I stayed here for work a year ago and this hotel was the most perfect location for walking anywhere. We were women traveling alone to a country in "crisis" and choosing a hotel was hard. But I am very happy that we ended up here. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the hotel staff was friendly and the pool was...

Very nice hotel close to shopping and the Acropolis. Big city hotel, very clean, staff was very helpful. Wifi free but not very good in room. The hotel has a rooftop restaurant with an awesome view. Food was good but expensive. Taking a taxi from airport cost 55 euros at night and about 40 euros during the day.

The hotel was little outdated but the location was good. We walked across to the Plaka area where there were many cafes restaurants little shops with many Greek souvenirs . Great walking area just to enjoy and if lazy get on the horse carriages! The breakfast terrace was definitely the best feature of the hotel as it sits high overlooking...

Upon arriving I was told the A/C was being maintained and would not be working, hence the horrendous elevated temperatures. I was told to open the window but I was facing a very busy road. Staff rather unhelpful in that sense. Room was scruffy looking, very dated furniture and absolutely no space for working. This is NOT a business hotel....

Booked in at this Hotel after reading other reviews on Trip Advisors, Staggered off the train from Ravenna dragging our luggage and no idea how to find this hotel. Clambered up the main bridge cases clattering behind us until we reached the main square with numerous buses. Straight ahead was the Hotel Olympia. Two bridges later and we were in...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
