We absolutely loved staying at the Skjaldarvik Guest House. When we booked we were quite nervous to stay in lodging without a private bathroom (especially traveling with our 2 kids). After arriving all our fears were put to ease. The rooms are nice, the bathrooms...More
We stayed here for two nights and had a great time! The guesthouse is a bit outside Akureyri in the countryside.
The whole guesthouse is well decorated, many lovely details all around. Our room was modern and reasonably large, with a little sink in the...More
From the upscale hotels in reykjavik to small but beautiful cabins in Kalda, this guesthouse still beat them all! What made this place so special were the extremely warm and helpful attitudes of the staff(from employee who met us at the door to give a...More
Skjaldarvík provided exactly the calm, relaxing atmosphere we were looking for after a long day's drive, and the friendly welcome that put us at our ease at once. I particularly appreciated the quick tour of the guesthouse that Dísa gave when we arrived, as it...More
We booked a couple nights at this guesthouse based on the reviews I read on trip advisor, and it was a great move on my part. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the rooms are comfortable and the morning breakfast is plentiful. The guesthouse sits...More

Thanks for asking, but I am not the innkeeper. My wife and I were simply guests at Skjaldarvik. We are familiar enough with Akureyri to say that if you are coming from Reykjavik, you will pass by Skjaldarvik before you reach Myvatn and Dettifoss. If you are arriving at the airport in Akureyri, it would be a little bit easier to go to Myvatn and Dettifoss first.
You are going to love it!
You can contact the innkeeper at skjaldarvik@skjaldarvik.is. Telephone is +354 552 5200.
