In the former building of the Swedish wine and spirits state monopoly someone has created this industrial design hotel, an idea not bad as such; however, this First Hotel will never enjoy a monopoly status. It is the First Hotel that will be my last when next time on visit to the great Swedish capital. The reasons are as follows:...

I liked the vintage look this hotel had. It looked like it used to be a theatre of some kind. The rooms are tidy and clean, and the breakfast was good! Maybe a tiny bit far from the city centre for my feeling.

Crappy rooms - poor TV, no phones, furnished (sparsely) in 1982 by the looks of it. The windows are also filthy outside. The bar is nice but if you get a room on the ground floor it's incredibly noisy. They had a full PA system playing house music in the bar when a stand up comedy night was on during...

I stayed there for a night for a conference. They didn't allow Check-in before 3 PM. Room was the most basic I've seen anywhere in Scandinavia (I have lived here for over 15 years). Though there were not many on this floor but I was allotted a room next to a very noisy lift. Poor signage on the floor for...

The First Hotel Norrtull is a fair hotel if you compare cost, quality and location. It is in a quite neighborhood where there some traffic but not much. The rooms are nice - not big but comfortable with descent furniture and beds. The bathroom was small but nice. The hotel has a bar that is open to 1 am and...

The hotel has a strange layout due to conversion from a warehouse. My room on floor 1 was a bit disappointing - a comfortable bed (2 in fact) but very bare. The bathroom had a ripped shower curtain and no plug that fitted the basin. The hotel was in a good location for my purpose - visiting the Karolinska Institute....

We had the misfortune (?) of being on a week end. Two nights on a row we were waken up at 1 am and 3 am by a bunch of guests shouting, singing and screaming in the corridor. Obviously they had not started to behave like hooligans in the room corridors and must have been spotted by the night staff....

Considering hotel prices in Stockholm excellent value for money. Clean and spacious rooms, bathroom and shower works well, great buffet breakfast with vast selection is included. If your are a light sleeper you might want to ask for a room towards the courtyard or the quieter street on the backside of the hotel. Nice lobby, bar and restaurant (they offer...

Stayed here as part of a group meeting nearby. Location is fine, the airport bus stop is very close, it's very close to the Karolinksa and there is a metro station within a few minutes walk. The building doesn't look like a hotel from the outside, reflecting it's previous use in the alcohol industry. Quite a few old pictures in...

Staying in Vasastan

Neighbourhood Profile
Vasastan
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.

“We booked a room for 3 people (2 adults+1 child) and found out in the hotel that there is no spare bed for the child and if we wanted one it would cost 300kr per night. The good thing was that we got to change our room to one with "king size" bed (which actually was pretty much just a normal doublebed). The hotel is big and complex and we clearly stayed in the "old side". The room was pretty small, the toilet floor was absolutely filthy, there was no soap (got more when we left the bottle wide open) and there were towels for only two people. We had to ask one set more every day although there was cleaning in our room (the cleaners obviously didn't bring us three towels although they clead out three...?). ”
