The past reviews hit the mark. What this cozy hotel lacks in corporate amenities (Hilton, Radisson etc), it more then makes up in charm. This might be the cleanest hotel I've stayed in my entire life. And little things like top of the line shampoos and soap are a great addition. Another great thing was the attached cafe. It's not...

We stayed here with our two kids in one of the rooms with a kitchenette. It was an excellent choice. Breakfast we enjoyed in the nice courtyard cafe, the food was delicious (home made müsli etc.) and the atmosphere was nice. One suggestion to the management: it would be a good thing to inform potential guests that there is no...

We booked this online and unseen and were very pleased with the outcome. Having spent the previous six nights in 4-star hotels in Copenhagen and Stockholm, this offered a welcome intimacy that the others lacked. It seems to be run by a family and being 3-star is unable to offer the same 'corporate' essentials of a grand foyer and restaurant....

If you want somewhere that's value for money, well situated, clean and comfortable this is the place! Very ice, would stay again. The room we had was by the road and we did hear revellers returning but it wasn't too bad. Gothenburg was a great city.

If you're after value for money (and in Scandinavia that's not always easy!) and a central location then you can't go far wrong with the Vanilla. As others have said, probably the worst aspect is climbing up the spiral staircase for 2 or 3 flights with your luggage but after that it gets a lot better. We checked in after...

Arrived here via motorbike ( parking bays on street, very handy!) booked the last available room, small double. What a pleasant surprise, receptionist was friendly, welcome boxes of branded 'Vanilla' raisins is a nice healthy touch! Rooms are up winding concrete stairs in a lovely old building. Elemis toiletries in the room was very unexpected! Lovely courtyard for a bite...

A reallly lovely hotel in an excellent location for access to all of Gothenburg. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds wonderfully comfortable. I wished I could bring the bed home with me. This was the best breakfast we had in all of our 10 days (5 hotels) in Sweden. The little cafe is also excellent, and as...

We very recently spent two nights at the Hotel Vanilla, and our overall experience was excellent. Had the 'snafu' not occurred, it would have been easy to give this hotel a 5 star rating. The location is excellent, and comfort and cleanliness are superior to most hotels in this category. However, all was not perfect, and based on prior reviews,...

Great location - close to shops and sights but still quiet. Good breakfast. Nice courtyard to sit in. Helpful reception - nothing was too much for them. All in all - good value. Would definitely be happy to stay there again.

I stayed here for three nights when visiting friends in Gothenburg. I have stayed in Gothenburg before and wanted somewhere less ‘clinical’ more ‘homely’, I found it. It is central (15 minutes’ walk to anywhere in the city). Located I the older part of the city everything is on your door step (10 minutes’ walk from Central Train Station). The...
