Stayed here for a much needed 2 week break in June 2019 - fully inclusive, we had a ground floor bungalow room with partial sea view. Although small the hotel room was very clean, lovely toiletries and full mini bar fridge, which was topped up everyday. The housekeeping staff were fantastic and even brought a small jug of milk everyday and left it in the fridge so that we could enjoy morning coffee on our terrace. We participated in yoga and Pilates everyday with a brilliant instructor (first timers), and enjoyed watching the Aqua fit, cocktail making, wine tasting and the quizzes in the beach bar. We tried all of the restaurants, everyone of which was excellent. The Greek night is a must attend, we had so much fun - the staff are great and before you know it you are up Greek dancing with them. Days were spent wondering down to the beach or one of the various pool areas, we had lunch in the brilliantly run beach bar and wondered up to the Lobby Bar for afternoon tea and then to the hammock area to read in total peace. The weather wasn't always brilliant during our stay, on these days we took advantage of the organised Safari Trip excursion which was fantastic and which we still talk about, another day we went to Spinalonga - which was humbling and worth a visit. Some slight niggles were that the hotel was at full capacity so getting a sunbed in the morning after breakfast was not always possible, and even more annoying when some beds had towels on them for the whole day and that were not used. From 7.30am onwards we watched a troop of other residents walking past our terrace to reserve the sunbeds on the manmade beach or pool areas, which we didn't think that the hotel should allow. The Spa staff were also quite stand offish on the few times that we wanted to use the indoor pool, maybe it was because we didn't book any treatments at these times but perhaps some training is needed here, as after a couple of days of it, we didn't re-visit which meant that we definitely didn't book any Spa treatments. Having said that, we had a lovely holiday and would recommend.

We travelled to your hotel the day after the UK introduced the 14 day quarantine. We expected things to be quieter than usual and were unsure as to how the hotel would have been adapted to become Covid Safe. We need not have worried from the first moment we arrived we knew we had made the right choice in selecting this hotel. The position of the hotel is idyllic with the amazing views of the sea from almost everywhere in the hotel. Our room was absolutely perfect. The views were stunning, the cleanliness and the décor were all absolutely great. Yes the rooms were only cleaned every other day but this was more than enough, the rooms are large, have his and hers storage, extremely comfortable large beds, free safety deposit box, walk in shower and a wonderful bath taking advantage of the views of the sea. All the staff we came into contact with were so friendly and professional, masks were worn at all times which can’t have been easy but they could not do enough to ensure that all guests were happy. The food in the main restaurant was great with lots of choice, all served by the staff as due to Covid restrictions guests were unable to help themselves to food understandably. We were lucky enough to enjoy two evenings in the Mirabello restaurant, the speciality cooking was fantastic and again the staff could not do enough to ensure we thoroughly enjoyed our evenings. A special mention must be made of Xenophon who made sure our evenings were so enjoyable. The hotel is the perfect place for a relaxing break and we will definitely be returning. We would like to once again say how well the management and all the staff have adapted to these difficult times and please pass on our thanks for such a perfect much needed holiday.

