Mirabello Bay Luxury Resort is lauded for its stunning location and the comfortable amenities it offers, including diverse dining experiences and attractive pool and beach areas. Nonetheless, guests have called out the resort for not delivering value for money, pointing to steep prices and shortcomings in food quality and facility upkeep.
While the service quality receives mixed feedback, with commendations for staff friendliness but also criticisms of sluggishness, room cleanliness and maintenance also present a varied picture. The atmosphere of the resort is noted to be both charming and occasionally lacking in vibrancy.

Booked at short notice through Voyage Prive which included flights and hire car. A good all round package. Easy 1 hour drive from Heraklion Airport. We had a one bedroom villa in the village with jacuzzi on large balcony. We overlooked the main hotel and panoramic views over sea, mountains and cruise ship moored in Ag. Nik. (a couple of miles away and 7 euro cab). Room was comfortable with en suite bathroom and separate shower (tiny shower tray which always flooded but dried quickly). Nespresso machine pods refilled daily, kettle and teas/coffees plus fridge with soft drinks. A very comfortable bed with pillows to match. A very well equipped room which had everything we would ask for in a room. Our deal gave us a la carte (you need to pre book) dinners in the Greek and Italian restaurants and lunch at the BBQ. Food, choices and service were all excellent. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were otherwise served in the buffet restaurant with substantial choices included two grill options at lunch and dinner as well as fresh fish, meat and vegetarian options. Choices over a week were very good. Whilst the hotel and separate village accommodation were reasonably busy I can imagine that in high season the hotel would be at severe strain. Whilst there were children in the resort they mainly used the beach area whilst we used the blush pool and bar which overlooked the new water park which was pretty much empty in early October. Again, in high season probably rammed. The pool was sea water and very refreshing! It had its own bar which was rarely busy just like the pool. We would not go there in high season though as described above. Previous review comments on main bar waits were probably valid during high season but we rarely had to wait more than 5 mins. Whilst at Mirabello we ate out in Ag. Nik. a few times, it was a 7 min drive and 20 mins to find a parking space! Can recommend Pelagos sea food restaurant. Visited Spinalonga Island (The island by Victoria Hislop) from Plaka, a 20 min drive via Elounda. Also went on catamaran with Bryan & Toni (owners) from the hotels marina for 11-6 trip to the obligatory blue lagoon with swimming, drinks and food. Maximum of 8 passengers. Had Spa treatments with Maria which were good if overly expensive. The Spa treatment rooms we used need a refurb. That just about precis' our stay beyond saying that the staff work very hard and were extremely courteous. The room was immaculately clean and we had a good stay. BEWARE-Plenty of stairs throughout resort. Overall, we prefer a la carte evening dining on holidays and for this and in comparison to other resorts we have stayed in I would say that it is not a top AI resort but we did enjoy on our first visit to Crete.

We stayed in this hotel in September 2023. Very nice hotel with beautiful swimming pools and a very beautiful private beach with fine sand (on one of the two) and crystal clear waters where you can easily observe fish! We had the pleasant surprise of being upgraded! We had a lovely room with a private pool. We thank the hotel for this very generous gesture. In general, all the staff are very kind and attentive. Regarding meals at the all-inclusive restaurant, it's not bad but the dishes offered quickly become redundant, which is a shame for a hotel of this category. However, the breakfast is amazing for us French. Good real breads are offered in a wide choice, a first that we have seen used to hotels and clubs. The hotel is quiet and well located, you can easily get to Agios by taxi (6 mins) and 5 mins walk away, a farm which presents its production of olive oil, wine, honey and cheese. To visit !
My partner enjoyed an exceptional Cretan massage at the spa. We had a wonderful stay, just a small downside: the swimming pools are not heated and are very cool (the sea water is warmer!) and the lack of soundproofing in the rooms is limited. We still recommend this establishment for a relaxing vacation! Thank you to the whole team for their sympathy, especially to the man at the main door who shares his good humor every day!

