Best hotel in Iceland! Beautifully decorated rooms, beautiful surroundings. Huge bathroom with big bathtub and separate shower, double washbasins, high end amenities. Bathrobes and slippers. Nespresso coffee machine. Iron and ironing board. Powerful hairdryer. Very comfy bed mattress and beautiful linen. Would go back anytime. Plenty of hiking trails in the area. Restaurant and bistro on the premises.

Stayed one night during one of the most severe winter storms to pass over Iceland this season. We noticed the weather of course during the night, that is to be expected, but slept quite well in the soft, warm beds.
We booked a Deluxe room, it had a nice large bathroom with shower and bathtub (although the bathtub was kind of small), a sofa and bathrobes. Not sure if there is a lot of value in it compared to the standard room, as the hotel is somewhat pricy. It had good furniture, equipment and was very clean.
We were happy with the service, staff was friendly and helpful.
Also had dinner at the hotel restaurant. Service was good and helpful, although it took longer than we expected to have the food served. We had the duck and the lamb, both dishes were quite good, would definitely recommend them.
Located in the forest of Húsafell, this is far from any towns, close to the highlands of Iceland. Perfect for those who want to do the glacier and cave tours, or enjoy nature in this area.

The Hotel Husafell is a beautifully-designed, fully sustainable hotel sensitive to its spectacularly scenic surroundings near the Langjokull glacier. Its rooms are nicely appointed and the restaurant is wonderful, with delicious food and an attentive, engaging staff. We want particularly to commend our hosts/servers, Gabriela from Austria and Natalia from Poland, who made our dinners memorable and helped me celebrate my 70th birthday in style! We will definitely be back.

Stayed at the lodge for 3 nights and very nice place – rooms clean, bathrooms spacious and nice location all round for views and sightseeing. Unfortunately, the whole experience was let down by the complete lack of diversity in the range of dining options.

Breakfast was fine with a modest hot/cold buffet. Lunch was served in the "Bistro", which was fine (albeit with quite rigid opening times if you are going on a glacier/snowmobile trip).

The problem was dinner – it caters very much for the fine dining palate with no flexibility for a simpler dish. Choice of 5 main courses – duck, beef, lamb, fish and veggie – which may sound a lot but all are done in the fine dining/nouveau cuisine style. Personally, I don’t like that style of overly fussy food, so hard to judge if it was done well or badly. On two occasions we asked if they could do something plainer, but were told not possible – “they wanted to maintain the standards”. There was a possible option of a burger in our room, but no room service menu per se. Clearly given the remoteness, outside dining options were not realistic.

Feels like a simple problem to fix with the addition of a handful of simpler dishes…

My worst hotel experience in Iceland.

I'm sure the hotel often meets it's promoted serenity but sadly my experience is anything but.

As soon as I deposited my bags in the room after a considerable drive to get to what I had hoped would be a memorable experience it was immediately apparent a party was going on in the room adjacent to mine with what sounded to be half a dozen guests. Crashing, bashing, shouting and ultimately music coming through the walls until the early hours.

My request for another room was not able to be provided as they were 'fully booked' which presumably was all the more reason to stamp on the party ... which sadly did not happen. After a second request a receptionist was despatched to ask them to 'move the party to a different location in the hotel'. This did not happen either and there was clearly no ongoing monitoring of the situation.

At half past midnight another call to reception was met with a recorded message in Icelandic which was of no help whatsoever.

Very, very pi###d off. The Hotel is a 'premium' priced venue and you do not expect to encounter drunken parties in the rooms.

Sadly the experience will have clouded my stay and whatever else positive there may be to say about Hotel Husafell it won't be coming from me.

After a few days driving around Iceland, we wanted to spend a couple of nights in a nice hotel and enjoy the surroundings. After some research we decided to choose this hotel. Our room was spacious with a nice sitting area and an ample bathroom. We even had a lovely seating area outside our room overlooking the mountains. The restaurant has delicious food, unfortunately due to Covid they served a fix price menu and not full A la Carte. The service was superb. On the negatives, the people at the reception seem distant and unhelpful. In our case basically asked for a form of payment and handed us our keys, no additional information. Later we learned that the pool and hot tub were closed during the week and only open on weekends which was a huge letdown and something they should let you know in advance. We tried to play golf one night to take advantage of the long and bright nights but again the people at the reception desk were clueless and unhelpful about how to get golf clubs and balls. This hotel has the makings of a good destination but they better start shaping up for post Covid era.

Dear Fernanda, We are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations with regards to the customer service level by our reception staff as well as the disappointment of the pool closure. The pool should have been open but our seasonal repairs caused delay in our summer opening schedule. We always strive to provide good service at all areas of the hotel and we take feedback such as yours as an opportunity to learn and improve. Your feedback will be shared with them.

