The bar at the Hotel Reisen saved this hotel for me! Our room was on the first floor. It was tiny and had a view directly into the building next door. We were awakened by garbage trucks every day (three successive days!). So I wasn't a fan of the accommodations. However, the hotel was centrally located and easily walkable to...

Thank you for your feedback! Old Town of Stockholm is a crowded area with narrow streets. I have looked into the company of the garbage trucks and the only time for them to collect is during the early morning due to after the city has woken up there is no space for them. I am so sorry that this caused...

This is hotel has a great location with super funky rooms. We had one of the top floor rooms with a really cool ceiling. Our room overlooked the water so it was nice to watch all the boats. There are many nice shops and restaurants in Gamla Stan and this hotel is very close to the castle.

Great harbor-side location in Gamla Stan, cordial and helpful staff, extensive breakfast selection in a bright, pleasant dining area. Small lobby but several sitting areas. Not a shiny modern hotel, but it has an intimacy and warmth that only an older hotel can offer.

Hotel Reisen is located in a brilliant spot in Gamla Stan and it's easy to walk to lots of sites from there! The staff were very friendly, and the room was very comfortable, and very clean. There was loads of choice for the buffet breakfast. Only criticism would be that our tea and coffee didn't get refreshed and we had...

The hotel is located in central Stockholm, "the old city". And old is the keyword here. The bathroom is equipped with a standard tub from ancient times, and the bathroom is cold as the weather outside, with no possibilities to adjust the temperature. The TV is places on the side of the bed, which makes it a unpleasent TV experience,...

Very butiful city and place near hotel. But hotel needs renovation. Not good evening dinner, waitors don't see you. Very big amount of guests from the city. After they can find that there is no possibility to make a food (after 21.00)

Thank you for your feedback which we highly value. From the last weekend of November up to Christmas it is a tradition in Sweden to serve Christmas table. An average Swede visit at least 2 Christmas tables during this period and our restaurant is very busy during this time. I apologize if this caused you any inconvience and if you...

We went to this place since I read they make new types of cocktails using real fruit juice. The bar is really modern, nice music, and cool ambiance, and we ordered cocktails that we had no idea what they really were. We got two small cups (very very small) and at the beginning we were somehow annoyed by it. Nevertheless,...

Even the deluxe room was a bit small, and there were no tea/coffee facilities in room. Ok, that's the negatives over. The location on Gamla Stan is fantastic, the view across the water beautiful, day and night. But what wins this hotel it's 5* rating from me is the breakfast buffet; these are often sad affairs in European hotels, but...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