The hotel is located in a beautiful, atmospheric place. The first hotel in Greece that provided its guests with many attractions - wine tasting in a beautiful cave, evening watching movies outdoors, evening animations (at a high level). The hotel's great advantage were two private bays, its own port, the possibility of renting a private catamaran, and access to water sports. All hotel services at the highest level. We would also like to thank the hotel staff for helping us organize the family celebration. The food served in restaurants is very tasty. One of those places you want to come back to❤️
The only thing that, in my opinion, should be improved is more thorough cleaning of the rooms (flip-flops left under the bed by previous guests and a large amount of dust under the beds).

We have spent 4 days in this hotel and my recommendation is that you choose another hotel if you are still on time. We have felt conned throughout the stay. I have been to numerous hotels and this is by far the worst 5 stars I have ever been to. As soon as we arrive we are assigned a room with a private pool. When we are escorted to the room there was no pool, I call reception and they tell me that they have no more rooms with pool, being October that is not high season. The room was dirty, there was dust everywhere, hair on the bedside table and on the phone. The cleaning is quite improveable, one day we did not change the bathroom bin bag having baby diapers. The sofa bed is for one person, very small and uncomfortable. The room had a lot of mosquitoes. By sticking the card in and turning on the lights, everyone was flitting around the lights. My 5-year-old daughter, baby and I were shot. The food is very low quality and repetitive, not even breakfast is saved. Even the chocolate Neapolitans that you only have to put them in the oven, they were hard as stones. We had to go buy food for my 1-year-old baby because he didn't eat anything. They have about 14 dishes to choose from and of those, salads, spaghetti, white rice, chips and pizza are always repeated at lunch and dinner. There is no variety and you have practically the same for lunch and dinner and even several days. There are no themed dinners or labels of what is every thing. We've felt really ripped off. It's an underrated buffet for hotel capacity. In the pools of the water pack the steps fade and your feet are blue with paint. Mattress cushions and hammocks are with lamps and ripped. You ask the employees for something and they seem to have a hard time giving it to you and if they want it. Honestly, to be waiting for this holiday and that when they arrive not be able to enjoy them because the hotel is not up to its category is a shame. Not to mention cocktails that are aguachirri. We were all-inclusive but to charge a person €14 for that colorful water doesn't make sense. Not to mention the wind. The hotel is not to blame for this but the heated water in the pools would have helped. The towels they give you in the pool ran out by noon and if you want to change them later you have to go to the beach to find them. They're discolored and frayed.

We have just returned from a week's stay at this hotel. We purchased the week via the Voyage Privé website. This hotel is rated 5 stars.
We are very disappointed with the amenities and services of this hotel which is absolutely not 5 star. We do not recommend booking in this hotel!!! Here are our adventures.
We arrive at the hotel reception, a decent welcome, but a small drink and welcome towel. We say the week is off to a good start...
Then it gets worse!
We had booked a family suite. For information, the hotel is divided into two, one part near the sea and another on the other side of the road where many cars drive.
We are located in the “new” part of the hotel, therefore not in the main building. When we arrived in the room, the bathrooms were not cleaned, there were still gaping holes from the air conditioning vent, sand in the shower, glue residue on the walls, and dust in all the pieces.
We ask for a change of room, and after 2.5 hours of cleaning, the reception manager agrees to come and see the room. She realizes the unsanitary state of it, which is absolutely not clean, and gives us two “old” rooms in the main building. We say to ourselves phew…
Let's go to the buffet! and there the disaster...
The catering is correct, nothing more, nothing 5 stars, the service deplorable (waitresses who do not care about your satisfaction, and the quality of the food is really not up to the level advertised. To support my words , many adults turn to the children's buffet, which is much more appetizing. You can make reservations in 3 à la carte restaurants. Above all, don't go there!!! frozen pizzas, uncooked octopus, are the same products as in the main restaurant but without flavor... the only one worth the detour, the Cretan restaurant, fortunately!
The beach, the cushions stay out day and night.. so bad luck we had rain... so in the morning, they are soaked. No one takes the time to bring them in in the evening. They are in a state of dirt rarely seen…(even at the Flots Bleus campsite it’s better) The person who gives you towels is nice as a prison door, and no service. Be careful not to leave your deckchair for more than 5 minutes, someone will come by and take away the towels…
Finally, we were offered a spa with a heated swimming pool… the swimming pool was never heated, and the facilities were not great.
In summary, in appearance it looks like a 5 star, the setting is magnificent, but everything else is no more than a 3 star, no service, no attention, non-quality food and drinks...
We strongly advise against going to this hotel. Run away !

