Located in the centre of Gamla Stan, this is an excellent base to see everything Stockholm has to offer at amazing value. Our was room immaculately clean, and the bed was so comfy! Breakfast was included which was an added bonus. This is a historic building. Walls are thin and because it is well priced, couples with two small children...

The location and price is good. And most of the staff was really friendly, except for when we were checking out. We then had to wait for 15 minutes for somebody to show up and when she did she was on the phone with a friend the whole time and seemed really bothered by us checking out. Otherwise no complaints

The hostel was quite clean and they have enough shared facilities on the same floor with our room (ground floor, 2 toilets and 2 shower room, separated) They gave some breakfast (Jam and toasts), but also we can buy foods at close supermarket (open 9-22, maybe). Middle of old town, so good atmosphere around the place. note, Reception open only...

It is a pretty nice place in the middle of the old town. It saves a lot of time if you are on a tight trip. Even though I was worried about the shared bathroom in the beginning, there were enough showers and toilets. I wished the breakfast was better. We didn't have problems with noise but you can hear...

this is the typical place you stop to spend the night. The position is great as you have everything close and you are in the middle of gamla stan. I would not say it is the best place in town , but ok.

Fantastic if you're willing to pay 50€ and get no sleep. I've never heard such louder snoring, ever, and the rooms have no ceiling so you hear even when the person three rooms away from yours is turning in bed. There's no one attending the hotel so you cannot get a different room or anything if needed. Breakfast seems a...

Horrible. The rooms have no separation between them, if you have someone in the room next to you snoring you wont sleep the whole night. It is fine ir you do not have annoying neightborns. I wont repeat never. I would never recommended yo anybody, look for something better.

We were on a budget trip to Stockholm in December 2016 and spent two nights here. Our room was small but just enough for two of us. Toilets and showers were very clean, the cleanest I have seen in a hostel! Friendly staff. Would recommend this hostel.

The rooms are about what you'd expect for the price. Simple, small and clean which if you're on a budget is great. They've got a nice lobby/common room that's comfortable as well as a kitchen to use. They're in the best area for exploring Stockholm, it's a short walk to explore a lot of the major sites, or to get...

We stayed one night there. It was the cheapest variant with the Gamla Stan location and breakfast included. Nonetheless we have no windows in the room, the atmosphere was quite and we felt no inconveniences. Also the stuff was friendly.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
