My reservation was cancelled. You are not allowed to stay in a dormitory if you are over 40. I could not find out why. They offered me to cancel with full reimbursement - nice! - since I would not be let it! (I was told I could book a single room, but I didn't.) I booked over bookings.com. There is...

This hostel was my 'home' for 3 days before I started work in the north of Sweden. On arrival to the hostel I realised there is no lift, but some steep spiralling stairs - luckily a passer-by helped me but some may struggle, I had a huge amount of luggage! My room was very pleasant, I had booked a twin...

Located right in "Gamla stan" only a short walk from the Central station and a perfect place to stay. From here it is easy to get around by foot and see Stockholm. We arrived after they had closed, but got hold of the staff from the door phone. We were told a 4 digit code to open the front door...

The hostel is situated in no other better place in Stockholm. Right in the middle of Gamla Stan. I booked a 6 bedded dorm and thankfully they was only 3 occupants including myself. We only stayed there for one night. The hostel is very well maintained. Clean sheets and comfy beds. The bunk bed is a little squeaky when any...

As soon as I arrived I had a bad feeling about the place. I rang the buzzer and was quickly told no check in until 1. Then hung up on. Then when I eventually managed to check in, the woman on the desk tried to over charge me. Getting to the room, which is a 4 bed room and absolutely...

Hotels and hostels in Stockholm are really pricey. This hostel is cheap. Cheap and awful. Single room is tiny, there's a place for bed and a suitcase. The room is very cold - I slept with my beanie and scarf on. Thin walls between rooms - crazy audibility. If your neighbours are quiet, it's ok, but if not - you'll...

Hostel is centrally located, walking distance to everywhere. Beds were comfortable. Front desk staff was really helpful. Rooms were extremely small. If you are planning to travel alone, be prepared to have a restricted personal space. Shared bathroom was for both genders. Toilets and showers were in the same small area. And there is no lobby, no place to chill-out...

The location is great! right in the heart of the old town ...easy to find, It is VERY simple. The beds were comfy, the bars can get a bit noisy..i suggest you just join them for a drink! The walls were thin though...you could hear the guy snoring in the next room. Again..just drink more and you'll pass out! The...

Room was spotlessly clean and bed comfy. We arrived late and after check in and our key was waiting for us. Toilet and showers were more than fine as well as the shared kitchen with fridge pans etc. Despite being on a little shopping street with cafes etc we heard no noise at night or early morning. Location was perfect...

+ The location is great, in the middle of Old Town. Very cheap, I got a bargain for 2 euros per night. Would not pay over 20 euros per night for this accommondation. Good wifi- connection. There are lockers to store your stuff, but those are small, fit only small tablet and camera, no bags, and you need to bring...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