We have not long come back from our two week stay at Elounda Village which was a much needed break away like many other people this year (our third attempt for September). I t have tried to make a fair and balanced review of our experience at this hotel taking into account this extraordinary year and there are many positives but also some negatives. First I have to say the airport and flight experience was smooth and efficient. Everyone on the tui flight adhered to the mask rule and we didn’t see anyone walking unnecessarily in the aisles. We were one of the last off the plane and waited outside the airport in an orderly queue. A bit of confusion with the private transfer as it was Sunday and there not many taxi drivers working, which we found odd as tui must have known who had paid for a private transfer so you would have thought they would be waiting with the taxi as soon as you got out of the airport! The journey took about 50 minutes so got there before the coach transfer. We had to fill in a track and trace form in and was given a glass of water each, which was fine but being the hotel classes itself as a 5* I think they could have push the boat out with maybe a fruit cocktail or sparking wine to welcome their guests! Check in and rooms The receptionist gave us two key cards and was shown to our room 452 (sea view bungalow). I had e mailed the hotel before we came to ask for a high floor and a private balcony as we do spent a lot of time on our balcony. . The balcony wasn’t private it was next to another balcony. I asked to see another room but that was the same but the receptionist said that was all they had but the hotel wasn’t full due to Covid restrictions. There are rooms that are private but you need to know the numbers of the rooms eg 451, 454, 470 are set on their own although you do see the shared pool rooms underneath. We accepted the room but would have liked to see more rooms even if we had to upgrade but didn’t get the chance or offer. The room was lovely and clean. The views are stunning though overlooking the sea and nearby Elounda. Plenty of storage (his and hers wardrobes). The bed was enormous with a topper and really comfortable pillows. Tea and coffee making facilities. A mini bar with 2 beers, soda water, coke, lemonade and fruit juices. We were on an all inclusive package so this was free for us. At reception they informed us that we had to tell them when we needed the minibar topped up and also the maid would clean the room every two days due to Covid, which was fine by us. Once the minibar had not been topped up informed reception and by the time we got to the room the maid was there. Brilliant service. We had a walk in shower, separate toilet AND and a bath. Two sinks which was great. All the shower gels were on the walls to use. Plenty of towels which were changed every two days. Air con was smooth and very quiet. The safe was free of charge but it did freeze on us but we just asked reception and they came to sort it out straightaway. Pools There are 3 pools but 2 are very small with only about 3 or 4 sun loungers. The infinity pool is small but can swim comfortably in it. About 20 sunbeds around the pool that were well maintained and very comfortable. There had taken quite a few sunbeds out due to social distancing and in the first week if you didn’t get there before 9.30 they were all gone. The second week was very different as the day after we arrived the British government put quarantine on Crete so the second week it was quieter and quieter and could get a bed anytime of day! Beach The beach is quite away down from our room and all downhill with steps everywhere. If you have walking difficulties this hotel is definitely not for you. It is a lovely little bay and a small beach. Many of the sunbeds again had been taken away which was a plus for us as in ‘normal’ times it would have been too crowded for us and you would have been fighting for a bed. The sea was lovely and clear in the little bay and spent our time reading, snorkelling and swimming as prefer the beach to the pool. It was so relaxing with no loud music playing either at the pool or beach. A 5* touch was the staff coming round either by the beach or pool asking if you wanted any drinks. Food Normally there are two a la carte restaurants but because of Covid only one was open The Mirabello, which was a shame but couldn’t be helped. The Mirabello was open a lunch time (no reservations needed) and at dinner. Due to Covid there was no menus and had to download the Tui blue app on your phone. When you reach a certain age things like this are more complicated to do but with help from the staff we got there! As many people have stated not all the meals are included on the all inclusive. Many choices in starters etc but when you come onto the main course only about 4 options, pork, chicken, beef or sword fish. Couldn’t get cocktails either at this restaurant in the evenings. It was beautifully cooked food and well presented either lunch or dinner. The beach bar was where we went mostly for lunch with a very cold beer. Again no menus and limited choice, pizza baguette, ham and cheese toastie chips, jacket potato with cheese and tuna flatbreads but enough for us. Strange that you had to pay for a club sandwich but hey ho. The buffet was open lunch and evening but by the second week the buffet was not open at lunchtime due to less numbers in the hotel. The breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice. A little different this year as we couldn’t help ourselves to the buffet but the staff tried their best to serve what we wanted on our plate. All staff wore masks either in the restaurants or outside. We were required to wear our masks in the hotel and when getting food in the buffet. When we sat down at the table we could take our masks off. The buffet in the evenings was disappointing. All seemed to