#1 of 2 B&Bs / Inns in Sparta
Plethon is a wonderfully quiet, agro-tourist retreat, with a twist of urban architecture. It comprises of four elegant independent adjacent houses and en suite- bedrooms, each 64 sq, a lovely garden, and a relaxed dining area. There is also a second building, with a common lounging area for all guests where a la carte meals and breakfasts are served should they wish. Four independent houses but with similar architectural features are tastefully decorated with warm colours, stylish paintings and recycled furniture.

The city it self is not necessarily a great place to visit but this place is a hidden gem. Quite end nice with a good host. Great place to stay before you start the trip to Kalamata via the old road to catch the great scenery.

Plethon residence is a nice, small, charming B&B located just outside Sparti. The two floor apartment is very comfortable, with a small kitchenette downstairs. The bed is very nice to sleep. What makes this apartment special is a balcony with a view of Taygetos Mountains and Byzantine city of Mistra. B&B also has a very nice separate large building for a regular breakfast. The dinner we prepared together with the owner of place Despina. Despina is originally from Sparta and, being a historian, she knows the area and its history as hardly anybody else. The time we spend with her in Pleython residence - visiting a local market, the archeological museum and cooking leg of lamb - was one of the highlights of our trip in Greece. We are hoping to come back and to spend more time in Sparti hiking in Taygetos mountains and discussing the Peloponnesian war and Spartan history with Despina. Thank you so much!

We spent one night here and could have stayed more. The owner was very welcoming, with plenty of good advice about the area. The apartment was clean, comfortable, with good simple facilities and clever design ideas. The main attraction was the view of the mountains, amazing.

We stayed here for 8 nights in October with our 2 small kids. The apartments are very nice and clean and the kids can run outside easily. So for all this in would give it excellent but there are some small things why I cannot give it excellent. I am convinced that this is the best place to stay in the high season as Despoina will be there more often but outside high season the place is rather deserted. Dimitra is there to help but she does not speak English. The breakfast is ok, but the bread was not very fresh as we were almost the only one there. For that reason I would propose to that this place has a reduced low season rate. Another example is when we arrived at the place there is no bell, no door indicated and Despoina was not there and did not answer the phone. So I had to climb over the gate to find Dimitra in the kitchen... Bottom line it is a very good place to stay in low season and I would assume an excellent place to stay in high season.
