Hotel rival is considered pricey for the size of the rooms offered. However, rooms are newly renovated and clean. Hotel staff are well trained and provide good service. Gamla Stan is nearby but requires a bit of walking (10 mins) to get there. Overall, a comfortable stay.

Really enjoyed our stay at this sophisicated hotel. Liked everything about it. Lobby was cool. Front desk staff were professional and friendly. Sean the concierge made dinner reservations for us at Pubology which was great. We had a room with balcony so room itself was large. Breakfast was fresh, staff friendly and laid back. Bistro very popular with the locals... More

Hotel Rival has it completely own special flavour – Stayed at the Rival several times over the last 6-8 years and have always been meet by a very friendly staff. The rooms are not big, but very functional and includes all you can expect from at high standard business hotel. However, Rival is much more than a ordinary business hotel... More

I wish we had stayed more than 1 night! You could spend a day just admiring the decor and furnishings! Well placed, only 10 minutes' walk from Gamla Stan. Good sized room facing the park. Huge bathroom with shower and bath and plenty of shelving for toiletries. Room service was punctual and reasonably priced. Please note that breakfast is included... More

Loved out stay at Rival -- hope to be back again! Staff very helpful, very clean and quiet. Great location with access to safe and frequent public transit. Very cool! Love Stockholm! And an ABA CD in the room -- with good sound system, was a nice touch.

Enough has been said about this wonderful hotel. Staying here was a great experience. The staff is friendly and easy to please. I got a great tip on a yoga studio nearby at Timmermansgatan 10. Yoga Shakti is a versatile studio with a variety of yoga styles to choose from. The teachers were helpful given that I do not know... More

I stayed there for 5 nights on a business trip to Stockholm. And I really loved it. It's not located in the downtown but it's very easy to reach to downtown by metro or by bus. The metro station is only in the corner from the hotel. The hotel is looking to the park and it's very peaceful. And yet... More

We had two days at Rival in August, and it was just great. Wonderful staff, very helpful front desk, comfortable rooms, good buffet breakfast, good location. Close to Gamla Stan, in a quiet neighborhood where people live and shop. Definitely highly recommended. Hotels in Stockholm are pricey, but Rival gives you everything you need.

Our group of four chose this hotel from trip advisor. We were not disappointed. The location was excellent, the hotel was clean and comfortable, and internet service was provided. The online reservation process was easy, and we were cheerily greeted and checked in with efficiency. Would stay there again and recommend to friends and family.

My husband and I spend 3 nights at Hotel Rival in August, 2012 (our 3rd and final hotel during a 3-city trip). The vibe here is amazing. The reception staff was always helpful and friendly. Sean, the concierge, did not let you pass by without saying hello. He seems like the "mayor" of the hotel, as we saw him at... More

Staying in Mariatorget

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariatorget
This rather quiet neighborhood revolves around a postcard-like park with a dramatic fountain in its center and is definitely one of Stockholm’s showcase neighborhoods. Mariatorget, a central residential area, is the best Stockholm has to offer when it comes to juxtaposing architectural masterpieces with sophisticated art galleries, coffee shops and bars. Stockholmers love to spend their weekends in the park or one of the nearby coffee shops, so come to Mariatorget to meet the locals. The northern part of Mariatorget boasts historic buildings, beautiful cobblestone streets, and one of Stockholm’s best observation decks, Monteliusvägen, from where you can see an amazing view of the city hall and Stockholm’s old town.
