5 stars but the parking is a bit tough in the area. They do have some spots but you are not guaranteed a spot. I know it is a small complaint but it was a bit of a pain from time to time. Having said that I will not hesitate to stay there again. We loved Iceland so much we will be going either in 2021 or 2022 depending on the pandemic. We stayed there during June/July for 9 days in 2019. I know the review is a bit late

- They respond quickly via emails - It affordable - Self-check in with pin number is really convenient - Location is perfect- right on the main street - Yummy pizza place a couple doors down - Nice and quiet & safe - Front balcony and back balcony - Wall hand soap, wall body soap, wall conditioner, dish soap in kitchen - Coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, stove - There is a large tv that we never watched since we had so much planned - There’s an elevator - There’s lots of closet space - The hair dryer is good quality - The shower water is nice and warm if you figure out that you need to press in the bottom dial to the left. Make sure to turn the top knob to the middle to shut it off fully since itll continue to run if you done. - We walked everywhere and did not need a car. Lots of bus stops around that are super close. - You are right downtown near all the shops and restaurants. Harry’s restaurant is directly in front of the apartment and there’s a souvenir shop right next door to your apartment. - Even with it being a main street, its not very busy and very safe to walk down. - The apartment is very large and has hardwood floors. Very cozy. Negatives. - Couldn’t find thermostat. Adjust via round knob on radiators - 2 partial rolls of toilet paper were left for 4 girls for 5 days. We emailed for more and were sent an auto email linked to their cleaning service. We went out and purchased toilet paper and came back to toilet paper outside our door. Someone had also gone into the apartment and taken out the trash and removed the bath mat (weird). It creeped us out a bit that someone was in our apartment without us knowing. The room is set to sleep 6, but only 5 towels were given, 2 hand towels and no face cloths. Since there are no paper towels, we use the hand towels in the kitchen and bathroom. We asked for more towels and were told there was only 1 per person. I was surprised that we were expected to use the same towels for 5 days. When we arrived, the fridge was open and the towel warmer was hot and on. The listing states a king bed plus others, but there was only a full bed, a cot and 2 twins pushed together which just fit wall to wall. The futon couches are fine, but are white pleather and show dirt/wear. You can schedule their cleaning service via their app but its an additional cost. The bathtub/shower is hard to get into. Its high off the ground, invites slipping and there is no curtain. If you don’t have the glass flap inside of the shower, the bathroom floor will be covered with puddles of water. There is no fan in the bathrooms. Someone had left the back balcony door open and unlocked when we arrived and a window partially open which took us forever to find where the high pitched sound was coming from. When I arrived 5 min before check-out to grab my bags, they had already locked us out and changed the code. Thankfully my roommate was in the room and let me in. The 2 trash pails are tiny and hold hardly any trash. I was able to use my converter to charge my phone and laptop but other electronics are too powerful and will short out if you plug them in When we arrived the internet was not working. I unplugged it and plugged it back again and it worked and then stopped again. I did this once more and then it was fine for the duration of the trip. We walked everywhere and did not need a car. Lots of bus stops around that are super close. You are right downtown near all the shops and restaurants. Harry’s restaurant is directly in front of the apartment and theres a souvenir shop right next door to your apartment. Even with it being a main street, its not very busy and very safe to walk down.

We stayed in a deluxe 2 bedroom apartment, we arrived early and they were able to let us check in about 1 hour before we should. We were orginally staying on the 2nd floor but ended up having the apartment on the top floor. This was appreciated and we had 2 large balconies with great views out the back. The location of the aparment was at the quieter end of the street and the bedrooms are at the back so it was very quiet. The positives are that the apartment is large size, has good shower facilities, plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner and handwash provided. The negatives are that it does seem a bit tired in places, for example the door frame in the bathroom has a chunk missing and the tables in the lounge were chipped. The heat control dials on the radiators didn't seem to work so the heating was either on really hot or you had to have it switched off so there was no in between setting. The dial was really hard to turn in the master bedroom. The last thing was that the beds seemed really soft and this was uncomofortable. This is partly personal preference I appreciate that but I don't know if the mattresses were worn or if they are just soft. Overall it was a great location and staff were really helpful but the heating and the lack of sleep for us were the main issues, other reviewers mentioned that the bedding is a bit scratchy and I felt like it could have been better quality too.

Room Tip: If you have a deluxe ask for the top floor as you get 2 great balconies!

I stayed here for four nights with my wife and adult son. Plenty of space - two bedrooms and large living room / kitchen. We were on the third floor. Some noise from street below but bedrooms at the back so no problem. TV had some UK channels - may have appreciated some Icelandic ones to get the weather forecast. Some DVDs too. About two minutes from tourist bus stops 9 and 10. Supermarkets nearby too. Lots of restaurants on street outside. Could take six people. Cleaning is extra but not needed for short stay. There is a lift. We arrived early and had to store luggage in nearby swimming pool lockers. So, good choice if visiting Reykjavik.

We have just returned from 6 nights at these fabulous apartments and I would return in a heartbeat… in fact we did! Our Airbnb fell through for the three nights we had planned it for and Reykjavik4You stepped up and found us space at an hours’ notice. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment each time (we were once on the ground floor and once on the third). The apartments were spacious, well equipped (kettle, microwave, oven, fridge, cooking utensils etc.) and it was nice to have such a good living room space – large sofa, separate chair and large TV for watching DVDs on the dark evenings. There was even a selection of DVDs on offer in each apartment to watch. The location is great, less than 2 minutes stroll to a market (Super 1), a coffee shop (a cat café on the corner), a deli (on the corner heading away from the town centre) and was around 5 minutes’ walk to the main shopping street. We walked to the harbour one day and I think it was around 10 minutes stroll. There was free parking onsite and we did not have an issue finding a space on any day we stayed – and there is paid street parking and a car park nearby if that was an issue. The check in and check out procedures via mobile/email/website was seamless and so easy to use – I wish more places made it this easy. All in all, this was a great place to stay when using Reykjavik as our base and we would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you to all of the team at R4Y!
