40-50 years ago, it could be a nice place. I was supposed to stay three nights. But on the second day I moved to another hotel in the same area. There are many other hotels which offering at at cheaper price but nicer than this hotel. Noisy, dim, dull, scary two lifts when you step into with your luggage, inter-hotel...

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years. There has always been bad comments but I have never had a nasty experience. It's about the cheapest place in Athens so if you're on a budget and you want to be in a central location it's ok. It's only a minute's walk to Omonia Metro, and you can...

There is not much I can say about this hotel but I will try to touch the most important aspects. The Hotel is located in a very shady area, be careful of your belongings! The staff are friendly and helpful, that the only plus I could notice. Rooms are old and furniture is old as well. The bathroom was full...

We stayed here for a few nights on our recent holiday to Greece. The hotel is very close to Omonia Square, and the Omonia tube station. We were warned by other Athens visitors to look out for pickpockets, drug peddlars and prostitutes but we weren't bothered by any of these - I suspect that any basically aware traveller would be...

The hotel is close to the center of Athena and very close to Omonia metro station but it is in quite poor shape. For the same amount of money you can find a better one. The room is very small and the bathroom tiny.

The only good thing is that the hotel is near to all the visting areas(there is a tour bus near the hotel) . The bathrooms are terrible, food in the morning is very poor.....very hard(concrete :) ) pilows to sleep on...bad wi-fi ,like in all greece .I stayed for 2 days, i think 2 days you can endure in this hotel...

Claridge hotel was the worst budget hotel we have stayed at for a long time. Cockroaches, extremely noisy, broken down air-con (i.e. hot as hell), no way to shower without soaking the entire bathroom, dirty in every corner, very worn down, no secure lock to the room, etc, etc. The only plus was a well working wi-fi.

It was a reasonable price for budget travelers like me. i stayed in a twin sharing room with bathroom for two nights for 80 euros. The room and furnitures are old. The a/c and t.v is working fine and the wifi connection is strong. You get to experience an old-fashioned type of elevator which is interesting for me. The location...

This place is cheap and in a good location. The staff are friendly although English isn't a strong suit. The rooms are comfortable although there is some noise which travels up the stairwell. All in all this is a great option if you're after bargain accommodation which is fairly central to all Athens had to offer.

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.

“I You're a fussy and posh traveller - this place is not for You. Either You're searching for a comfort - the place is not for You. But! When it comes to a Low Budget decisions, the Claridge Hotel may attract You. First of all, it has a good location nearby the historical part of city. It's a busy street, with lots of people arround, especially in evening it may look unsafe, probably it is... It's a place where emigrants live. But the time I came to a city, there was police officers walking arround square, which makes a sence. Athenian municipallity cares for tourists, the city is full of policemen, even dressed in civil clothes ;-). Be careful anywhere, don't be sleepy and oblicious. This is busy street, like i said, but if You really want to sleep - You'll really find a bed to sleep. I've had a singe room, nearby the elevator, as i remember it was on 7th.floor. The bed was clean and comfy for my young bones. I slept well. I liked that there's a terrace with one chair, it was a pity that i didn't found a table outside. For smokers it's a good place to relax, even in city center. Something was special there, i thought. Special for movie makers, theatre directors. The atmospere in hotel brings You back to 80's or 90's of Athens. A small elevator is not for a big luggage, they should have a porter to carry them trough stairs, but if You'll go alone with Your things - it will fit You. Theese old elevators are like a time machine... Some magical lift up, take the stairs down - You'll find some antique TVs or funny pictures (one of them is with a clown). That's lovely to get inspired, even for one night :-). Owners are probably greeks, who speak a little english, one person was speaking russian, what my lady friends really enjoyed. If You know some words in greek (Yassas, Kalimera, Eucharisto, etc.) it will help You to find a sincere dialogue anywhere in Greece. My friends stayed in 407 room, they were three, it was a small room, but for a night they used beds and shower, even we didn't care about a comfort, becouse we went for a lunch to city and walked arround, enjoyed it, we've got a lovely experience, that's why we slept well. We were undemanding tourists. Repectionists must be more honest in hotel, think more about guest (people they meet, even not guests of hotel) the money must be in the second, first of all attention and hospitality to a person at front desk - and that place will shine again! Hope so... Once again, this is something untouristic, but i've found it interesting. Probably, You could find some good hostel in the city, for the same price with breakfast, but... Decide by Yourself, You are the Master of Your Eternal Journey!”
