Welcome to the Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, where Icelandic history and style meet. Once a 1900’s department store operated by Consul Thomsen’s family, this charming building has been renovated with modern amenities and nods to Reykjavik’s vibrant culture. It’s a quick walk from our city center hotel to Iceland Parliament, Harpa Concert Hall, the Laugavegur main shopping street, and top restaurants.

When I booked this trip I went back and forth looking at different hotels and I finally selected the King Deluxe room at the Reykjavik Konsulat. Well, I was not disappointed by this selection. This was a very well appointed room with lot of space, great lighting and storage. The king sized bed was very comfortable and I loved the bedding. There was a small couch at foot of the bed which was great to watch tv or put on your shoes. The bathroom was very well appointed with a massive shower with both a rain shower head and a handheld unit. The expresso machine got quite the workout as well. I was also fortunate to have a small balcony (see pics) that was not advertised as they said they cannot guarantee a room with one. Location: this hotel is in the heart of city center. You can walk quickly to so many places - it's about 5 minutes to the scenic waterfront walk. There are so many good places to eat and drink within a few minutes walk. The "penis museum" is right next door also and I'll be reviewing that as well. I had a few minor suggestions for the hotel and included them in the survey they sent me. Well 15 minutes after I submitted the survey I received a personal e-mail from the hotel manager thanking me and saying they will review everything I suggested - you don't get that type of service many places these days. Lastly, I want to thank Margarita who checked me in and helped on a few occasions....service that was above and beyond!

Hotel's Favourite
I stayed here during the last week of July 2021 for three nights. This hotel is exceptional! Service - A team of knowledgeable English-speaking professionals is everywhere you turn. The front desk team is remarkable. They helped me make my COVID-19 test appointment, were always helpful and spot-on with recommendations, and were always smiling and friendly. The wait staff in the restaurant during the breakfast buffet and the wait staff at the bar during the social hour were just like the front desk staff. Impeccable person-centered service is highlighted at this hotel! Room - I was assigned room 219. I loved everything about the room......exposed stone, cozy, dark wood, wood floor, comfortable, great black-out curtains, super clean, mini-refrigerator with snacks, two twin beds with super comfortable mattress, sheets, and comforter. The rainfall shower was excellent....incredible water pressure and hot water temperature. L'Occitane En Provence bath products and lighted magnified mirror. Hotel Information - The hotel has 50 rooms and four floors. Gorgeous lobby with dark woods, exposed stone, incredible art work, classy furniture, nice calm lighting, and comfortable seating areas. The breakfast buffet was bountiful and fresh with lots of hot, cold, and healthy choices. They had an excellent "social hour" from 6:00pm to 7:00pm each evening that included a free beer or wine and a tapas size meal. It was very nice. Parking can be a challenge for those with a rental car. Street parking is not easy to find (it is free on Sundays). There is a safe, new, and convenient underground parking garage very close to the hotel, but making payment was annoying as it never would accept any of my credit cards. Location - It is centrally located just steps away from restaurants, bars, museums, and shops. You can easily walk to Ráðhús Reykjavíkur (Reykjavík City Hall), Tjörnin (City Pond), The National Gallery of Iceland, Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, the Sólfar (Sun Voyager) sculpture on Faxaflói (Faxa Bay), Hallgrímskirkja, Icelandic Phallological Museum, Old Harbour, Lækjartorg Square, Austurvöllur Square, Bakarabrekka Park, and other Reykjavík sites. Overall, this hotel is exceptional. I highly recommend it!

Everything about our stay was perfect… can’t recommend it enough!! Service was amazing, always happy people happy to accomodate and help you. The included breakfast is a surprising add-on because it is actually a full breakfast, and for ALL dietary requirements. They have everything from vegan to gluten-free, and everything in between. Honestly recommend 10 out of 10

This hotel is the epitome of 5 ⭐️ ! Absolutely incredible staff from front desk, bartenders, and all wait staff at breakfast and dinner. Cozy feel in spacious guest rooms. Nightly social hour which included free drinks and snacks. I’m room complimentary drinks (soda/water/juice) and snacks replenished each day. It was an absolute pleasure to come back to hotel each night after our daily adventures. Perfect location for all tourist shops, restaurants, and bars. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and will definitely be booking again.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. We found it very comfortable, quiet and luxurious. The breakfast was great - huge selection. We also appreciated being able to have breakfast when we arrived even though we couldn't yet check in. We also enjoyed the complimentary drinks over happy hour in the evening whilst sitting next to a fire. The best part was the 'bath house' in the basement. It had private showers, a lounge area, a sauna and a hot tub. It was great for when we arrived early in the morning and wanted to freshen up. We used the hot tub several times and had it completely to ourselves. Margarita on the front desk was a big help when our taxi didn't take credit cards.
