I arrived very late in Athens and it is not far from the place where bus will drop you in the city center from Airport. Pantheon which is the biggest attraction of Greece is not far either. Overall if you consider the price, it is a good option to stay in Greece. I stayed there for a night and it...

Great location in the Plaka. Comfortable & clean room, with nice staff that were so pleasant and helpful (Such a nice little family-owned hotel). I stayed here 5 nights in early April and it came to feel like home.

The Hotel Nefeli is not a 4 or 5 star hotel by any means, but it is a clean, simple and modest hotel, ideal for the budget minded traveler. The registration staff warmly welcomed me - a good feeling after a long travel day. The room was simple, clean and comfortable in every way. The hotel is centrally located and...

Comfortable roon, with really nice staff that were so pleasant and helpful. For a very inexpensive hotel they could not have done better. The hotel is also ideally located for where the airport buses end (at Parliment Square), the main shopping centre and The Parthenon.

We are always assured of a good welcome and am update on all things Athenian, from owners Tassos and Maria. Simplicity and commonsense are key words here, rooms are regularly refurbished and are always immaculately clean thanks to the wonderful Eleni. Breakfast is simple and plentiful, and there is someone on hand to help 24/7. The location cannot be bettered...

I have stayed at the Nefeli 6 or 7 times over a period of about 15 years, most recently in October 2016. It's a friendly, relaxed place, family-run and the perfect location if you want to be in the heart of tourist Athens. All the main sites are within a short walk, as are plenty of good restaurants. The place...

I've passed this hotel many times when I've been in Athens, so I thought I'd try it. It's a small, very friendly hotel located close in the Plaka, close to Syntagma Square. It was just what I needed. The room was small, but big enough for us. Good bathroom. Nice morning breakfast. And a good staff to provide directions and...

I recommend the Hotel Nefeli whole-heartedly. I stayed here for a week in early October and it came to feel like home: I was sad to leave it, miss it already, and long to return. First, to address the things that the average US traveler cares about: the location is incredible. It is close to all of the important sites...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
