General areas and rooms: The hotel area has some stairs, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. However, there are ramps for strollers. The general areas and facilities were well-maintained and clean, but not exceptionally so compared to our previous experiences. The rooms were somewhat outdated and in need of renovation, although the bathrooms were renovated a few years ago. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, though the extra bed for children was of poor quality. It’s important to remember the village-like concept of the hotel, so it’s not a modern hotel. The Serenity suites by the beach are renovated, but their price seemed overpriced.
Food and services: We had half-board and ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel’s main restaurant. The food was of good quality and tasty, but often lukewarm. The biggest downside was the cooled food. The dishes at Fili Taverna were good but overpriced compared to the general price level in Crete. The pool bar’s food selection was limited, but it could be ordered via an app directly to the sunbed. The hotel also has a kids’ club with friendly staff. A couple of evenings a week, there were shows for children in the central square, and the bubble show and magician were enjoyable.
Location and transportation: The hotel’s location is remote, so I recommend renting a car if you want to explore the surroundings. Taxis are also a convenient way to get to the town center. The hotel’s minimarket had a limited and expensive selection, so I recommend shopping in Agios Nikolaos.
Beach: The hotel has its own private and clean sandy beach with clear water and plenty of fish, making it a great spot for snorkeling. Sunbeds were readily available right by the water if you went early after breakfast. The beach also has a water sports equipment rental, and renting a pedal boat was a fun activity for the children.
Summary: The hotel is in a beautiful location, well-maintained, and the staff is friendly. It offers plenty of activities for families with children, but the rooms need renovation. The hotel’s guests were mostly German families with children, so it might not be the best choice for couples traveling without kids. The whole hotel felt somewhat overpriced, but due to the beautiful beach and friendly service, I might consider staying again.

Our children (7 and 3) really enjoyed a chocolate massage in the spa with Efi and Rafael. Thank you very much.
Our apartment in the hotel is spacious and clean. The two air conditioning units are easy to adjust and do not disturb at night. Only the patio chairs are a bit uncomfortable but fine for a short stay.
Overall, highly recommended!

Great places to lie down by the pool under olive trees with a great view of the sea. The beach area is also really great. Overall, we felt very comfortable in the complex.
However, there are also a few things that aren't so great and where the hotel needs to improve as soon as possible.
We had a Village View apartment. Like all rooms in this category, only the bathroom has been renovated. The rest is very old and, in my opinion, should be urgently updated and renovated. Unfortunately, the cleaning was only OK after a complaint. Before that, it seemed as though the most that had been done was sweeping and making the beds.
The two restaurants weren't good either. The food is unfortunately not worth 4 stars. I don't understand why everyone here writes how great the food is.
The price for the quality of the drinks is much too high. A cocktail, for example, costs €10 and is served in a long drink glass that is filled with most ice cubes. So more of a rip-off than decent cocktails. The service in the bar also leaves a lot to be desired. If you sit outside, it can happen that no one comes to ask for drinks for 10 minutes. And that's even though you're sitting there alone!
Furthermore, unfortunately only coffee is included with breakfast. Cappuccino or similar must be paid for yourself at expensive prices. The juices at breakfast taste very artificial...
Due to the great facilities, we can basically imagine going to the hotel again. But then only to the completely renovated Serenity Sea Fronts rooms.
However, something needs to be done about the price.
Because in general the price-performance ratio is unfortunately not right and it is much too expensive.

