This hotel is in a great location in the old town in Stockholm, close to many restaurants, bars, and shops. While the room I had was quite small, it was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was modern and looked recently renovated. The breakfast was a great surprise, with many choices of both European and North American...

We enjoyed our stay at Scandic Gamla Stan Stockholm. The hotel was charming and small with a cosy breakfast area. We got a very nice room in fourth floor. They did not have children chairs so the breakfast was a bit difficult with a kid (1.5 years).

This hotel is a great choice if you want to be in central old Stockholm. It's location is great as it is near to the water so you can access the boat trips easily. There are many shops, restaurants and little bars within easy wandering distance too. I say "wandering" because I think this is what you should do here...

This hotel is very cute and in-line with the old-town area... full of character. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. I was surprised to see an assortment of cakes available too! The carrot cake was the best I have ever tasted! People need to be prepared that as this is a small hotel, with a...

Nice hotel in a historical area of Stockholm City. Good things: Comfortable bed, modern bathroom, smartTV, nice cosy breakfast, friendly staff, central location and cosy atmosphere. Negatives: small elevator, blinds are missing in some windows, no waterboiler in the room, roof terrace outside the room that was making noise in the wind (not secured for january wind). If you want...

The location of this hotel is fabulous- the winding streets of the old town that surround it are populated with great restaurants, coffee shops, music venues and small shops. The rooms are not large but charming and clean. The breakfast was delicious and there were many vegan alternatives. The staff were friendly and efficient. Overall, a wonderful quaint stay.

The hotel is nicely situated in Stockholms old town. The rooms are small but nicely decorated. We had a room facing the street which was quite noisy at time - but that's to be expected if you stay in Gamla Stan.

We have just checked in a couple of hours ago and we want to check out. OMG the rooms are super tiny without space for one suitcase let alone two which okay being in a super old hotel maybe maybe you tolerate even with a double sized bed that should be queen..... but.... to have to pay for a cup...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
