Have stayed here over 5 times, its safe, clean and very well located- better than being in Omonia for sure!! Currently charges about 30 euro for a double. This is an old school hotel, it has seen better days, around 1980 but hey, its cheap for a capital city. its easy to get to most places from there and the...

An excellent location, near the center of Athens, with good rooms. It's a good choice if need a hotel near the center! Helpful staff in the reception, but without an elevator. The hotel doesn't offer breakfast and The air conditioning worked well.

It's cheap, and you can see it. If it was renovated I didn't see it. Maybe they just painted the room so that all the panels on the wall is the same colour. The aircon works, which means you don't have to open the window to let the city in. Back window had a great view of the dumpsters and...

I stayed here for 4 nights and was amazed by the low price. Before we arrived we were a little worried because of these negative reviews here. However I feel that these people are a little too fussy and are not keeping in mind the price. It worked out to be 22 euros per night for a twin room for...

Good location, close to a metro train station, staff always helpful (gave us maps, directions and let us leave our luggage in storage there after we checked out as our flight didnt leave until 7pm). Room was large with a working TV and bathroom had a shower and mirror. However bedsheets smelt badly like smoke and after sleeping in them...

We booked this hotel purely for it's price. The staff were helpful and check in was very easy! The room was simple but good, with a tv and air con. The bathroom left a lot to be desired, a bit dirty and the shower had no curtain and was very small. The wifi signal does not reach the rooms. Apart...

Conveniently located in the city center, 3 min. walk to Omonia square (metro), in a narrow, quiet, however somehow dark street. Walk to Acropolis takes ca. 30 minutes. Plenty of cafeterias, fast food shops, bakeries, internet cafés etc. around. Off (but not far away from) the touristic paths, one can see real daily life of Athens around. Booked via direct...

First of all after reading many reviews of Athens hotels, I got the impression that either the reviewers are fussy or all Athens hotels under 4* are bad. Also, they said that the area around Omonia square (which is where this hotel is) is dodgy and is full of prostitutes and druggies etc at night. Due to a delayed flight,...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