This is definately a 3* resort and not a 5* We are very frequent travellors, preferring 5*. Advertised as all inclusive, it is not. Common cocktails like pina coladas, mohito and daiquiris are not included neither are steaks in a la carte restaurants. The mini bar in rooms is only free 1st night for coke, sprite, tonic water and water. The rooms are nice but small, lacking drawers, bedside drawers for personal items. Lack of handrails round private pools, very slippy when wet and only partial handrails on marble staircase in lobby. There are lots of steps and not all areas accessable via the lift. The scenery is lovely but the beach is gritty, pebbles and dirty, unkempt and not cleaned. Beach beds and furnishings are tatty, ripped and broken. The toilets outside also not cleaned regularly and never any handtowels. No waiter service which is standard on most 5* resorts. There is no clear flow in the restaurant and guests are wandering up and down all aisles, the food is low quality and hardly any meat available. The fresh oronge was very thin one morning and lack of staff offering coffee, clearing tables etc. No interaction from supervisors or friendliness and some staff were outright rude. No turndown service available. Coffee pods in room but no milk available. We had to cross a road to use a different pool and at 0945 told we couldnt use the toilet till 10am as it was locked. On only one day was fizz available at breakfast, also a 5* normal. We were supposed to have cushions on our balcony but they had blown onto a roof and though we reported it twice and were only there for a week it took 4 days for them to be brought back. On the final day our pick up was 1040pm to fly home, we were told there was only one slot at 4pm to use the shower room for 30 mins, not 5* service, luckily one of our group was able to pay €100 to use a room for half a day. Many services that are commonly provided at 5* resorts are not provided at this resort and it is not a cheap holiday. We were very disappointed with our stay.

This is not 5 star ⭐️ We arrived to be told “good news, you have been upgraded “. That’s Greek speak for your junior bungalow with a sea view has been allocated to another couple. We were taken by buggy to a 2 storey villa which was filthy. They had taken the trouble to leave complimentary wine and fruit but not cleaned the room so we asked them to clean it before unpacking. Yes we still had a sea view. However cases had to be carted upstairs, which is not what we booked.
We paid for bed & breakfast as we like to eat out and the centre of the resort is 20 minutes stroll away. There are plenty of bars & tavernas to eat at. The breakfast spread is decent so no problems there.
We like to sunbathe around the pool. The floor was filthy and never cleaned but they seemed to hose the the mattress’s on the beds down which didn’t really help. There were always glasses & plates hanging around also. This place probably was 5 star when it opened but it’s now tired and needs an upgrade. For the money we paid plus €70 tourist tax it was scandalous.

