A really good location for touring Copenhagen. The hotel itself is in very good shape: our room was recently redone: the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was modern. We paid for an upgrade to a room overlooking the water on a higher floor. Well worth it. Quiet with a great view. The staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating....

We had 2 rooms here in April. Regular rooms that had some nice beam work in them. The rooms were plain, nothing exciting. The service was good, the location was great for walking to Nyhavn. The restaurant called Salt was wonderful, very good even if you are not staying there. The lobby bar was average. I am sure there are...

Had heard about this historic hotel, but was a bit disappointed once I arrived. Unfortunately, my room had a distinct odor to it, like sewer water. Once I notified the front desk, a cleaning person promptly came to the room and poured some bleach cleaner down the drain in the bathroom. The hotel is obviously old, and could use some...

We booked this hotel after seeing it on a Rick Stein programme. We were not disappointed especially as we were upgraded to a waterfront room. Everything you would expect from a four star hotel, courteous and friendly staff. Good location for visiting the sites, we walked everywhere. Easy access to and from airport, 10 min walk to metro which only...

The hotel has loads of character being in an old granary, its on the waterfront and is close (super close) to major sights of Nyhavn (coloured building on the water) and Amalienborg Palace. The staff were friendly. We weren't there long and didn't eat in the hotel. Parking is available out the front and given we parked for 24 hours,...

This converted hotel from an old wharf designed like a Viking Ship is well located on esplanade right across the Opera House & elegant. Rooms are decorated like ship cabins with wooden structures, spacious & comfortable. Friendly & helpful staff at reception as well as the restaurant. Buffet breakfast is reasonable for a good spread of Western cuisine. Lobby is...

This hotel has a fusion of an old fashion building with modern amenities at a perfect balance. The room with its mixture of wooden beams and wall colour instantly created a cosy feeling and when coupled with the comfort of the bedding, made a perfect setting. The staff were excellent and as there were 3 to 4 manned reception points...

The building is a very cool building. But it is old - and there is not much between the rooms. Thus, if you are as unlucky as me to get a snooring man in the room next door, there will be not much sleep... The air quality in the rooms are also very poor. Luckily you can open the windows...

Wonderfully cozy hotel with good and friendly service and the perfect location - everything is literally a stone away. Also yummy cocktails in the hotel bar. Only thing that could be faulted is that walls must be really thin, as if someone is snoring in the room next to you or above you or anything else, you can hear everything....

If you want to be in a huge machine, treated as a passing element that is actually close to disturb, try this. Hope you get a cheap rate on a website or please choose anything else. It is not very friendly, not very clean, not very good and not very everything.

Neighbourhood Profile
Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Next door to royal residence Amalienborg Palace and just a short walk from Nyhavn, this imposing 200-year-old former granary warehouse is one of the largest hotels in the city, with 366 rooms - but don't let that put you off. It may not be boutique but big can definitely be beautiful. Beyond the two cast iron canons at the entrance is a neon-pink bar (great for a pre-dinner tipple), while guests retire to rooms showing off classic Danish touches such as teak furniture, low ceilings and original wooden beams. Best of all are the panoramas across the water towards the city's shiny Opera House and Christiania: a view fit for royalty. ... more   less