This was the hotel I was least looking forward to. I’d only been able to reserve a standard room and the website, for the whole husafell area, felt a bit corporate, I was pleased to be proven wrong. We’d been to the site on a previous stay but still managed to miss the hotel amongst the various camping areas. This was the only downside, that it was on a site serving many functions. The hotel itself was lovely. It was very modern, with some lovely design features, and not too big. Our room had a patio and overlooked the front of the building. It was spacious, the beds good, and the bathroom lovely. I really liked the toiletries, so much so that I asked to buy some of the wonderful smelling soap. We ate in the restaurant. They helpfully pointed out that a big group was due, so we squeezed in before them and had great service, I thought the food was delicious and the cocktails pretty good too!

We have a 1 bedroom suite connected to another room. Family trip of four. Beautiful small private back porches. Did not really use it though still cold here on Easter. The rooms are tastefully minimally decorated with a large bathtub and rain shower in the suite. The hotel does not have a gym but you are for not a loss because your day will be filled with out door hike/walks, waterfalls, lava tube tours or a couple hour retreat at Kaurma geothermal pool. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and kind. You will be happy you picked this place to explore the area. Especially after you return from a long day dive into some amazing food washed down with some Icelandic beer.

The hotel sits next to a campground so the “spa” is are a few swimming pool for families. The entry price is not included in the already premium price of the hotel and I was very surprised. The room was so hot we opened the window and later got an electric fan to vent out hot air.
Our premium room overlooked the loading dock and partaking lot. The restaurant is crazy overpriced even for Iceland. We ate at the “Bistro” which is essentially the cafeteria for campers. The one bright spot was a great bartender who cares about making a fine cocktail. But for $23 a drink….it wasn’t as exciting as it could have been. Next time we’ll stay at the Fosshotel.
The breakfast is “free”, but you pay a ton for the room so nothing is free. Very disappointed.

Dear Joanne D I am so very sorry that your experience fell short of expectations during your recent visit. Thank you for taking the time to write the feedback, it helps us revisit our service levels and find ways to improve. The pool is a public pool and its existence (and that of the campground) actually pre-dates the hotel being built. We obviously need to find better ways to communicate this to our prospective hotel guests to avoid similar disappointment. Icelandic buildings tend not to have air conditioning, so while we all love sunny days, our buildings can get very warm unless windows are open to allow the air to flow. You should have been offered an electric fan as standard due to the warm weather and not have to ask for it. This has been discussed with the reception team to improve our service standards. We do offer the Bistro as an alternative to our fine dining restaurant. We are sorry you feel it is only at cafeteria level. We do recognise that it is very casual dining but we have received some lovely feedback on the a la carte dishes on the evening menu. There is no denying that Iceland is an expensive place to visit, much of the supplies are imported and salaries reflect the cost of living. Our goal is always to provide exceptional level of service to compensate for some of the things which are outside of our control. From your feedback we failed on this occasion and we need to aim for better.

This is a very modern hotel and is beautifully designed and built - as a building. As a hotel there are issues. Why on earth all rooms do not have a view is beyond me! There are incredible views from some rooms but not others. Our room was one of the more expensive ones and we looked over the courtyard so that was very disappointing. Especially when we peeked through open doors when staff were cleaning to see the smaller rooms with the best view! Another issue is lack of bar space. You just have to queue at the restuarant and there is nowhere fo have a pre dinner drink of any size. Also drinks ere served from inside the restaurant which i just ridiculous.

The restaurant was good and we enjoyed breakfast and our dinners. Not particularly great hot breakfasts but certainly adequate and everything was fresh.

Dinner presented a far greater problem. Preference for reservation time is given to large groups. We stayed at a time when there was one group of 18 and another of 38. As a couple we were offered 5.30 or 9 pm dinner on our first night. We had no communication from the hotel about this issue in advance. To be fair, they did slot us in at 7 pm but we felt very second class.

On another evening, we reserved a table at 7 pm. When we arrived, several tabes by the window were free but we were told we could not sit there as they were reserved. This was an interesting development as nothing like this had happened on the previous nights. We then discovered that guests were making "reservations" by slipping a waiter money. It all felt somewhat underhand. The large groups took up so much window space, other guests found window tables at a premium and decided to pay for the priviledge of getting one. I know some cultures would see this as normal but we felt it was not entirely acceptable.

Our room was too hot but the bed was large and the room well appointed. The shower was great and the bathroom was large. I find tiny bath towels in Icelandic hotels an issue! Plenty of storage for bathroom items and we had a sofa in the room and a coffee table. Just no view to enjoy!
