I realize that "charming" is a musty and vague term, but it applies to the experience as a whole. I stayed for three nights in February because I wanted to do some hiking, and because I wanted to explore a new area of the country. This hotel presented the opportunity to do both. It is most definitely in a remote...

We did not see the northern lights so this review is purely of the hotel itself. The point of this hotel is to have a remote place to stay away from city lights to hopefully see the northern lights looking out over an amazing view in the comfort of your hotel room (or hotel hot tub). However, if you make...

Spend a wedding anniversary at Glymur hotel, renting the Hallgrimsstofa suite for one night. I asked from some special treat to be in the room and my requests were fully met by the friendly staff. In a wonderful winter weather, we witnessed the colorful sunset over the Hvalfjörður firth as an ever-changing painting from the hot tub. The hot tub...

We have just returned from a four night stay at this hotel. It's location is great, with superb views over the Fjord (There is a road between the hotel & the fjord, but barely any traffic at all on it) and the hotel is deliciously warm, nicely lit & very welcoming. Our room (24) was a two level one &...

Being from the New Orleans area, I've developed pretty high standards for food. So imagine my surprise when coming to a country that often has a bad culinary rap and being floored with the best meal of my life! We started with a seafood stew and a lobster appetizer. The seafood stew had a butternut squash base with succulent bites...

Really disappointing hotel. Once you enter the place, there is a disgusting smell of fried oil...disgusting...it smells up to the room. Unfriendly and rude staff, as if you were bothering them...the restaurant is really expensive and not great. Apparently potatoes and mushrooms are vegetables...wouldnt recommend it...

Drive 45 mins from Reykjavik, and through a rather impressive tunnel, and you end up at Hotel Glymur. The surroundings are beautiful, remote, quiet and quirky. Great choice at breakfast (although porridge would have been a great addition!). We had dinner two nights - also excellent. Lucky enough to see the aurora on new year's eve which was fantastic then...

We stayed in one of the modern, spacious and stylish self catering villas, a very comfortable and well equipped property with hot tub on the deck. Great views of the fjord during daylight from the deck and of the stars from the tub at night! An excellent Breakfast Buffet in the hotel was included in the price. Spectacular landscapes and...
