The hotel is superbly located in the heart of Gamla Stan however for the hefty price I found the room very small. A single bed was squashed up against the wall with very little space. There was also minimal space to hang my clothes or store the case. The bathroom was a reasonable size. My room was directly across from...

This hotel is full of character, with lots of memorabilia throughout, also in the rooms, which makes it feel like you are staying in someone's home, rather than in a hotel. It is right in the centre of Gamla Stan, which is perfect for walking around, eating and drinking and souvenir shopping. There are tea and coffee facilities on every...

We booked this hotel because we wanted to stay in Gamla Stan the oldest part of the city with the Royal Palace and catedral only around the corner from the hotel. The accommodation was beautiful, clean with an excellent breakfast included in the price. Not cheap but certainly mid-range considering how expensive it can be to visit Stockholm. We had...

This place is a bit pricy for its standard. You pay for the excellent location, charm and friendliness. The interior is full of countryside folklore things, and the furniture is the kind you find at your Grandma's. Various things, not one room looks like the other. Everything is tiny, because all houses in the Old Town are small. I stayed...

We enjoyed our stay there, thanks to the friendly service provided by the staff. The best was the breakfast lady - she baked, served and cleaned up all by herself! Unbelievably efficient, and friendly at the same time! Her crackers were certainly out of this world! Our room was small, however. Too small, in fact. The bathroom was modern and...

A great location in the old town - walking distance to all the main attractions. Lovely breakfast with plenty of variety. The wifi works well. Reception were very helpful, in particular, Olivia. We had a corner room that was very comfortable and clean. The hotel is quaint and quirky with a Bohemian feel - it has an eclectic collection of...

Only checked in this afternoon - the location is very central. Big problem-there is a bar operating right outside our window and it is 11.30 on a Wednesday night. They have told us they will try to move us tomorrow. This hotel is offering us a sub-standard product. You can do better - stay somewhere else!!!!

The Lady Hamilton is steps from the central square and also the Royal Palace on Stockholm's Gamla Stan island. Some people prefer to save money by staying in an outer suburb, but if you run out of energy, this centrally located hotel is minutes away from the major tourist attractions. Go home to this quaint hotel (31 rooms on four...

The hotel has an incredible location for sight-seeing and is located in the middle of Old Town. The hotel was easy to find and had a lot of interesting and convenient shops next to it. The room was very quaint, but had a lot of modern amenities (the bathroom was particularly attractive with its bright decor and mood). The breakfast...

With so many choices of hotels in Stockholm, it was difficult to decide where we wanted to stay and what type of hotel to choose. Boy, did we choose the right place! The Lady Hamilton Hotel was a delight from the very beginning. They were very helpful when making reservations, quick to answer emails and to make transportation and restaurant...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
