I visited the Shasa Resort in March this year. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the world turning upside down! This resort was the safe haven I needed. It was good to turn off from the world, and from all the fear and panic that was all over the news and immerse myself in this tropical paradise. It gave me a break from all the worry and stress and allowed me time to meditate and think clearly about what was happening. The staff: I cannot fault any of the staff at the Shasa Resort, every single person is lovely and greeted us with a smile each and everyday we were there. They made an effort to remember our names and made us feel very welcomed and at home. I also commend their level of professionalism during COVID-19 outbreak, every staff member wore a mask as they were exposed to the public when their shift ended. They also had hand sanitizers at their desks which were used regularly. Shasa resort has a free shuttle that takes you to Malibu Beach which is located at their sister hotel and this service operates daily, the shuttle takes you at noon and comes back to pick you up at 5.30pm which gives you a good amount of time out of the resort at the beach and with an option to go shopping at the mall nearby. Malibu beach is absolutely heavenly, it has turquoise waters that are warm and absolutely wonderful to go into. I spent the day there enjoying the free wi-Fi as this is a sister resort and the cocktail bar on the beach. Guests at Shasa not only enjoy free WI-FI at Malibu but also are given a beach chair and umbrella for free. The whole experience was amazing, although Shasa offers you everything you need on the resort it’s good to have this option for a change of scenery. The drivers of the shuttle that took us to Malibu and back had their temperatures checked when they arrived on shift as a safety precaution for us and themselves and also wore masks. Due to COVID-19, this time has been especially trialing for travel and with fears increasing daily of the invisible virus which spreads at an alarming rate, I was extremely impressed at how this resort addressed the global issue and still allowed us to enjoy our stay. The Resort: Where do I start??? I have NEVER had such a spacious, perfect and HEAVENLY stay in my life. The rooms are HUGE!!!! we stayed in building 3 at the very top! We had two huge rooms between the two of us and a HUGE ASS ceramic bathroom that was just ARRRGH! The VIEWS my lord! TO DIE FOR! Everyday was better than the last, enjoyed the morning sunrise on the balcony with a cup of coffee! ( they provide you with a plunger and coffee daily! Tip: when you go to Malibu duck off to the mall and buy fresh milk and biscuits to keep in the fridge if you’re a fresh milk person and that just adds that extra element). But the views from our room were just incredible. The breeze from the ocean as you sit on the balcony as well as the warm weather is just a perfect combination. (Tip: best place to enjoy room service) Our room was cleaned daily, and I tell you everyday we came back after breakfast was like arriving there for the first time each time. The cleaning staff were lovely and professional they not only tidied the room they moped and MAN made it look and feel brand new! Also, their towels smelled so nice after a shower (weird observation but hey it’s that little detail) and the robes!!!! All in all, I LOVED my stay at the Shasa, in the end we had to cut our stay short due to our government demanding all citizens return. We lost 4 days in this paradise but the time we spent was enough to make us feel relaxed. Last Note:: Thank you! Thank you! to Shasa Resort and their incredible staff for an amazing and an unforgettable stay!!!! I cannot wait for all this madness to end so that I can visit you again. I can only pray that your business is not heavily affected by all this chaos. May God be with you always!…
We just stayed at this hotel for three nights and we were blown away by the vast space that we had. Our room was #222 on the second level facing the ocean and pools. It was really well fitted and very comfortable. It had two large en-suites, a large living area, full size kitchen and dining, laundry (which was very helpful when we have young kids). We could not believe how big the apartment was. Our boys just loved having that extra space to stretch out and run around. The resort has three large pools, one with shallow parts which young children can confidently swim in. We as parents could relax and not worry. The resort has 32 apartments and only a portion is rented out so it is quiet around the pools and the restaurant. Others are residents. We spent so much time by the pools. They are well maintained and clean and we loved our swims. We ate mostly at the one restaurant on site. Breakfast was included. It offered a wide range of selection. The fruit was delicious and fresh. We enjoyed it. Lunch and dinner shared the same menu. It had both Thai and Western style. There were plenty of options and we tried a number of the Thai dishes. They were all pretty reasonable quality and slightly more expensive than restaurants outside. We loved their pad thai the best and their larb gai salad. We have also used the kids club. It is air conditioned and it is very big. It has a lego table, lots of other toys and TV and Wii games. Our kids just loved spending time during down time. The attending staff was very friendly and loved kids. It was very handy having the kids club. The resort had a gym and a spa. They were doing buy one get one free for single treatment so I had two 90 mins Thai massage over two days. The cost was 2200 baht (equivalent to around 700 baht per hour) which was more expensive than the outside ones. I paid probably around 300 baht for the same massage outside. I guess I was justifying it due to the nicer location (private spa room) and I didn’t have to travel out as we were isolated. It was ok but won’t do it again! This brings me to its location and it’s shuttle service. As reviews already mentioned, it is isolated. So you need to be prepared for it. We didn’t mind it at all. We felt that what we had at the resort was more than sufficient. The hotel provides a free shuttle to Lamai and Chaweng beach. It only has two departures at 12:30pm and 4:30pm. Returns at 5:00pm from Chaweng and 5:30pm from Lamai. It is very limited and inconvenient. We did it one day taking the 12:30 to Chaweng for lunch, some shopping at the Central Festival shopping mall opposite to the sister hotel called Malibu. We could use its pool (which was small and not child friendly) and the beach front lounge chairs. We had to bring our own beach towels. The beach was very busy and many beach vendors would come and tried to sell us all sort of things. I didn’t feel like we could relax there. The service overall was really good. Staff were very friendly. They could communicate in English very well and we had a fabulous stay. We would definitely recommend it if you don’t mind the isolation and would love to go back. …
I booked this hotel at a great non refundable, non cancellable rate just a day ago. After the hotel accepted and confirmed my reservation I received an automated non personal email informing me that THEY had cancelled my reservation. Not an apology or the decency to explain why they had cancelled. Here is the text from the hotel : “We are sorry we had to cancel your stay at Shasa Resort & Residences Koh Samui from **** to *** 2020. We look forward to your next stay with us! “ That’s it folks, nothing more nothing less. Low class written all over it. Perhaps they had made a mistake but to treat customers who have been prepared to make a prepaid non refundable booking in this way without an explanation or an apology is most rude and unforgivable. So ironic but clearly highlights this hotels double standards in regard to recent bookings.…
I was forced to cancel my booking due to my son’s recent diagnosis of autism. I cancelled 29 not 30 days before and was charged the ENTIRE fee. While I understand the policy, I expected management to have some heart given 1) the reason 2) they still had 29 days to sell the rooms on. Very disappointing.