be cheap cuts of meat and even on ‘Greek night no’ traditional Greek dishes. Never saw a lamp chop (only when we paid over 35 euros for them, very disappointing too!) in The Mirabello I don’t know whether it was about cutting down costs but the food did not represent a 5* hotel. Drinks The drinks were of high quality and a good selection. Yes some of the drinks and cocktails were not included in the all inclusive but there still was plenty of choice. Yes in the restaurants you cannot have cocktails but you can have a bottle of wine if you are both drinking the same, although the wine isn’t that good! Most of the time we had beer or water. Hygiene The hotel was spotless. There was sanitisers everywhere in the hotel. Toilets etc. Saw staff steam cleaning furniture sunbeds etc. Could fault them. We went into Elounda once and had a taxi which was 8 euros one way. Elounda is a small town with a lovely harbour and some shops. It was very quiet and do feel so sorry for the local businesses as it should have been a quite busy little resort. Entertainment There was low key entertainment which we preferred. Solo singers outside the lobby bar, Greek dancers. Lovely and classy. Things to improve Tui blue app - if they are introducing the app permanently instead of menus etc they need get the app working properly. We were trying to get a dinner reservation at the Mirabello for around 9 (as we like to eat late) The app kept saying it was full tried earlier on each day still saying full. We knew it wasn’t full as we had been in the restaurant at that time and there was only us in! Went down to reception they said it was full up too! We went to the tui rep and she did it straightaway and got in at our preferred times. God knows what it will be like when the hotel is fully occupied! The buffet food. The hotel need to up their game with the buffet. There was a vast difference with food quality between The Mirabello and buffet and as it is supposed to be a 5* hotel all food should reflect this. A shuttle bus to Elounda. It is quite a way to Elounda to walk so a free shuttle bus would be ideal and a 5* star hotel should really provide this perk. The beach towels. They are ridiculously small. You need two towel each to cover the sunbeds. You get them from the beach bar and although they do not mind you having two each, I think it would be cost affective if they invested in bigger towels. Welcoming 5* drink when you arrive would be lovely. All the rooms balconies roofs are all made of bamboo poles. Obviously when it rains (our last night and day) you cannot sit out and as we love our balcony it was disappointing not to enjoy our last days soaking up the view and heat. It was the same at the beach bar, some areas of the buffet restaurant. Which it made it chaotic in the evening as the buffet restaurant was full inside and the hotel was only a quarter full. I think to rethink the roofs so there are all waterproof as sometimes it does rain in Crete! Overall we really enjoyed this hotel . There are 5 star elements at this hotel but not quite as it lets itself down in areas. We would say a good 4 star. The staff do make this hotel though as they go the extra mile for you. Would we come back. No not really. The hotel wasn’t full but we feel that in ‘normal’ times it would be too overcrowded for us especially the beach area as it isn’t very big anyway. We feel we would have been playing ‘sunbed wars ‘ which returning guests have said. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so relaxing.

Our stay was a replacement due to our own hotel being closed this season due to covid. We normally stay across the other side of Elounda so was a little different for us. Firstly it was a much larger hotel but was only half full at best once again due to covid so our reviews are based on different current times.... The hotel was well set out and very clean and tidy, with plenty things to do and see, I will start with the main hotel itself which was well decorated in a nice style, very clean and tidy reception/seated area to relax with a nice shop should you need any supplies. The large inside bar had plenty of seated areas some open/ some for a more private experience, Nice decor clean and tidy with a large selection of drinks. One floor down was the toilets including a disabled toilet, an ironing room complete with a proper decent iron and board. One floor above is a pool table and darts board, and internet station. Surrounding the main hotel where infinity pools and nice planted shrubs and flowers with wide paths leading to all rooms. Next to the main hotel is the main restaurant for breakfast /lunch and dinner normally self service but currently served by staff due to covid. Further down passed the rooms is the beach a small one but clean enough with plenty of sun-beds and a beach bar /cafe the staff who came around to take drink orders where brilliant. the views from the beach are lovely. The beach bar served snacks until 6 pm and all where nice snacks, and had nice seated areas looking across over the sea and beyond. Just up from the beach and with stunning views is the Mirabello restaurant serving al a carte food and this food was lovely !! spend many evenings in there. At night after dinner we made our way to the main hotel to an outside bar area with plenty of comfy seats for drinks , Two members served drinks ( this is normally around 8-10 ) again due to covid, Who took drink orders and worked tirelessly to fetch and serve drinks and did a great job... On site was a large main swimming pool with seating and sun-beds and two smaller pools, tennis court and a fitness area. As for our room is was not a five star room more a standard room realy and could have been cleaner, But i will reserve my Judgement due to the current issues this year. Over all we enjoyed our stay and the staff where excellent and made our stay a good one.