We couldn’t have been happier with our experience. My husband has run hotels, restaurants and bars for years in the UK and USA, this makes him a very fussy traveller and very critical, he is not easily pleased but we’ve been back a few days and he’s already booked us in for next year! The staff are everything here, they are SO friendly, welcoming and accommodating. From reception to the bar and restaurants to the cleaning staff who bring fresh towels and clean the room everyday, they also made cute bows out of the bed sheets and even made a little bed for my daughters toy that she absolutely loved. These little touches were so appreciated. They work so incredibly hard and still manage to make you feel comfortable and well looked after. We have allergies, mine is very severe/ anaphylactic which is new to me and very frightening. Wherever we ate, the buffet, a la carte or even when we arrived at 11.30pm (and the lovely Maria on reception made us pizza!) they were so reassuring, they checked everything meticulously. Whenever I went to the buffet the super friendly head chef would give me a tour of every single option and tell me what was in it and if it was safe for me to eat, honestly I wish I could have brought him home with me, I felt so bad for inconveniencing him so often but he never gave any inkling that he wasn’t happy to do it and made me feel so safe!
It’s the perfect place if you don’t like big, all inclusive hotels, surrounded by other Brits. It feels authentic just like a village and is absolutely beautiful. It’s spread over quite a big area which makes it all the more special, there’s an ice cream parlour, gym, shop and spa, all lovely. There are stunning views from every angle, a private beach with excellent snorkelling and the pool is so relaxing, the kids can have fun playing but the lifeguard makes sure it’s within reason. It’s close to Agios Nikolaos town centre and Elounda which are both well worth a visit. I would recommend hiring a car, it was easy enough online and saved us travelling at least an extra hour on a coach transfer, the hotel was so easy to find from Heraklion airport and took just under an hour. One very small criticism is that our children are 11 and 13 and we were surrounded by babies in every other apartment, whose crying woke us up every morning. I’m sure it was just an unfortunate coincidence and if we had mentioned it, something could have been done but it would definitely be something to consider.
Thank you to all the staff at Candia Village Park, we will look forward to seeing you next year and hope you enjoy a well deserved break!

The next morning we explored the resort. Everything is set up like a small village. There is a small market, a gym, SPA, yoga courses, etc.
The resort was very well maintained, the cleaners always greet you with a friendly Kalimera. The rooms were always clean, we always left tips and as a thank you, the cleaners always gave us flowers they had picked themselves and a bottle of olive oil from the region. I love the Greek mentality.
Breakfast and dinner were varied in the form of buffets. You were always accompanied to the table and the table was set accordingly. At the end there was always a raki on the house with the respective waiter who drank one with us.
The private beach was clean, there is the possibility to rent boats and much more.
The swimming pool was also very clean and fun for the children.
You can easily rent cars at the complex on site.
All in all, it was a very nice and unforgettable experience. I miss being there and I will visit this complex in the future.
Thanks to the staff for this great and unforgettable time.

There are countless positive things to report: the complex has its own beach with various water sports activities including diving. The food in the buffet restaurant is very varied, the quality is excellent in our estimation. In addition, you sit outside, which is really good for the holiday feeling. The employees have been in the hotel for many years and so it happens that as a well-known guest at the beginning of the holiday you are greeted personally with a handshake and hug. But always appropriate and professional. The also very friendly cleaning staff in the rooms works unobtrusive, reserved and very clean. The Kids Club offers a program every day and the children are supervised first class.
The complex itself is located outside the town centre, but can be reached quickly by taxi for little money.
We will Trips to this hotel again and again, although perhaps not every year. The ambience and people there guarantee a relaxing holiday.

What Candia Park does provide, though, is a wonderfully relaxing break from home, with an incredible level of service, comfort, and attention to detail that’s hard to beat.
Nestled in the Marbello bay, a few kilometres away from Aghios Nikolaos, Candia Park village was built in the 1990s, and its 200+ apartments have been laid out in the style of a Cretan village. And, thanks to the split level, sculpture, and planting, it works really well (there’s even a clock tower!).
There are three pools, which can accommodate kids/adults of any age and ability in the water. There is a private beach, with an attached diving/hire shop, where you can rent boats, pedal boats, or get diving lessons. And there is also a more secluded sea/decking area, with steps down to the ocean (not for weak swimmers). And all are kept in great condition.
A small shop sells basics (and there’s a bigger store a kilometre away, should you need more choice). And a number of restraints and bars ensure there’s always food and drink readily available (with pool service to boot).
But what really made the holiday special for us was the staff. Greek people are renowned for their friendliness, and the Candia Park staff are no exception. Always smiling, and happy to help. (And not in that fake, American way.)
We spent one of the most relaxing weeks you could imagine here, and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it to people looking for a perfect, family getaway.

The swimming pool is very clean at any time of the day, access to the beach is quick (1min) on foot. Quiet and peaceful place to spend your vacation.
