We stayed at the Victory Hotel from 3 Jan 2017 for 3 nights. We were a party of 5 adults staying in 3 rooms. The hotel situation in Gamla Stan is excellent and it was very easy to get to the local attractions (Nobel Museum, Royal Palace and the Old Town) plus the other islands to visit the Modern Art...

Really nice place. Local, close to all old town attractions, great rooms and great feel. Off the Main Street so avoid the noise but only a street away to walk. Nice decor and staff really helpful. Recommend.

My hotel room was much smaller than expected, but that was my only complaint. I did not spend much time in the room anyway. The location was perfect (right in the center of Stockholm's Old Town) and the hotel staff were quite friendly. The hotel itself was beautiful and uniquely nautical-themed. I very much enjoyed my stay and would certainly...

Great place for tourist visiting Gamla Stan, this hotel is right smack where the action is and well within walking distance from all major attractions at Gamla Stan (Royal Palace, Den Glydene Freden, Stortorget X'mas market etc). It is also convenient that breakfast is included in the rates so there is no need to hunt for eating places in the...

The Victory Hotel is perfectly situated for exploring the Old Town. It is has a very quirky feel to it but makes a lovely change from the faceless large chain hotels. The bedrooms are not huge, anyone expecting an American size bedroom is going to be disappointed but we found there was plenty of room and the nautical theme continues...

It's quirky, classy, comfortable, tasty, relaxing & friendly, in a great location. We had 3 nights, but would love to have stayed longer. I'm not sure if this unique hotel experience would work anywhere else in the world. Stockholm has a very special maritime vibe. But I would certainly give it a go. I simply loved it.

This is a old hotel in the middle of the old city in Stockholm. It's in the same building as my favorite bar the Tweed and a fabulous restaurant "Djuret". The hotel is imitating the atmosphere of an old ship, and for some strange reason I loved it. Go, and I guarantee that you will love it. It of course...

It's quirky and fun. You feel like you are on a cruise ship and the room had port and chocolate for us to enjoy!! The sauna was great and that is not a hot tub, it's a cooking tub that is a great break from the sauna. We really enjoyed ourselves!

We had a comfortable deluxe double at SEK 2.746 per night including a normal buffet breakfast. Price is quite high and does not reflect the standard of the room or the hotel. Apart from breakfast, the bars, restaurant and room service do not open until 5 PM. Nothing is sold in the reception, no mini-bar in the room and no...

My friend and I stayed at Victory Hotel after reading all its positive reviews and discovering that it was located in picturesque Galma Stan. We were so happy with our experience! The staff was welcoming and helpful, our rooms were spacious and comfortable, breakfast was delicious, and the free sauna was a great experience. We would readily recommend this hotel...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Victory Hotel is a welcoming and exclusive hotel with a personal atmosphere in a perfect location in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s charming Old Town. The fact is that the hotel is a tourist attraction in itself. It contains a unique, private collection of maritime antiques, passionately selected by the collector himself, the hotel's founder Gunnar Bengtsson. There are three restaurants and one bar in the hotel; Djuret (The Whole Beast), Omakase, The Burgundy and The Comfortable Bar Tweed. The breakfast has a selection of cold cuts and hot items and is served in the downstairs dining room, which also has the remnants of a defence tower from the medival city wall on display. The hotel serves complimentary coffe and tea to all their guests and to unwind you can use the Sauna and Relax area exclusively, and free of charge. ... more   less