We have just stayed with family in this hotel which I must say is magnificent on the edge of a very pretty little beach but that's not all.... - When we arrived a little late, it was impossible to get to the buffet so we were brought wraps to the room (my 8 year old son being very picky, he ate an apple and a cake that I had left over of the journey and for my 20 month old daughter nothing planned) not great for an arrival - the minibar has never been updated, even for bottled water - the next day the room was not cleaned, we had to ask for someone to come by, in order to have clean towels. - the cleaning was done very quickly (having to make the bed every day before going to sleep in it), the sheets were not replaced all week and we had shower gel in the middle of the week. - the buffet is good but nothing gourmet either - the restaurants: we went to the Greek restaurant, after 4 complaints we had our glass of wine at dessert time. All the dishes arrive at the same time in half an hour you have eaten starter, main course and dessert it is quickly dispatched. We also had a reservation at the grill, it never opened even after reporting it to reception! we preferred not to go to the 3rd restaurant.... - The SPA, everyone comes in and out to go to the pool with their shoes on, so the floors are very dirty, just like the windows, that didn't make me want to enjoy the massages - the cocktails, everything is based on sugar, so nothing good, for a mojito even all exclusive you will have to pay an extra 14e per cocktail - no entertainment, no mini disco, no children's clubs, no games, aquagym or others only beach and swimming pool (a playground is with slide, etc.... is currently under construction for future visitors) - We had to check out the rooms at 11 a.m. for a departure at 4:30 p.m. and a baby to put to sleep, after a request to reception they agreed to leave us a room available if needed for my daughter's nap (we didn't We ultimately did not opt for this solution but I appreciate the gesture) - No shower area either for departure, so they lend a room that we use in turns, given the weather we had a room to ourselves, because if 20 people use the same shower, I don't Dare to imagine the state of the room, a space dedicated to departures would be welcome.
In short, we still had a very good stay, but there is clearly a lack of organization, a manager to manage all of this and perhaps an entertainment team.

We were looking forward to a quality wellness holiday, but this expectation was by no means fulfilled. Already at check in we were welcomed by an unfriendly and arrogant receptionist. The rest of the staff in the restaurant service area were also stressed and in a bad mood. They waited in vain for a greeting in the morning. We did not get a room with pool as booked, but a room with Jacuzzi, but because there were much worse locations in the resort, we did not complain about this. Water was constantly escaping from the hot tub, so that not only was there a risk of slipping on the terrace, but also wasting resources a steady river made its way through the rain gutter to the street below.Closet doors were not level , renovations rather loveless, if carried out at all.Cleanliness left much to be desired throughout the complex.Doors in the toilet area were partly not lockable and soap dispensers not usable. The whole complex was dominated by children, so that not only in the restaurant accompanied the meal a soundscape of an OGS Grand Canteen, also in the piano bar area in the evening children clasped around unhindered with shoes on the lounge furniture or played catch - as here the atmosphere resembled that of a ball pool in a Swedish furniture store , it was only possible to have the evening cocktail in the seclusion of their own room. The gym area was also popularly used as an adventure playground and designated quiet zones were not respected as such. The general clothing of the guests could be assigned to the glamping area at most. Yoga or other fitness classes did not take place despite notice. The food in the general restaurant was partly canned - it was also difficult when smaller guests picked decorative fruits from the food or put bitten melons back into the shell. In the morning, you could still find traces of the evening food fries or peppers under the tables under the tables. Small pressed glass beakers were kept as beverage glasses. The standard of a 5 star hotel we could not find again, although the location is really top on a great stretch of beach, the original architecture is also very appealing. Too bad about the implementation.

This hotel is a beautiful hotel only to be let down by some of the service. It’s not a 5 star hotel, it needs some real work done to get to that standard.
Be warned I wouldn’t take your children here, there is nothing for them to do. It’s very boring! This hotel is aimed mainly at adults but they are ‘trying’ to attract more families. The water park, is a death trap. The light blue flooring around the edge of the pool is extremely slippy when wet so be very careful.
The food is average. The highlight would be Maria making the omelettes every morning, she was lovely. A lot of the other staff are very pleasant and extremely hardworking.
The two little angry managers that walk around the hotel need to really work on their customer service and how to approach customers. Not once did we get a smile, a hello or thank you. We did however see them telling staff off in front of customers. This is really not a good look!!
The A la Carte restaurants are a joke, 5 restaurants and you can only book 3. When you try to select a day you want to book - they are all booked up.. I guarantee if you take a walk past these restaurants you will notice that they are empty. What the reception staff don’t tell you is that they are actually understaffed. They will happily accommodate influencers (who haven’t paid) and other functions to the A La Carte restaurants but not paying guests.
Overall the weather and grounds were lovely. There is a lot of walking up and down stairs. Kids entertainment is none existent - however the kids entertainer is very good with children.
