This is a really beautiful accommodation with a lot of love for details, in the hearth of the old city of Rethymnon. The 8 rooms / suites are in 3 different buildings, which are very close to each other. On the roof of one building there is a roof teracce with a small plunge pool. As the rooms / suites are in historical buildings, nothing can be changed, which means that there are no elevators. This might be an issue for some, as the steps are very steep. We had booked to separate rooms and were upgraded to a Junior and Executive suite. Both of them very beautiful and tastefully decorated. The Executive suite has a small balcony overlooking the tapas restaurant which belongs to AVLI and a roof teracce, which is great at night (during the day it was too hot / sunny there). Upon check-in we got offered a drink of choice in the tapas restaurant, and as it was lunch time, a tasty mezze platter. Breakfast is served in the lovely small garden and is very tasty, using only locally grown and produced products. Eleni and Stelios made our short 2 nights stay at AVLI very enjoyable. Should I return to Rethymnon, I will definitely return to AVLI.…
A series of converted properties that provides 9 or so unique rooms on old Rethymnon. Each room is beautifully decorated and are well kitted out. A roof terrace on one provides a place to take the sun and a plunge in the tiny pool right in the heart of town. The restaurant in the downstairs has a very pretty courtyard and serves some of the best food in town - very beautiful and romantic. The neighbourhood is full of other eating option and the Raki Ba Raki is part of the same establishment and a fun alternative. Located in the old streets it is well located to explore the castle town and sea front. We enjoyed it all greatly - friends recommended it - we live in Chania and stopped over for a night - we will repeat!
We stayed at the Avli Lounge Apartments in September 2020 and I would highly recommend the hotel. The suites are of a really good standard and centrally located in the Rethymno Old Town. Our suite was the Champagne Suite. It was a large very nicely decorated room with large king size bed and decent size lounge area. The bathroom again was large and had a Jacuzzi bath big enough for two people to use. The roof top Jacuzzi with terrace was also very nice and had lovely views over Rethymnon Old Town.
I have stayed two nights in the brown suite, a nice penthouse with two terrasses. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable, in the old town but in a very quiet street. The breakfast was both original and delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. An excellent address.
The rooms can be in different buildings, but they don’t mention it. Very disappointed because it was the reason I’ve booked there: I can not leave when my son when he sleeps. I wanted to have a close access to a yard or rooftop. The room was ok but ultimately cannot open the windows and blind, a bit claustrophobic...
